We have 3 goats (2 about-to-burst does and a Billy), 2 heifers and a steer, a handful of chickens (time to get some more) and a wild guinea hen who joined the flock and now eats the eggs, a border collie puppy and 2 spoiled barn cats. Hoping for some turkeys this spring too. And it won't be long until the hubby can't contain himself anymore and gets horses. I'm warming up to the idea after chasing the cows across the 16 acres on foot a time or two. I see their usefulness now. :)

One cat, one dog, two horses here.... Hen, my cat, Lucy, spends every waking hour trying to become an outside cat. Yesterday, she did escape and rather than immediately try to catch here, I just walked along to see where she would go. She walked around two sides of the house, and then strolled across the yard to the wooded part of the pasture. I was finally able to get her when she stopped to investigate a pile of manure!

Lori, how are your kittens making it in the big world? My riding buddy has two kittens that will also become outdoor cats once they get a little bigger.

I promised our son and daughter in law that we would never have an indoor cat again (after 15 yr. old Petunia goes..), so these kittens have to make it! We have coyotes in the area, but thankfully, they don't come up near the house any more! It will be neat to see your pictures!

Lori ~ That sounds like a happy mix of critters... I started out having house/barn cats down here, but when the !@#$% coyotes started coming right into the yard, mid day, the cats became house cats... They made the transition without a problem... We have 6 inside cats, so we use two kiddie wading pools for litter boxes, down in the basement... People can't believe we've got six cats in the house, so it must be working.

The three Silkie hens that shared a nest, hatched out 6 healthy babies the first of the week... I'll post a pic on our team site.

We have two miniature horses; two miniature potbellied pigs; four pygmy goats; two dogs, a rescue mix and a Cairn terrier; a 15 year old cat; two barn kittens; a host of chickens and a rooster; many, many freshwater fish! We call our little farm on earth, none other than "The Little Farm"!
