RUN ! I started walking for exercise, and really began enjoying the challenge of doing better and better; faster and faster. Then someone suggested a 4 mile event. I could walk 4 miles in my sleep... so if I was going to do it, it would have to be a challenge.... one thing lead to another and I ran 4 miles in 40 minutes.... a personal best!

Now! I just gotta get back into the groove emoticon

Wow, I'm impressed! I gave up chocolate for Lent year before last, and 40 days seemed like a lifetime.

I'm finally getting off the foods I've known I was allergic to for over 20 years. Started with wheat and it's not as hard as I thought--now I've got to work on corn, rice, soy, tomatoes and green beans (the only one I gave up in the beginning.)

Quit smoking Feb 18th, 2008... BIG challenge!

Quit diet pop. Used to be 24-72 oz a day, now maybe 24 oz a month. Lots of iced tea w/splenda & enhanced water. Little changes all adding up!

Quit depending on fast food for breakfast 6 days a week, lunch 6 days a week, and dinner 4+ times a week. Fast food is still part of my life, but I typically only get a frozen yogurt cone anymore. Sometimes, if my little sister is requesting it, we may go to the golden arches. It's been over a month since I've eaten a french fry though. We shared an order. I used to eat at least a super sized order of fries every day, if not more.

Still working on trying to make exercise a more consistent factor. One step at a time!

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate!

Life isn't like a box of chocolates . . it's more like a jar of jalapenos. What you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.

If we are facing in the right direction, all we have to do is keep on walking.

If you're going through hell, keep going.

Go for it!

A 5K is 3.1 miles. (Thus a 10K is 6.2 miles)
Every community organizes them for charity & that is an exhilerating investment & committment.

Hubby & I invested in good pedometers to track our steps, miles, calories & fat grams burned. They really motivate us to increase our walking/jogging.

Last year I wanted to walk 1350 miles. I keep a journal & tracked 1295 miles.
This year I am going for 1500 miles by 1/1/10 & have 922.4 behind me to date!

emoticon emoticon emoticon Enjoy your Journey!!!

I never though I could run for any length of time. I've never liked to run mainly because I couldn't - it took too much out of me. Well, I can now say I have ran for 1 hour straight (didn't measure the distance - ran down a country road by my house) I'm actually trying to train to run my first 5K in the fall. We'll see how that goes. emoticon

Give up sugar. I did not think I could do it. I did have one relapse but, I have mostly gotten through the entire month.

Now for my next trick I am going to give up white flour.

I gave up smoking. I am 4 months smokefree. I also gave up sugar. I have only sugar-free food or Splenda, that's a biggy for me, I luv sweet. I also never thought I would be walking 3 miles a day almost 6 days a week.

People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing -- that's why we recommend it daily.

Slow and steady wins the race.

Consistency is the key.

Daily exercise. I used to think about exercising, but never followed through. Now I am walking everyday and I can't imagine not doing it. On Monday I wore out my son and nephew (both 11-years old) on a 4-mile walk. I felt energized, my son laid down as soon as we got back home and my nephew said his legs felt like jello (and he's a hockey player). Sure made me feel great about what I have been able to accomplish!

Okay...I have 2!

1....I used to NEVER drink water, now I have atleast 17 - 8oz. glasses a day!

2....when I would walk, I would vision myself jogging...now I am jogging, only single digit minutes at a time, but hey that's better than seconds at a time, right?

Looking for running shoes. Seriously. I am not built for running and never have been interested in it. But as I have more energy by the day and have been taking my dogs for a mile every morning, they are loving the attention and seem to want to go faster. And it feels good to jog with them... and I can see us getting to where we're jogging the entire mile... and then running it... and then running two... what a lovely future!

I'm exercising on a regular basis. It use to be I would get so sore after a workout that I only did it once in awhile. I have learned that the more I workout, the less sore I am the next day...Now I am working out 6days a week.
