State and Federal were done electronically and today I'm walking up to the Post Office to drop off our local return because we broke even on that one (and because I need a walk). I keep the towel around for drying my hands after constant handwashing since there's not much that I sweat anymore.

You can throw in the towel, or you can use it to wipe the sweat off of your face.

Don't give up! Use setbacks as a learning experience and motivation to push forward and prove that you can be successful.

Now they're all back. I got squirrels, chipmunks, and little rabbits. A trappers work is never done.

More adventures in trapping. Something was eating DW's garden and I caught a young rabbit, which I relocated. Later she spotted a full sized rabbit as the damage continued, so I found a new location for the trap. Lo and behold, she goes to work the next day and finds the trap occupied by a groundhog. Wasn't ready for that, but the damage has stopped. Apparently, the rabbit was getting a bum rap.

A near perfect day. After a little mowing, I sat on the porch and read for awhile and just admiring the day. About 83 with 40% humidity and sunshine. So much better than the middle nineties we'd been having.

Well, found some old peanuts and replaced them for me to eat and I'll use the old ones for bait. I think I've got chipmunks as well.

We're pretty fortunate with an old brick house as it seems to stay cool without any help as long as we continue to have cool nights. Once the nights don't cool off much then we'll need the AC.

@NITEMAN3D - LOL - love the idea of spray painting the tails...

I'm told squirrels are highly territorial, so taking them far away makes sense. Also, if they're gaining entrance to the house, only one is likely to be successful (until he/she has a family). Trapping on the ground will certainly catch community squirrels, and I think you'll always have takers as long as the birds drop seed onto the ground. As for my roof squirrel(s), the roof hole is patched, and we got one squirrel, but there may be more. We're watching.

Hey Doug! I see I'm not the only one. I'm probably up to thirty or so over the last several years and there's one back this year already. I knocked his ass for a loop with a broom while he was deeply engrossed in stealing my bird seed. I figured that would scare him off for a while because he flew over the fence and landed in the snow. I don't think it took more than a half hour before he was back. Now that the weather has improved I'll get me some peanuts and set up the traps again. This year I'm going to take them farther away since I read last year that you should take them at least ten miles. I know one guy that paints their tails blue with a spray bomb so he can tell if he's trapping thirty squirrels or one squirrel thirty times. Good luck!

Eating wisely, that is, little junk and basicallly home cooked good food, this is not difficult. The problem for me is portion control. Man, it's easy to eat lots of healthy snacks (e.g.almonds) and hard to break the habit of munching during a movie. Ah well - sometimes I succeed.

After a brief taste of Spring this weekend it looks like we're heading into a chill again. We started the process of opening up the outdoors and found some plumbing issues leading out to the pool house that have to be addressed before much else can happen It was a pretty harsh winter here and one of the pvc pipes cracked.
Looking forward to starting up the vegetable garden and getting my daily cardio outdoors instead of on the treadmill.

It's getting quiet in here again. What's going on guys?

I have a light work week this coming week. Off Tuesday, then half a day Friday and no work Saturday. I'm staying home with my son while wife and a friend of hers go away for the weekend. My son and I are really looking forward to the peace and quiet!

Hello,
I have been around SP since 2011 when my wife mentioned it to me. I sporadically used it but after a visit with my doctor last week I decided to dig deep and try and get my health in order. So I am back. I am a geek, so I have a Bodymedia armband and the withings scale. I track a lot automatically and now I am using SP to log my food. I have chosen a low carb approach since it seems to work for me and I find it easier to follow. I have been as high as 385, I am sitting at 320 with my next goal to be below 300 by May 18 when I will walk my third half marathon. I am looking forward to hearing about everyone's successes emoticon

I am in damage control mode for a few days. Had a birthday on Tuesday and my daughter, who is an aspiring chef, made me a delicious dinner with sugar-free, gluten-free cheesecake for dessert.
Notice I didn't say it was fat-free?
So I'm hitting the treadmill pretty hard as my next weigh-in is Monday.

Fortunately for me none of those items were in the budget this week lol.

I am Irish and love the holiday, but I find it odd that we pay premium $$$ for food that sustained a nation during periods of terrible poverty and famine.

Don't get me wrong they are delicious..... I just wonder if a couple hundred years from now will people pay extra for chicken nuggets and french fries?

So what's up with everyone?

Started a 10 week challenge team here on Spark yesterday and am eager to get back on track and get my health to where it should be yesterday. Yesterday was a great day with a 50 minute walk in the morning and then Week 2/Day 2 completed of the Walk to Run 5K program. Finished the night watching an old episode of King of Queens and did some free weights, sit ups, push ups and stretching at the same time.

How about you guys?

I know how you feel, staying motivated when the choices of out-door activities are less attractive because of the temperature is a challenge. The view from my mountain bike is much better than the one from my treadmill. Just have to keep telling myself that the treadmill is still a healthier view than the one from the couch. emoticon

snow, cold and short on time has put me on the t25 videos, ( i do like them) and tread mill and indoor bike, and I am loving it. Yeah outside is better , but pedalling on the bike while a -25 degree wind chill blows outside, I feel pretty good. I am have my weight creep up the last few weeks so I am resolved to dropping 2 pounds a week for the next 2 months, no excuse, eat less and remain calm and in control.

Warm front came through this week. But the weekend is going to be wet. Had a 26 mile run planned. If it were summer time I would not think twice about running in the rain but this flu season and I don't want to be sick

Cold weather setting in here in the North-east. Activity level dropping back. Scale creeping up and down. Will need to reach back for motivation to keep my weight on at a constant. emoticon

I am happy with where I am.
I will stay here. One step at a time.

Glad to hear you are back at it.

I have been working and working out and racing. the days are getting shorter and a little colder ( fall is here ). I have a ultra marathon at the end of the month that is awesome. Work is a plenty and life is great, Thank the Lord for it all. I am finishing up on my Physical trainer program and am testing the in 2 weeks. I also start a theology class on Wed nights for 4 hours for the next 45 weeks.

So what's up men? Not hearing a lot of chatter out here.

After a brutal few months and getting back to near starting weight I am back and on a huge streak right now... Two consecutive mornings of exercise. Huge!
