It's been just a little over a month, I am good with the water, and the activity level but I can't eat as much carbohydrate at is recommended. I have been insulin resistant for many years. 55% carb has aforded me an extra 8 lbs. and has caused extreme sugar ups and downs.( Complex Carbs) Very frustrated, but still plugging along!

Today is my month celebration with Spark People and I have enjoyed the articles, the challenge of getting those cups of water in me, realizing the calories in little items not in my food plan and that this is a LIFESTYLE for better health. Aha! The penny has dropped.

It's been month and I too have realized that 1200-1500 calories only looks small on paper but when you make good choices it can be alot of food. I'm down 15 lbs. and pretty happy.

My month has had many small aha! moments, but a big one just happened yesterday. I really wasn't feeling well and hadn't slept at all the night before, so I decided not to do my am workout. When I got home from work I still felt pretty bad, so I didn't go for my pm walk. (1st day since starting that I didn't do some kind of cardio.) I felt VERY guilty. I started the old mindset of being a failure and why bother. But I woke up this am and decided to forgive myself and to get back on track and that 1 day of rest does not make me a looser. I need to make this a lifestyle not a "diet plan"
So I did my 10 min cardi kickboxing video and I feel good!

I agree with GUISBROGAL - I had plenty of aha moments.

- 1200 - 1500 calories is not only doable, but I even find myself at the lower end each day
- working out really can be fun, and there are times I look forward to it
- I was able to lose 10 pounds in the month of May - keeping right on my goal of losing 30 lbs by the time I graduate college in August.
- Sparkpeople is a lifesaver, and I only wish I discovered it much earlier

Well done girls! My whole month was full of 'aha' moments to be honest.

I found out that I do actually quite enjoy my gym work. I can live on 1200 - 1550 cals without dying, I can go to places and take a sandwich with me.

I am going to Bramham, a big three day horse event, here in Britain next week and I am camping with a friend. We have planned our meals and I actually feel I will be able to go without putting on all the weight I have lost so far. Huge hugs to my friend too for supporting me despite not being on a diet herself!

I did my first water aerobics class in two years today, proof positive I am getting better at last. It's been a long haul before and after heart surgery, but I am getting there. Yay!

We traditionally go out to dinner every Friday. The first two weeks on this program, I refused to go because I didn't want to be tempted and possibly re-gain the few pounds I had already lost. Then it occurred to me, most restaurants have low-cal meals on their menus. So this past week, I had a healthy dinner out and didn't go over my calorie intake for the day. My "aha" moment was realizing I can still do the things I enjoy, I just need to make wiser choices when doing them.

What are your "aha" moments? Does anyone one have a great success story to share? I'm pretty proud of turning down the boss's pizza treat lunch and losing 10 pounds this month! Go SparkPeople!!!
