I believe serenity comes from turning our will and problems over to our Higher Power

I like to think of the 12 Promises...especially, We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace.

This is my favorite one.

It is what YOU MAKE IT!

I find that if I don't pray and write often the willingness to be sober becomes shaky. Addi (my name for the addiction voice in my head) perks up and t get a little shaky in my sobriety. However, I ask for the next right step and listen to see what it is. These steps are life-changing for me.

Step: This step has really helped me to see that all those feelings of inadequacy, rejection, etc., are really quite self-centered. I waste SO MUCH time worrying about how others feel about me, how they (I think) are judging me, don't like me, etc., when they probably aren't even thinking about me at all! And for those who may have been unkind, I have found that when I truly try to see the reason behind the behavior, I find myself praying for them (I know that's a later step) and miraculous things are happening. Either way, I feel FREE letting go of all this.

Tradition: I think this makes sense. I don't really think about it much.

Spiritual: I have always thought I was "willing" but I never thought about " am I willing to go to ANY LENGTH" for my recovery. There's a big difference there!

Tools of Recovery: Literature

Step: Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

Tradition: An OA group ought never endorse, finance, or lend the OA name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property and prestige divert us from our primary purpose.

Spiritual: Willingness

How do you use these as a part of your recovery program?
