Next year, I'm getting the flu shot! I took it last year, along with the pneumonia shot. It helped. Somehow, I kept missing it this year. It seems to have caught up with me. I went to the family practitioner yesterday. In light of my recent heart surgery, and my persistent sore throat (which wasn't strep), she put me on an antibiotic to prevent strep or pneumonia along with orders to take it easy and stay hydrated. My birthday was last Friday (27th), and I spent part of it on the couch under a fleece blanket trying to stay warm. My kitty cuddled with me and helped keep me warm. That's why I haven't been here lately. I can tell the antibiotic is working; my throat isn't nearly so sore. She told me this virus is taking its twists and turns before it wears itself out. I believe it, because I woke up this morning with my eyes matted shut. Prayers appreciated. emoticon

Eve, Smart move exercising at the Healthplex where it's nice and cool!

We're under a heat advisory for the next 4 days. Fairly confident we're going to go up and over 110 degrees here again. I think this may be our 4th spell since June with temps that have gone above 110. Like you said, it's been brutal.

Do be careful in the heat. They warned me not to exercise outside if it's too hot, especially with high humidity. Likewise, I'm also not supposed to exercise outside if it's below 30 degrees, and definitely not allowed to shovel snow.

Eve,

So good to hear from you. You have made remarkable progress! Congratulations on reaching maintenance and sustaining it for several months. And, you're successfully progressing through rehab too. That's great! Do take care in the Texas heat. Wishing you continued success in improving your condition. emoticon

Hi all,

Just thought that I would check in, it has been a while...living with heart failure 7 thyroid disease is not fun, but trying to keep moving forward & fight the good fight...I will forever be grateful that I read Dr Esselstyn's book & started down this path...I have been in maintenence for the past several months weight wise, stay between 110 to 112 pounds, all my labs have improved. I still do not have the stamina that I would like, but working on building it...I completed phase 1 and 2 of rehab, & now I have joined the Healthplex & go three times a week. I don't breathe well in this Texas heat, so stay in except when I have to go out...I am determined to improve this condition as much as I can! Hope everyone else is coping...
