I do wish you luck. It is a goal I would love to emulate.

Got to the gym this morning, despite myself, so once again, I feel virtuous. I did several other errands, too.

Never did do much of anything yesterday, but doze and read and recline.

This morning, I got my 1.2 mile walk in and feel better already, LOL! There are a couple more routes to try and then some mixing and matching to do. That should keep me busy for a while.

Going to try to do at least ONE full regulation pushup by the end of the month, wish me luck.

Have a great day!

I was very proud of myself for going out for a walk yesterday morning. Today is my housework day so I feel as though I get enough exercise with that!

Well, I for one am looking forward to this dual challenge! Thanks for putting it together Frannie!

It was rainy this morning so of course I wimped out on my walk. overcast skies might open up at any time, but I am determined to get a walk in or at least my exercise bike. That might be more practical today.

Hope everyone has a great one!

Okay, this is what we are going to do for our Fall Challenge! You can just pick one or do both.

1. Add at least one fruit and veggie to your load everyday. If you are already a veggie and fruit eater then you should expand your choices, eat something totally new at least once a week. Be sure to come to the challenge forum and let us know how you are doing at least once a week. Also let us know what your issues are and maybe someone can help you!

2. Pushups ladies, where ever you are starting from begin to add pushups to your upper body routine at least 2 days a week. I will try and find some good resources for helping build up, if you have any let us know! Some will start with wall pushups, that is okay, some can do it with the counter, some can do the girlie brand on the floor and I bet there has to be someone who can do the full on pushup! You need to either add to what you are doing and try to build to the next level or begin doing them.

Sunday morning - should be a nice day.

Waiting for the sun to come up so I can get my walk in.

Upper body is so complicated. Like Barbara, I can do the plank and can lift weight - but darn I cannot do a standard push up. I do what I call 'Sinkups' - countertop push ups. If we use that as the challenge, I will give it my best effort to do a real one!

I hate pushups, but NEED to do them. My shoulders are so weak. I'll do them on the wall or counter. I'm in for a push up challenge.

Had an early doc appt so I am here late today.

I like the 'add one fruit and veg' part - and the bonus point incentive for trying something new! Maybe that will get me to finally try Kale, LOL.

The push-up idea is a good one, so is a pick your own exercise and get good at it. I belong to a team whose sole purpose is to do 10 push ups, any style, every day. No prizes or penalties, just do them. (Pure Dedication is the name of the team if you are interested) I admit, my interest has been flagging, but I really need an incentive to work those upper arms and shoulders.

That's my two cents. Whatever you decide, Frannie, I'm in!

Btw, the doc (neurologist) says he's pretty sure what I have is an inflammatory disease called Tolosa-Hunt syndrome. Not a nerve tumor, as the ENT who did the surgery at the request of the neurosurgeon said HE thought..

But since the biopsy was kind of inconclusive about this (but DID concluse no cancer), we aren't really any further ahead. Still messing with my prednisone dose and hope it doesnt flare up again.

I can deal with this, as long as I don't have to go back to extremely high dose pred again. UGH, that laid me out.

So, as doc says, it's not BAD news.

I can't do floor pushups at all. I do them on the counter.

Okay, I think for the food challenge adding 1 fruit and one veggie each day is a good one. Added points would go to anyone who added a brand new fruit of veggie.

Now for the exercise, what would you guys think of adding a pushup challenge? Everyone would start at what ever level was good for them, and then set themselves a goal to either be able to do more or to move from say wall pushups to counter pushups.

Another idea would be just to add strength but that is not good for people who are already doing that well.

Or we could just go for a personal exercise goal, posted to the challenge forum and then updates on how you are doing. As an example I might decide I needed to add strength training so my goal would be to add st 3 times a week. At the end of each week I would post whether I had reached my goal or not.

Another thing I was thinking of adding was points, you would get 5 points each week you posted and then at the end of the challenge we would announce the winners. Okay, we can't give fabulous prizes but we could announce it on the site and post something in the comments section of the winners Spark Page. We could also encourage members to give them a spark goodie for congratulations. Or something similar. Come up with ideas, I am open to anything that might help us get motivated to make the changes we all need.

What do you guys think?

I can do wall pushups, ball pushups, planks--but I can't do a decent push up on the floor at all!! It's one of my goals.

A fruit and veggie challenge is a great idea for a food challenge. Here are a couple of ideas, let me know what you prefer:

1. Eat at least one fruit or veggie that is new to you (I love fruits and veggies so this would be fun to me!)

2. Add at least 1 fruit and 1 veggie to what you usually eat (this would make it easier for those who have a hard time with this, you don't want to make it too challenging.) So if you usually only eat 1 each day, you would want to try to eat 3 each day.

3. Eat the minimum of 5 fruits and veggies each day. This one is probably optimal but some people have a very hard time with this, they just don't like fruits and veggies so asking them to eat 5 each day may be pushing it.

The last idea is to make it all 3 and you get to choose the one you want for your fall challenge. The challenge will run from October 1st to November 31st.

Now for an exercise challenge. Give me some ideas guys and let me know what you like for a fruit and veggie challenge.

Thursday!

I like the idea of somehow getting veggies in the challenge. I have been having a hard time with those myself. Might be time to make a big pot of bean and veggie soup to stock in the freezer - makes a good fall lunch.

I got my walk in this morning, almost a mile, and one set of pushups on the sink. I am such a coward, I haven't even gotten down on the floor to see if I can do ANY there, LOL. Pushups have always been a challenge for me to do - time to get serious about it.

Gonna be officially out of my 50s in a couple weeks, and into the '+' part of the team. Since I've been making an effort to walk in the mornings, I've been feeling pretty good, so I think I'll skip the b'day this year and just stay here for another year! if only.........

Have a great one!

I need to have more go to dinners in the freezer. Just getting the time to do the batch cooking is a challenge, though. Maybe some crockpot cooking...

I'm up for a dual challenge. I have a tough time with VEGGIES and a tough time with EXERCISE. Well, I have a tough time with A LOT of things!

I did a lot of big batch cooking while my folks were alive. I kept their freezer stocked with about 50 individual meals at all times (about 2 weeks of lunch and dinner for two). You'd think I could do it for myself. Somehow, I don't get around to it. There is a chicken dish I made for them that I have been having a taste for, so I may get busy and get that one done, as well as the meatballs.

Frannie, I like the idea of a dual challenge! I will need to think about some ideas.

About to step out on a new walking route this morning - hoping it's close to a mile. It should be close - hope it makes it.

Have a great one!

I love big batch cooking! It makes life so much easier. Since 2 of mine moved out I cook for far fewer and am having a hard time adjusting amounts. So I end up freezing a lot because I cooked too much! When my son moved out that really put a dent in the amount I needed to cook. My older daughter, her husband and daughter live with us, he is building a business and not making too much profit yet. They usually get home to late to eat dinner, but I never know. So I just freeze things to pull out later. I hate cooking for just me so I can pull something out of the freezer!

It was a gorgeous morning so I walked to work, I am probably going to walk home too! I love this weather, it is cool in the morning and lower 70s in the afternoon! I hope all of you were able to get in some exercise!

Anyone up for a fall challenge! Since mom got sick I have not come up with any. I think we all need a little reving up so lets come up with a great challenge idea! We could do more than one and then you could pick the one that fit your needs best. A food challenge and an exercise challenge. Give me some ideas! I will send out a team email to get people involved when we have a good idea!

I finished the last of my freezer meatballs last night as a matter of fact. I love having food in there to just grab since I frequently don't feel like cooking for myself. In fact, I think tonight I will hit the meatloaf I made this weekend....

Oh, oops! Then DON'T DO IT Barb!

My own scale is playing games with me. up a couple, down a couple. On the whole, no change. I can directly relate it to my eating habits - which I am struggling to get under control. Sadly, my appetite seems to be at the whims of prednisone. I need to find protein munchies instead of carbs.

I've been thinking of making up a big batch of small meatballs and keep some in the fridge at all times, so I have something to stuff into the mouth that isn't too many calories. We'll see if I get the motivation to do it, LOL!

Got my mile walk in this morning, so there's that.

Have a great day!

Well, Fall is here, time to say goodbye to the feet. Will be wearing shoes until spring instead of my sandals and flip flops. Sigh. They hate being closed up.

Barbara - it's okay - change the ticker! YAY! You will feel great when you do!

Today is one of those days that can't make up it's mind if it wants to be cool or warm. The sun was supposed to come out by now, but it is still overcast and cloudy. I want the sun.

I should be using this time to remember how to do this in the fall, LOL. Last year was just a write off for me, and I don't think I had much success the year before that, either. I have had good Fall/Winters - I just have to remember what I did!

Have a great one!

Hi everybody, even though I joined the team I really have not been active here. My name is Leah, I'm a 50 year old college freshman...art major at a small university in AL. How's everybody doing? I'm officially starting over today.... tracking my food and water... and planning at least 3 days a week of at least 30 mins cardio on each. I reset my goals and stuff on SP for a fresh start. Have a great Sunday!

Stayed the same this week on the scales but I weigh in on Thursday - my b-day - and am only 1 pound from being down 105 pounds so I might make that. Convention food makes it hard and this is the second weekend in a row of eating out. I did really well today with a only eating a little bit of the cake - dumped stuff on it before I nibbled it all up. The real killer is the hospitality room - all the church ladies have been baking and preparing food for it - the salvation though was a beautiful fruit center piece that said "eat me". There were cups of fresh blueberries, blackberries, peaches, bananas, apples, etc. I LOVE fruit and they were YUMMY. There were also baklava, pumpkin rolls, cookies of every sort, candies, etc. I did NOT go crazy but some did jump into my mouth. Drinking water and avoiding the room helped a lot.

Gotta run. Have a great weekend.

So the scale was not rude this morning--hopefully, it will stay that way. Meanwhile, I am exhausted. I got to bed at 2:20 am this morning and got up at 6:30!!

Morning!

Really have to buckle down today and make some progress on getting things into the right places! I just look around and get overwhelmed. Where to start? I don't have one room finished, so I think that I have to actually pick one, finish it up and move on from there. It's the only way I can think I'll ever get through this. Talk about disorganized!

I am healing well from biopsy, so says the doc. Back to the neurologist next week to find out where we go from here.

Heading out for morning walk as soon as the some comes up (about 45 minutes). That will oil up the joints a little and maybe get me motivated.

Have a great day!

Bgumba, I gave up on organization long ago. I used to try to be organized, now I just try to be less disorganized otherwise chaos would reign supreme! I discovered some years ago that I was probably one of those girls with ADD who did not get identified. I cope pretty well but it does mean I have to work very hard to be more organized.

Jumpup, the stress of moving and unpacking, in fact the stress of any major life change causes that kind of eating. I find dark chocolate can help me too. But stress can derail anyone.

Jumpup, I hear you! I am a bit concerned about what the scale will tell when I get home tomorrow because I have eaten things I normally would not. But, food was not something I could control, except to not eat at all, and that sure ain't gonna happen!!

LOL, Barbara! Thanks!!

So glad you have this time with grandson. They grow up too fast.

Bgumba, those are good distances to have mapped out. I need to figure out a 2 mile walk that doesnt repeat itself (I know I'd never do the second part).

Won't get to it today, Have 2 doc appts and it's trash night, but I should be able to get the bike and push ups in.

It's the food. I binged last night on junk that I went out to buy! On purpose! I was craving chocolate and I have none in the house. I have got to get to the grocery store. I know I need to have my dark chocolate bite in the house - 1 oz every day - or I go off the rails like I did last night.

Here's to a more sensible food day! I need to plan it out now.

Here Comes the Sun!

It sounds like everyone is keeping busy.

Barb, I'm glad your grandson had a great first birthday. I'm hoping to get a visit with my 2 within the next month.

Jumpup, keep up the good work with the exercise. I live in a subdivision without sidewalks, but have my walking routes laid out. Our usual walking routes are either 2 or 2.75 miles, depending on our mood. Occasionally I will walk downtown (about 1.5 miles each way) or to the major shopping area about 2.5 miles each way. Hubbie doesn't like for me to do those walks alone, so it doesn't happen very often. I am blessed to live in a small town with lots of adjoining subdivisions, so I can change up my walking routes to check out different scenery on a regular basis.

Eastern Virginia is enjoying the transition to fall. Most of the farmers have picked their corn, and the peanuts and cotton will be the next to be harvested. I love the fall temps, but grass cutting is more challenging. We have several chestnut trees in our yard, so we have to spend a lot of time picking up the nuts and the burrs before the grass can be cut. Of course, the squirrels and deer are eating (or storing) a lot of the nuts and acorns. I wish they would eat the burrs as well. LOL

I'm about to decide that organization is not for me. LOL I worked during the summer to get my sewing and craft items organized. Now I have lost a smocking pattern that I want to use for my granddaughter's Christmas dress. I know the pattern was with my sewing supplies since I had used it this spring to make an outfit for a friend, but now I can't find it anywhere. I'm beginning to think that I accidentally threw it away while sorting and putting things in order. I have been through my pattern drawer three times, and in the cabinets and cedar chest that I arranged as well. The bad thing is that it will be difficult to replace since I bought the pattern 19 or 20 years ago. I just hope it appears in some strange place from my having a senior moment! LOL

Morning!

Got my mile in this morning, I am so pleased with myself. Still to do: push-ups and bike, but I'll get to those later.

Doc had me do a bone density scan yesterday. Haven't gotten results yet, but walking is a good way to stave off osteoporosis, so as long as the weather maintains, (and the knees hold out), I'll get some kind of walk in.

Have barely scratched the surface of getting settled. My food intake is waaaaay off, partly because I am still so disorganized.

You know that Mickey Mouse movie Fantasia, where the wizard's apprentice figures out how to get the magic to do the kitchen? Yah, well, I want that.

Have a great day!

Good for you, Garvco.

Not getting much exercise, and probably eating more than normal since I am away from home, but I am doing the best I can, and will get back to normal at the end of the week. Just loving visiting my grandson!

Hi everyone. I have been away from posting but not from attaining my goals! I thought I would check in and try to do a better job of logging food, exercise and using the support of the teams.

This fall is a new experience for me. I have 2 children off at college, 1 back home after graduating college and 1 a jr. in high school. So now the oldest and the youngest can have some "time" together. The oldest is only working part time so that she can work on her Med School application process which will involve traveling to interviews. She has a really nice set up being a nanny in the late afternoon-bedtime. The mother is home or taking 1 of the kids to a lesson on team practice. Nice. They pay well, so it is working out.

I am trying to get used to having someone else home with me for much of my day. It is forcing me to plan my days better and has had one great consequence - I joined a fitness gym. It is a serious, total body/boot camp type of place and I love it! All shapes, sizes and ages of people. The classes push you and the instructor's expectation is that you work to your potential. I am thrilled with my results. My success with this gym has spread to my eating and drinking habits - why waste all my progress on poor food choices and unnecessary alcohol?

Have a wonderful day!

Good Morning, all.

Congrats Berry! that is a great record so far for September.

As for suburban walking routes, I'm just missing my old (urban) neighborhood, steps from the Lake and the park with a nice path along the water's edge. I'll get over it. I agree with not walking alone in wooded areas - I've never felt comfortable doing that either.

The point is to get walking! The sidewalks are a little uneven, so I'm not going to be listening to anything until I am familiar with them - I have sprained my ankles sooo many times over the years, I have no desire to do it again, LOL!

Ready for the sun to come up so I can get out for the next route test. I have a doc appt this afternoon, so I must get out this morning.

Have a great active day!

Hard to believe that Sept. is half over. I set a goal to exercise 25 out of 30 days. So far I've missed 3 so I'm 13 / 16.

It surprises me sometimes at how few steps I have walked, when it feels as though I have been on my feet all day. Once I get home, it will e back to schedule.

Jumpup, most of my walking routes are just suburban also, I can walk in the forest preserve but it just doesn't feel safe when I am alone. Listening to music really helps and I know a number of people who like to listen to books.

Barbara - glad the party was a success!

Nancy - sounds like you got a winner on your hands, hope you're ready for it, LOL!

I spent some time walking down the street and back to measure the steps. Only a third of a mile. There are additions I can make to the route to stretch it out, this is a development with a lot of connecting streets.

Today, I am going to go in the opposite direction to a destination (gas station on the corner of the major intersection - pretty much the only thing around for long distances). This route will take me past my elementary school and we always assumed that was a quarter mile, probably measured by car. This time I will use the pedometer.

There are a couple more walking routes I can try out, but none of them are going to be very long or interesting. Pretty much all suburban.

Once I get all the local routes mapped out, I will drive to the parkway (and park in the driveway) and start measuring that out.

Not quite settled in, but I need to do something ELSE for a while! Still have boxes to open and sort through.

Have a great day!

Had a great time and was blessed as I went to a conference on Small Church issues. It was great to see people from several different states and to both make new friends and to renew old friendships. Went an hour to church, then rode with our pastor for about 2 hours and finally met someone else and rode for another 5-6 hours to our destination. The first night was really laid back and we have wonderful music with a live band during the registration time and while waiting for dinner to be served, then after dinner a fabulous keynote speaker who talked about ideas, tips, and success stories. The next day was filled with speakers and smaller workshops and sessions on a variety of topics related to small churches. The pastor and I went to different sessions to get the maximum information. During lunch, I walked over to the nearby art museum and gift shop where I thoroughly enjoyed browsing through the art and gift items - didn't buy anything, but enjoyed looking.

I got home around 11:30 and had to leave this morning for church by 8 a.m. - after church we had a vestry meeting that lasted a LONG time because we had so much to discuss and so many things to be dealt with (rarely took this long when we didn't have a full-time minister and a MUCH more limited schedule) - LOL we SAID we wanted someone who was into outreach and was willing to help us grow - you REALLY have to watch what you wish for - we are SMALL but have added a BUNCH of new things to our normal activities and are SUPER busy every week now. WHEW!! We got a dynamo and someone who is committed to making us stretch beyond our comfort zones. I LOVE IT.

Nancy from West Virginia - EST
With love and caring from Nancy ... wishing all of you a wonderful, blessed, and precious day.

Jumpup, Barbara, it is as painful when bad things hit your kids as it is when it is you.

I spent most of the weekend with my granddaughter. Mommy had a meeting so granddaughter and I went shopping. It was great, no Mommy to say "Oh, you can't spend that much! We had a ball. I got her some much needed shirts for fall and winter and then bought her some sparkly shoes and jewelry. She had so much fun. We made breakfast together this morning (okay, I made it but she loves to help). I had to beat the eggs in a very large bowl because she likes to beat them too and that can be quite a mess! Then we went shopping at Target because I had promised her a new purse when we were at the shoe store yesterday and they had no little girl purses there. I don't often buy her lots of things like that but I do think it is okay once in awhile.

It is so much fun to have her around, they have had to live with us while dad builds up a new business. I am going to miss them so much when they move out. They just announced that he is finally beginning to show a profit so it will be awhile yet but I do have to prepare myself!

I hope everyone is enjoying a nice weekend. Yesterday was beautiful but chilly. We had 90s earlier in the week and it is in the upper 50s to low 60s today and wet.

How did the party go? Did everyone sugar rush and then crash? Was it fun? I love babies.

Still unpacking here - I KNOW there are still things missing, but I can't figure out what boxes to look in next!

Did not get on outdoor bike yesterday - call me a coward, go ahead, but I did do stationary bike.

Talked to daughter for a while yesterday - she was running errands while hubby stayed home with kids. She was so happy to be out of the house, LOL. Right now, she's only working one day a week, she wants to be able to stay home with them while they are small and how lucky she is that she is able to do that. The older one was in daycare a couple days a week, until the baby was born. She's got her hands full. I have to laugh, but she loves it. I am so grateful that she is happy.

Have a great day!

First Birthday? First Birthday? OH! Happy First Birthday!

I so miss being around my g'kids. #2 will be 1 in late November. Maybe I can swing a visit for that.

Nice beautiful sunny cool day today, great weather, I love it. Perfect for walking. But no body walks around this neighborhood. My old neighborhood was full of bikes and walkers and strollers and dogs and a morning like this would be a busy one on the street. Here it is quiet. Sigh. Oh well, what's done is done.

I might try my bike this afternoon. If not, back on the stationary bike.

Otherwise, just keep shuffling those boxes around to the right places, LOL.

Thanks, Frannie! He is sweet. We all trooped in and sang Happy Birthday to him this morning which he found very fun. We opened presents from his uncle (my son), me and a couple that came in the mail. He'll have more at this party this afternoon. My daughter and I spent the entire day--quite literally--baking the cupcakes and cookies yesterday. I think he might get a bit overwhelmed today, but we shall see. Tonight--the entire family will crash is my prediction!

Morning!

Barbara have a wonderful time visiting daughter!

Settling in continues, little bit by little bit, one shelf gets done, another....

Cold and rainy day today - too much like Fall! And to think we set high temp records two days ago, with temps near 100!

I did my execise bike this morning, about to do my "sinkups", but honestly, today, I am tired. I may not get much else done today - I may just take a nice long nap, LOL!

Have a great one.

JumpUp, I know it must be a frustrating wait to get things out of the house so you can get settled. My daughter at college brought home clothes at the beginning of summer and still hasn't sorted what she wants to keep from what she wants to get rid of. I would like to clean her carpet and rearrange furniture, but it isn't possible until she decides what to do with all the piles. I told her earlier this week that I was going to make an "executive decision" if she didn't take care of it during fall break. I guess we'll have to wait and see who decides what to throw!
:-)

This afternoon I need to get outside and pick up chestnuts. This week they have decided it's fall, so no grass cutting until the nuts are rounded up and the burrs are thrown away. Since the grass needs cutting, I guess I had better get busy!

I have to agree that unpacking is the pits. I dislike that even more than packing. And having to try and fit your stuff into less space is no fun at all. Of course, on the reverse side, I find we fill up however much space we have!

Jumpup, it is good to hear your health is okay and that some of the "stuff" is going to make an exit!

Thanks Barbara, yes. So far it is good news! Except for the increased prednisone - hoping that will be decreased soon - it's too hard on my body.

More of the same for me today. Nephew may be coming over to take out some of the furniture my sister wants. Hope so, I can only do so much with this 'extra' stuff in the way!

Have a great, active day!

I agree that unpacking is miserable, especially if you are unpacking into a smaller space than you left. But otherwise, sounds like good news for you!

Morning!

Just so you all know - unpacking is just as bad as packing, LOL! It is exactly like trying to fit a round peg into a square hole.

This house is a modern ranch, the old one was a century victorian, with a lot of built-in (beautiful wood) cabinets. Here, I am long on 'stuff' and short on places to put it! Gonna be one fabulous garage sale, LOLOL!

Well, at least I am getting lots of lifting in, and a lot more steps per day.

Not quite healed from biopsy yet, but double vision has gone, even though my sight is not yet completely aligned. I am taking it fairly easy on strenuous stuff - doc says I'll know I overdid it when my nose starts bleeding again! Go see neurologist in a couple weeks to find out what's next.

Knock wood, no more evidence of mice - but now is the time of year that they start coming inside. Oh, please, mighty cats - do your jobs!

Another HOT and HUMID day here - stay cool, but have a great one!

Years ago, my cats at the time had a little toy mouse. One of them took great pride in bringing it to my husband. It fell apart so we got a new one since he had such fun with it. Never touched it!!

Jumpup, I have 3 cats in my house and we haven't had any mice until this year. One of the cats is about 16 yo (not sure she was adopted) the other 2 are about 10 or 11. They just watched the little critters scamper and twitched their tails! No chasing, no catching. We had a terrible problem with mice this year. Now my husband will get into mighty mouse hunter mode and that is almost worse than the mice!

Glad your tests results came back as no cancer, do take care of yourself, moving into a new home can definitely be stressful!

Barbara - that is EXACTLY what I am afraid of with my cats! That they sit there and enjoy the show, front legs tucked under, rather than chase them out. On the other hand, I really don't want to wake up with 'gifts' in my bed - how awful would that be!

More unpacking, got to get to grocery store, did one set of 'sinkups' already, couple more to go. Going to try to shift some of the furniture around to get it into the approximate right places today - maybe. I am still waiting for sister to get the furniture of my folks that she wants OUT of here.

Even though I hate to turn it on, I am grateful to have A/C here - for days like today! Have a great one.

Myc ats would have no idea.....

It has cooled off--we hae had mid-90 for a couple of days. Positively cool right now at 92....

I didn't get organized enough to gril the chicken but I made one small breast for myself on the stove, so it didn't take long. Very simple meals, my fav!

It's about to get hot and humid here for a few days, so grilling those chicken breasts sounds like a darn good idea!

I picked up some peaches that look and smell so good. They are perfectly ripe today and I wanted to make a pie, but that would mean getting organized and turning on the oven. Don't know that I will do either. At the very least, though, I must peel and slice them - and maybe freeze them. That might be the perfect idea.

Have a long way to go to get unpacked and 'moved in', so to speak. Discovered evidence of mice in the kitchen (ugh). Hope my cats know what to do.

Have a great day!

I could just copy yesterday's post!! I ended up having fish because I could cook it in the broiler oven and not heat up the kitchen. Tonight I am going to make chicken, no matter what!

With the heat, I am not in much of a cooking mood, so dinners have been spotty. I had a vegetarian one last night--which was fine and tasty, but I get to a point where I crave meat!! Hah! No clue what I will do tonight but I confess that I would love it if I get organized enough to grill a couple of chicken breasts--no heat in the kitchen and automatic second meal!

Must get to store today to get healthy foods in the house!

I have been eating labor day leftover burgers and beans and ribs and stuff for several days now - my girlfriend brought me packages of food from her cookout, God Bless her. All I had to do was heat and eat, but I MUST get back to a healthier selection! Sadly, that means I will have to finish clearing out the kitchen, LOL! at least the stove top and some counter space!

I am cleaning as I unpack and set things up, in addition to sorting through my folks stuff that was left here. This will take a while, but I'll get it done.

Have a great day all!

GOOD news! Not cancer. Benign nerve tissue tumor instead. Will have to go to yet another doc (or back to some) to find out what's next, but - whew, what a weight off my shoulders, no matter what else happens.

Healing well, 'puffy' will last about a month. Ok to do some gentle exercising. Good thing, too because the upped prednisone is already affecting my appetite! I want to eat EVERYthing in sight. Not good at all. Must. Be. Strong.

Have a GREAT DAY!!!

We've had thunderstorms and cooler weather the past few days. It is supposed to get back to the 80's by weekend!?!

... Can't believe I sent my "baby" off for her first day of high school today. 4 more years... Time moves quickly.

I always get the feeling the world starts in ernest the day after Labor Day. Vacays are over, kids are in school or starting this week, the lazy days are over and it's time to put nose to grindstone.

For me, that means - wait for it - UNpacking!!!! LOLOLOL. And if BIL doesnt get washer/dryer hooked up soon, I will be down at the river's edge pounding my clothes on the rocks. (can you even imagine having to do that.... thank god for modern appliances.)

I have follow up with surgeon on Thursday to find out just what on earth has taken up residence in my head. Here's hoping it is good news. They've already upped my prednisone again - oh no. Not as high as it was, but significant. Vision is still double, but I imagine there's still a lot of puffy around the site they explored. It's getting better, so I am not worried.

September to September - let's hope it's a good, positive, healthy, fit year! Get moving.

Nancy, that is so wonderful, congrats!!!

Jumpup, so glad surgery went well and your move was okay.

I all, I have been MIA but trying to keep up. Work is insane right now, I work for a school district in technical support and the beginning of the year is just non stop. By the time I get home I don't care if I ever see another computer much less actually use one. We start the middle of August so school has been in session for 2 weeks now. There is still a ton to do but hopefully by the end of September we will be in a routine. The first 2 weeks I always feel like I have 10 things to do at the same time. Everyone feels that what they want should be my top priority and it can sometimes be difficult to be diplomatic but I maintain my cool.

Hope you all are doing well, lets get out there and move ladies!

Happy September - I am celebrating today - my weight is officially down 100 pounds and I am jumping for joy. The number first appeared on Friday but I didn't DARE believe it because I had just lost 2 pounds and then the next morning I had dropped the last 3 pounds. But, it has stayed down for three days so it is NOW official since I changed my ticker today.
