Thanks for posting this! I have been frustrated that no matter how much work I've done, my scale has barely budged! But I have noticed that the muffin top roll hanging over the top of my pants has decreased... so that makes me feel a little better... but still determined to get that scale # down!

Good information to keep in mind. A person may be loosing weight, but gaining muscle and the results on the scale will be slower. The muscle weight is healthier than fat weight. Thanks for sharing. emoticon

That's a good point... It's not so much about weight rather than size... It's like how Spark people have a way to track our measurments as well as weight...

Well said!
I'm focusing more on how my clothes feel than on the scale. In fact, I'm determined to only weigh myself once a month and the rest of the time judge my progress on how I feel and how my clothes are fitting. Building lean muscle mass and a stronger, fitter body is my top priority. So, if I can do that and fit into a size 4/6 then I will have been successful regardless of what my final weight might be.
It's nice to know that my thinking is on the right track - the clothes don't lie! Thanks for the info!

A pound of fat is equal to the size of a grapefruit. A pound of muscle is equal to the size of a tangerine. THAT is the reason why we can workout really hard and do everything right and still not lose weight! We ARE losing weight, fat weight and replacing it with muscle weight. So, think of it this way...

If a woman is 150 pounds and is sedentary and has alot of fat compared to her muscle ratio, she will be two thirds bigger than a 150 pound woman who is leading a healthy lifestyle. The next time you see a lean muscular woman go by, realize that she may way MORE than you! lol For example, when I was in High School, I was a cheerleader and very very active. I also needed to lose a few according to me. Well, when i went to the DR's for my checkup, he told me that if I lost one more pound, he would put me in the hospital! You want to know how much I weighed? 140! Sounds laughable, huh? Well, I'm 5' 8" and muscular genetically. I was a size 4-6. I WAS too thin. Doesn't that make you think differently about what your scale says? I always remind myself of this when I see how small the numbers are for others. Weight is as individual as the person. Remember the next time your scale isn't budging, that if you replaced all of your extra fat with an equal amount of pounds in muscle, you would not lose one pound, but lose two or three dress sizes! That sounds good to me...

I am 5'8" with an athletic build and working hard to make the best of it!
