We went on Dec 15 - 21 a couple years ago. It wasn't too busy until the last day. It was truly MAGICAL! I wish I lived there.

emoticon emoticon

Initial Goals:
1. Get back into my previous weight loss jeans.

2. Meet my fiber requirements 5 days a week.

Now that I am finally exercising for the first time in 23 years I have decided to set these weekly exercise goals.

1. Walk or go to the gym 3 - 4 days a week.
2. Strength training 2 - 3 times a week

About 10 year ago I went for Christmas and it was amazing. All the characters were dressed with scarves and hats. The cookies were real baked cookies it was amazing. This was at the MIckey Christmas Party. They used to have a huge show for the night before xmas, etc. They scaled it back sooo far.. and when I went 3 years ago it was so sad.

The crowds were crazy and the shows were not there. And for that year at least.. it was FREEZING in the parks.

A lot of resorts have gingerbread displays, actually. Beach Club usually has a working gingerbread carousel and some other smaller displays. Contemporary has something in the Grand Canyon concourse. Yacht Club does have the adorable train set.

That sounds right for the parade taping. It can be trying for little ones to sit through (and big ones!). I only stayed for about an hour before I wandered off to play.

Somewhere else also has an impressive gingerbread display. Was it Boardwalk? Beach Club? Both? And is it Yacht Club that has the really neat miniature train set? We've only been the once in December so I don't recall everything, but yes, we definitely took a half day to explore the Epcot resorts and the Grand Floridian (and we stayed at the Poly). Also on that trip we ended up in AKL and POFQ either in passing (FQ) or for a meal (AKL; Boma) so got to see their decorations too. I think they were filming part of the parade when we were there (Dec 2-9) but it was a non-MK day for us, so we didn't see any of it. Not that the kids would have been still for it/interested in it anyway.

The parks are beautiful during the holidays. Keep in mind that Magic Kingdom usually hits capacity Christmas day by noon so it is best to get there at rope drop if you intend to visit. 2013 and 2014 the other parks never hit capacity but were still pretty packed.

Also, a lot of people think that the televised Christmas parade happens in real time at the park on Christmas Day but that isn't correct. The televised parade is usually tapped in early December but you WILL get to see the parade that runs during the Very Merry Christmas party.

Also, don't forget to visit the resorts. They are all decorated beautifully. My favorites are the Grand Floridian (life size gingerbread house where people sell candy!) and Wilderness Lodge.

There are also special holiday offerings people forget about. There is a "sleigh ride" at Fort Wilderness and two special holiday tours where you get to find out more about the holidays and decorations at the parks. One even gets you preferred seating at the Candlelight Processional and front row view of the evening castle lighting.

Did I mention I love the holidays at WDW? :p

I would love to do a Tokyo Disney trip, but our youngest is 10, and I'm not sure I want to spend the money just yet. I'll give her a few more years before we go all the way over there. When we go tho, I'd want it to be over Halloween. I have several CM friends over there and the pictures they post of guests in costume are absolutely amazing.

Wow! I would love to go during Cherry Blossom season!!! Sigh. How lovely. My dream is 2 weeks in Japan, 1 week in DL, and the other in maybe Tokyo or Kyoto? But I want to see the big city of Tokyo, not interesting to me. I want to see the beauty of Japan.

I want to run all the races!

Yes, my son is in the Navy and has been stationed in Japan for quite a few years and also his wife is from Yokahama. It is definitely a dream trip, the people and culture are amazing in addition to a beautiful country. I was lucky to see so much in the 2 wks I was there. I saw Tokyo Disney and we even took a road trip to Osaka and went to Universal Studios and Kyoto. I am glad I had my family there as I would never have been able to manage the trains or find my way as there aren't any English signs and not many speak English either. If you ever get the chance, do it. I also went in the spring during the cherry blossoms....wow!

Today is a new day. I can't change yesterday or know what tomorrow will bring. I can only control right here, right now.

I've been during November when it was decorated for the holidays, but I've never been during actual holidays.

I will be going back in just 2 weeks (2 days after the New Year)... my son works at DisneyWorld and my hubby is sending me down there to see him for my Christmas present this year!

Jumping ahead, I am eagerly awaiting the next Food and Wine Festival and the Flower & Garden Festival. My girlfriend even took her grandson there to get his first haircut ....yes, they do that too! It's such an amazing place!

I'm glad you can understand me with all my typos! Small keyboards and print are not conducive to correct spelling! Yes, it's fun to explore the resorts too. I have a friend who takes the weekend to just walk around the resorts during the holidays to see the decorations. There is just so much, I don't think I'll ever tire of Disney. I've been to Disneyland in CA, DisneyWorld here in FL and was even lucky enough to go to TokyoDisney! That leaves one more park on my bucket list!

I think because I have gone so often I wouldn't be bothered by the crowds. I'd probably spend more time in the resorts than the parks though.

Never been at Christmas! I have been lucky enough to get to go once to see all the holiday decorations, but that was early December 2012. Not sure that I've ever really WANTED to go over Christmas itself because of the crowds, but maybe I'll change my mind one year...

I have friends who moved there over the summer and live about 45 minutes away. They go ALL. THE. TIME. So I bet they'll be there at least a couple times this week!

The parks vary in their times but Epcot was open at 9AM and some stay open until 1AM! That's a lot of Disney ven with crowds. I do not ride the buses during heavy times but park at Eocot and use the bosts and monorail and even go back to drive to Hollywood Studios from Epcot because it's faster. Again, being a pass holder spoils me because I don't pay for parking!

I cheat! I have an annual pass as I live about 1 1/2 hrs from DisneyWorld. I was there 2 weeks ago and I always go early. Epcot opened at 9AM and it was pretty empty for the first few hours. We park hopped to 3 parks thru the day nd Magic Kingdom was busy but Hollywood Studios was packed at dusk for the spectscular Osborne lights. Hsving a pas allows me to pick and choose and not wait in long lines becsuse I know I can go back!

I've never been over Christmas either, but I'd love to some time. One tip that I hear a lot is, if you are planning going to a park, pick which one and stay there, because if you leave, you run the risk of not able to get back.

Or go early, do as much as you can, and leave to go back to your resort.

A few things we've learned on our Christmas visits are:
1) Magic Kingdom is empty at rope drop Christmas morning. Like... a couple hundred people tops. You will have the place to yourself, walking on rides, for about two hours.
2) I think the best spot to watch the Christmas parade, safe from the crushing crowds, is to make a lunch reservation at Tony's. Get there early, and ask to be seated outside. The parade will drive right in front of you, and you'll have the best seat in the house.

Christmas is one of the busiest and coolest times to be at Disney. But the crowds can kill you. We have done it a couple of times, and I'd love to hear from anyone else who has been at that time of year. What are your tricks and tips?
