I found out an interesting thing when I got my year to date Strava update. It seems that with trainer miles and outdoor miles combined (all of which I track on Strava), I had about 2700 miles for the year going into December. So I guess that in spite of only having 1600 outdoor miles, I've had a good 1100 miles on either my indoor trainer or the cycling studio. I think that's a lot due to the overall crappy weather we've had this year so hopefully that will tilt more towards outside next year!

Good for you getting a new bike carrier. Easier transport is one less barrier to riding somewhere other than home. When I got my small SUV earlier this year, my boyfriend made me a quick release stand so I could put my bike in it standing up with only removing the front wheel.

Also glad to hear that your husband is showing some interest in riding. My boyfriend rides too, but I have found other friends to ride with when he's not around. I hope you got to ride again with the good weather and that he will continue to ride with you.

I only went biking about 10 times this year, mostly on the C & O canal. I do love it, but just when the weather is good for biking it is also good for gardening and the gardening wins out. I did buy myself a new bike carrier, the tray type. It is easier for me to load my bike, and that was one of the mental road blocks against riding. The best thing that happened this year, is that I got my husband to join me. He's never enjoyed biking, but I told him to give it 2 weeks and if he still didn't like it I would never ask again. He decided it was OK. Today it will be 60 degrees, so we should be able to go again.

So I went to check my total miles for the year per my bike computer and find that I am well under my last few seasons. I was at a little under 1600, although after 2 more rides I did hit that mark. The last 2 years I had hit 2,000 and the year before that a high of 2,600.

I talked to some other riding friends and they reported similar decreases. I attribute a lot of it to the weather. We had a number of bike club rides on Saturday and mid-week group rides canceled due to either rain or extreme heat. And now of course we have basically skipped fall, and seem to be headed right for winter. Ugh.

I NEVER ride as much as I mean to. The problem is I have a long list of things I don't do as much as I'd like, and I don't have a matching list of things I'm spending too much time on. But I have the day off today, so no reason not to get another ride in!

You are too funny Rebecca! I take it that means you haven't ridden nearly as much as you would have hoped to. The year went by very fast for me I know. Never enough time to do all the things we want to do.

Oh, no! Is it over? I need to get out a few times before it's slushy and yucky outside.

For many of us in the northern parts of the country, our outdoor riding season is getting to be closer to the end. So how did you do this year? Did you do as much riding as you wanted to do?

If you want to see what my big ride of the year consisted of, check out my post under the "What Big Rides do you have planned for the season?" topic.

I'm also going to analyze the rest of my year and report back. Would love to hear what's going on in your riding world!
