Thank goodness this party is finally going to over. I can imagine how hapoy you are. I am glad the scrapbook is almost done. Thst sounds like a big job too.
Now onto Christmas.
We have company right now but once they leave I will do some decorating and think about our shopping for the holidays. I need to make my list first.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Our holiday was nice, I have never gone to a restaurant on Thanksgiving Day before so that was very different, it was cafeteria style. It was good but there was no Pumpkin or Pecan Pie! My dh was so disappointed, his Thanksgiving just isn't complete without Pumpkin Pie smothered with whipped topping. So I guess I will have to make him a pie for Christmas.

The B&B was lovely, it's 123 years old! It was built on a civil war battlefield. I was lying in bed wondering about the people who had lived there in the past and wishing the walls could talk. The only drawback was the walls were so paper thin, we could hear the guy next to us snoring all night. I'm glad I'm not married to him because he snored really loud, she must wear earplugs! It was nice to get away from it all.

The retirement party is this Thursday afternoon! I think we are all happy that this is soon going to be over. Things are coming together. Still lots of last minute things to do. I finally finished the scrapbook or almost anyway, waiting on people to send me some last minute stuff. My boss and everyone else raved about it. It turned out nice.

Hope everyone is doing well. It has turned cold here, Fall was short-lived as usual. Thankfully winter is pretty short, sometimes it's warm in March but other times it's cold like last year, so only 3-4 months of the cold temps.

Yes, Friday is a paid holiday for me Donna. I'm working from home tomorrow on the scrapbook so that's like a vacation day to me, don't have to get all dressed up with make-up etc. so it's nice. I do have a dermatologist appt. tomorrow for this pre-cancerous spot on my face. She wants to do another procedure, not sure why though. She did a biopsy so I'm thinking maybe she didn't get it all.
My dh is taking me to a Bed and Breakfast on Thanksgiving Day, we are going out to eat and then go there for 2 days. I'm looking forward to it. We both need a break but especially my dh. His job is so demanding and he puts in long hours. He had to take a vacation day Friday, he has just the holiday off.

I'm sorry to hear about your dh and having to go to the ER. I think when you sleep a lot that it's your body's way of healing itself and that you badly need it. I hope that's all it is for your dh. Will keep you both in my prayers.

Not sure if I'll get on here tomorrow or not, but just wanted to let you know how much you all mean to me and I'm grateful for all of you. I know some of you have already celebrated Thanksgiving, I wish we celebrated earlier so that it wasn't so close to Christmas.
Hope all of you have a great weekend! emoticon

Shirley thank goodness you have a holiday this week. Do you work Friday?
We spent last Friday in the ER with concerns of fluid in my DHs lungs. He is taking double diaretics so hopefully thst will correct the problem. We will see. He slept all day yesterday then all night ...
We will see how today goes.....

Just checking in, I'm still around. Super busy with the last minute preps for this retirement party. I worked on it all day Friday and a few hours both Sat. and Sun. and it's still not done. Going a lot slower then I had hoped. Hopefully I can stay home and work on it Wed. Schools are all closed this week.

I wish we had sold tickets. That would have been the answer to our financial woes. My boss has lost sleep over this. I'm losing sleep over this scrapbook! I'll be so glad to see Dec.1st come. Her last day is the 30th of Nov.

Donna, I decided a long time ago you have to stay active to live longer. I need to heed my own advice!

I think we are all struggling with weight loss right now. My dh and I are trying to do Keto. I lost 7.5 pounds the first week, lost 2 the 2nd week, gained 2 back on week 3 and this week I stayed the same. Now with the holidays here it's getting harder, I will be happy if I can just stay the same until Jan. 1st. There's a lot of advantages to eating low carb. I feel so much better, just wish I could get off this plateau!

Guess I better get back to work. Have a good day everyone!

Whoohoo on pounds lost. We have to just keep plugging away at it. I know I am struggling right now too.
My hubby has arthritis in his back and he sure has trouble moving too. I tell him he has to keep moving but his answer is to lay down and rest his back. What do I know......
Off to another doctors appointment again this morning. It will never end.....

Thanks for the sympathy Donna. The pain is mostly in my other hip plus degenerating disks in my lower back. Getting out of bed some mornings can be challenging. It seems to be easing up though. The TOPS scales was kind last night - down one pound. emoticon

Shirley - too bad you can't redirect some of your rain to California. On the bright side, be thankful it's not snow emoticon Wow, that retirement party sure is mushrooming. I guess it's too late to start selling tickets! Sure hope the guest of honour appreciates all the work you're doing.
My cleaning person is here this morning - thank goodness as I can hardly move. A massage yesterday helped a bit & good old T3 takes the edge off - maintaining one's good humour is challenging! I did get to choir practices on Tues. & Wed. though. My appetite is more than fine however emoticon so am not expecting good news at the TOPS scales this evening. emoticon

Good Morning everyone from a the very waterlogged state of Georgia. We are now on Day 4 of practically nonstop rain, it'll stop or just drizzle for an hour and then it'll start up again, been doing this all day and night. It's just crazy. So done with it. I'm beginning to think we should be building an Ark! Supposedly today is supposed to be the last day of this. I sure hope so. Just so tired of it. It's cold too!

Well the retirement RSVPs are still rolling in. We got 8 more yesterday! We are now up to 185 people who have said they are coming, that doesn't count the honoree's family or the people coming from her church. We're not even sure we will have enough space to accommodate all of these people and we only asked the caterer to make enough food for 150 people. We are over $300 short in our budget, not sure where that's going to come from, so now back to the caterer today to see what kind of price she'll give us to add on these extra people. Keeping our fingers crossed and saying a prayer. The party is 2 weeks from today! I'm staying home tomorrow and going to work on the scrapbook, hopefully I can get most of it done.

Have a great day everyone!

Donna, one of the benefits of being a year round employee is we can take vacation any time of the year. I don't have a problem with him going on vacation what I was upset with was he didn't bother to tell me again. The three new people all get away with murder. Millennial's!

Linda, so glad to see you back. You're doing great and it sounds like you're taking your time working back into a full schedule. Good for you! As for the weight I've found writing it all down is the key it seems. We are doing Keto at home and the first week we had a big weight loss, the 2nd week we both lost 2 more pounds and then this past week we gained those 2 pounds back, I think it's funny how we are losing and gaining the same amount of weight. I think I know where we messed up though, but since starting I've just been trying to count the carbs in my head, apparently without much luck, I really think I need to be writing stuff down. This Thursday at work if our Thanksgiving luncheon and we are going out to eat. Not much there that I can eat. Then the following week is Thanksgiving, we are going out to a restaurant, I usually cook a big meal but the last few years I think why bother for just the two of us. Then to add on to that, after we finish eating on Thanksgiving Day we are going to a Bed and Breakfast for two days so more eating out. I just hope we don't totally blow it and gain back everything we've lost. It's hard to eat out while doing Keto I've found.

Well I'm at work after all. My wonderful? asst. (not) didn't bother to tell me he was going on vacation this week until Friday afternoon. It seems everyone else in the office knew but me, not the first time. I mentioned it to my boss this morning and she just brushed it off. When I approach him about it he will swear he had told me and that I just forgot. I know my memory isn't that bad. I write things down especially stuff like that. GRRRR! Not a happy person, I guess it's a good thing I did come in because I walked into a big mess and I don't even think he would know what to do to fix it. I'm going to tell him from now on he needs to send me an email in advance. I guess I'll take Friday off to work on the scrapbook. I've gotten 4 pages done, and have a lot more to do! I'm feeling kind of overwhelmed.

Anyway I'm so far behind at work it's crazy so I guess I better get busy! Hope everyone has a great day. We are supposed to have cold, rainy weather all week! Ugh!

Hello, Linda. Good to see you posting again - I was wondering how you were doing. Sounds like you`re making steady progress emoticon at work and making some good decisions about volunteer activities. You'll get a handle on the weight soon enough, especially by logging your food which is an excellent strategy. One of the few that works for me, that's for sure!

Hello There!

I've been missing for a while now! No real problems just busy and tired with getting back to work. I am still on modifications but adding a little longer and more effort each month with the Dr form, Now I am up to walking or sitting up to an hour and standing up to 1/2 hour. Push or pull or lift up to 50 pounds from waist up. 20 from ground up. I work my normal shifts- that includes every second weekend with 8 hour days. It is not bad for my job but still not enough to push wheel chairs, move tables for activities or run some activities.

My weight has gone up again rather fast so my daughter and I plan on getting back to logging our food.

I have been seeing a few people for the first time in months and getting compliments about how much thinner and younger I am looking. Not actually much thinner than the last time I saw them but Ill take any compliments I can get. grin. I think mainly I am moving better and in so much less pain so I look a lot healthier.

I'm still doing Girl Guides and back to singing in a very small community Choir with my husband, I have not gone back to the art group I used to run. It was a lot of stress with changes in that organization and as a volunteer it was too much. Maybe someday again but right now I am leaving it alone.

I want to work a lot more on my blog and have been trying to learn more about social media. I haven't got very far but it is certainly a distraction.

I will read back and try and catch up with what I missed sometime next week.

Hugs!
Linda in Winnipeg

Hey everyone! Didn't want you to think that I've forgotten all of you. I'm really struggling right now, family problems, the first year anniversary of my dad dying is this weekend. My computer at work is running at a snails pace. I can't get anything done. I spent 8 hours trying to do something that should have taken 2 and it's still not right. I just had to give up. Add in problems with a few coworkers, getting ready for this big retirement party - yep I'm a little stressed. I'm taking Monday off to work on the scrapbook, I'm looking forward to just staying home, hopefully but I'm not counting on it maybe my computer will have straightened out. One program that all of the librarians count on is running really slow, so thankfully it's not all just me. But I'm having problems with another program I use. I guess I'll just sit and twiddle my thumbs the rest of the day. UGH!

Anyway, thanks for letting me vent. Sorry!

Good morning team, things are going ok here. Dh is having some bad nights which means I am having them too. We spent the morning st the hospital yesterday as he had a heart test. He was pretty groggy the rest of the day so it was pretty quiet here. I am off to the gym in a few minutes then treating myself to a manicure this afternoon.
Charlotte, oh no.....not snow yet. I hope it is just a dusting. I am glad you called your orthopedic surgeon. I cant do thst here as we have to be referred first.

emoticon Busy is the word for me - not much time for Sparking these days. We've almost finished getting the farm ready for winter - I just need to finish washing the windows on the outside & taking the dozen or so bags of recycling to the depot. Dh put straw bales over the septic systems and around the foundations of both houses yesterday and will finish putting up the snow fencing today. Just in time as a snowstorm is on its way from Saskatchewan. All the machinery is cleaned and stored & even his shop got cleaned out. No wonder he's so hungry at mealtimes!

Shirley - emoticon It's hard when these anniversaries come around, especially when it happened near a holiday. My mom passed away just before Christmas 10 years ago & it took me quite awhile to feel like celebrating anything. It helps to remember the good times.
What a nice treat your dh has planned for Thanksgiving - he's definitely a keeper!

I finally called my ortho surgeon - will see him in January to discuss my deteriorating left hip. I wish he could do a lower back replacement too. emoticon

Hello out there! Where's everyone at? I'm sorry y'all I feel like I'm a lousy team leader.

I hope everyone is okay and just very busy.

Donna, how are you and your husband doing?

This Sat. marks the one year anniversary of my dad dying. Been struggling with emotions the last few weeks. The year sure went fast. I miss him terribly. I'm babysitting this weekend so hopefully she'll keep my mind off things. I'm hoping after this weekend that I'll start to feel better. I'm so grateful my dh has decided to whisk me away on Thanksgiving Day to a Bed and Breakfast for a few days. I have something to look forward to. I can't remember the last time we just went away alone without going to visit his kids.

I've heard we have 160 RSVPs for this retirement party, but I'm not sure. We have nearly raised enough money to pay for the caterer, and a sweet principal is donating the money we need for the bus to get the kids over here. That's a relief. I'm not sure what else we need money for, I think everything else is pretty well covered. I'm making a scrapbook. I stayed home last Friday and worked on it all day. I hate to say it but it took me 8 hours just to do one page, but it looks great. The rest of the book will be pretty easy I hope anyway.

Summer is back, it was 70 degrees this morning at 7:00!! Bad thunderstorms, possible tornadoes today. Next week it looks like we will be having winter weather. Yep pretty typical here, summer to winter, we did have a very brief fall. It's no wonder everyone is sick here.

Guess I need to get back to work!

Charlotte you are one busy person! Wow! 300 people. It's probably a good thing you're selling tickets in advance this time.
We need to look to see how many people that cafeteria we're having the party in holds. I don't know if us people in this Dept. are included in the count of RSVPs or not. That's 12 extra people if not.
Yesterday at 3:45 just 15 mins. before I was supposed to be walking out the door the boss calls me in the office and wants to discuss the agenda for that day. What time should we eat? I wanted to say what difference does it really make? Just pick a slot and lets be done. One of the coordinator's was in there and I could tell she was tired of discussing it. At 4:15 I told them I was going home. LOL!

Donna I hope your appt. went well with your dh at the clinic.

Another dull, grey morning but can't let it get me down. emoticon emoticon
Finished practicing my music for choir tonight, breakfast dishes done, now sparking. Next on the list is changing the cat's litter box emoticon emoticon Better get that done while I'm still in a good mood lol.

Our church's annual Breakfast with Santa is fast approaching - Nov. 24 is not that far away. Last year we served over 300 folks, 100 more that the venue's official capacity. What a time that was! This year we're selling 200 tickets in advance and that will be it. Won't make as much $$ but at least won't be breaking any insurance and fire regulations. I'm doing the publicity (almost done) and helping organize the Christmas Treats bake sale. Always seem to get the food-related jobs! The past 2 weeks have been a struggle eating-wise, so that's not helpful. Oh well! emoticon

Good Morning everyone!

My aches and pains have actually been better since the temps have dropped some, but it's in the 60s and 70s still so it's not close to those bone chilling cold temps which are the 30s to me. LOL! I've been down in the south for 40 years now and I'm very spoiled. emoticon

The retirement party is Nov. 29th, her last day is the 30th so I'll probably be throwing last minute retirement pictures in her scrapbook on the 30th before she leaves. It's going to be a whirlwind. Sure come crash the party, what's a few more people!?
So far about 150 people have RSVPd, but we're all thinking it's going to be more. We have a school culinary class catering it, they fix the food, set it up, serve it and clean up. It's expensive but so worth it. I don't think any of us are going to eat until the very end, we're scared we're going to run out of food, but we can always binge on cake. We are getting a professional cake and then one of the librarians makes the most delicious pound cakes so she's going to make strawberry and kiwi, the colors of the party are pink and green. We also have found a quartet from one of the other schools who are willing to come and play for free.
It's going to be a big bash, she kept saying she wanted simple, this sounds elaborate to me!

Glad your knee is a little Donna, take it easy. Hope you can postpone surgery for a bit longer.

Charlotte, Wish I had been there for your Monster Mash in the coffeehouse, sounds like it was a good time. LOL!

Need to get back to work I guess. Hope everyone has a good day!

Good morning everyone. Sure looking like November outside - and a good thing too as it starts on Thursday. All the trees are bare and the yard is brown - at this point I almost welcome snow just to pretty things up a bit. My arthritis is not liking the dampness - back is very stiff & sore this morning so taking awhile to get going. don't ya just love this aging business! emoticon
I think we all need a party emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Can we crash the retirement "do" on Dec. 1, Shirley? emoticon I hope the powers that be & the guest of honour appreciate all the work involved.
Donna - glad the knee is feeling better. I guess you'll be getting a replacement eventually. Always good to have something to look forward to emoticon
emoticon My Pops choir sang the Monster Mash and Love Potion # 9 at a Hallowe'en coffeehouse on Sat...in costume of course! Lots of fun to see what people came up with. I added cat ears, a tail and black gloves to my choir black pants and shirt - good choice as my companion in the alto section dressed as a witch. The singing suffered a bit as we were goofing around a lot but the audience loved it - and that's the main thing.
Well, the pain killers have kicked in so I better get busy. Mother Hubbard's cupboard is empty again - grocery shopping definitely on the to do list today.

Sandra, where did you go to in Colorado? I'm from Colorado Springs. Most of my family still lives there. I love going home but unfortunately I don't get there as often as I want to. Two hours is quite a drive. I'm glad your'e having such nice weather. We are too down here in the south. Except the temp goes up and down like a roller coaster ride. Supposed to be 77 on Wed.

Glad your knee is doing okay Donna, hopefully you can see improvement everyday.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who doesn't like going to the ortho.

Need to get back to work. I'm so far behind, this retirement party planning is taking up a lot of time. I'll be so glad to see Dec.1st come and have all of this behind us.

It's never fun to have to go to the ortho. The doctor who did my first knee replacement left and they bring in doctors from around the country who we don't know so after my first knee became very unstable, I went to a highly renowned ortho clinic in Colorado. It's a 2 hr drive but so worth it to have a great surgeon. Now I'm having problems with my hand so I'll be going out of town for that too although I found one closer to home.
It's close to 70 degrees here and will be through the weekend, I'm loving it. It will probably be the last warm weekend till spring so I plan to get outside.

Charlotte, I use to complain about all the work I had in my yard in the fall but it is nothing compared to the work on a farm. It sounds like you are making good headway on getting it done before snowfall. Hopefully that is at least a month away.
Its raining here now but it is still warm. No complaints.....
The knee feels pretty good but we will see.....

Good morning all! No pretty sunrise this morning - hidden behind the clouds I guess. At least the temp is still fairly mild and no snow in the forecast so am counting my blessings. Finally got the flower bed cleaned up and the grass mowed around the house. My back isn't protesting too much so may get the garage cleaned out today. Dh has finished his fall fieldwork and is cleaning equipment and putting up snow fence this morning. It's almost a relief when the snow does come as we relax a bit.
Donna - hope the cortisone shot works.
Shirley - it sure is easy to procrastinate when dealing with doctors. I've been meaning to call my ortho for awhile now re: my ailing left hip joint. Just gotta do it!

Hi Sandra,
Welcome back! We're still here, not quite as active as we were in the past. I love this team, they held me together when I had my last knee replacement. It's probably been 10 years since I had it done, he warned me I would have to have it replaced. It doesn't hurt (well sometimes it does) but if I have to stand on it for awhile it starts to swell. I haven't been in to see the ortho in a couple of years, I know he's going to be upset, I guess I just need to get in there sometime soon and see what he says. I'm really hoping it lasts another 5 or 6 years until I have retired. Trying to come back to work just a few weeks later proved to be hard. I've had both knee replaced.

Donna, hope that shot helps out and you start to find some relief. Maybe taking a few days off from working out will help. Did they give you a brace to wear?

I need to get back to work. Happy Friday everyone!

emoticon It's wonderful what can be done to revive our aging joints. The process can be stressful, but the results are worth it for the most part. I've had one hip joint replaced so far and am "looking forward" to getting the other done in a few years. Not nearly as complicated a procedure as knees by all accounts. emoticon

Hi all! Haven't been on for a long while, since I had my first knee replacement 4 years ago. Had my second knee replaced this last March and the first one revised in July. Hoping that is the last of the knee surgeries! They tell me I have 1-3 years till I need my hip replaced. It just doesn't end.
I really appreciated all the help I got from this team and know you are helping many people who are going through what we all did. So glad you're still here!

Donna - glad to hear you got a last gasp of summer out there. Now maybe you won't miss that California sunshine too much. emoticon You and hubby will be making the most of being at home and getting yourselves healthier.
I keep talking about garden cleanup but have yet to do any, thanks to cranky back and left hip joint. The deer have been "helping" by nibbling on the asparagus ferns and eating up the crab apples around the trees. We did get tree trunk guards on our good trees to keep them away from those.
We've had to buy new tires for the car - I'm giving dh the front tires and he's giving me the back ones as an early Christmas present.
Shirley - sounds like the retirement bash to coming together.

Hi all, things are going well here and we are loving our nice warm weather. Its doming to an end though but sure cant complain. It is almost the end of October. Usually I am packing up getting us ready to head south but not this year. For the first time in 14 years we are staying home. I have had several friends invite me to come down for as long as I like but I wont be going anywhere until I feel comfortable leaving hubby.
I am taking him to the orthopedic doctor today and I am having a shot in my knee this afternoon. Hopefully that will improve it.

Hey everyone! Too quiet on here, checking up on all of you. Hope you are all well and just very busy.

It's a bit chilly here in the 40s in the mornings and then it's warming up into the 70s during the day but by Thursday it's going to drop from the 70s down to a high of 57, Friday the high is going to be 51 degrees. Big difference. Brrrr!!!!

We had a nice weekend in Tennessee, the birthday party for our grandson was cute. The food was delicious, our son-in-law is from another country and he made dishes from his home. YUM! We had a good time. It's so nice to be accepted into the family, my dh's ex was there and we had a nice conversation, just the two of us. It was good to get away even though it was just for 24 hours. The long ride home was bad, we saw 5 accidents and a truck on fire. It took forever to do that 4 hour drive.

Work is busy, I'm steadily working away at getting things ready for the scrapbook I'm making for my coworker who is retiring. Thankfully we are having it catered and we got all of that squared away and transportation for the kids doing it is all set. Things are coming together nicely. I have to find time to start on this scrapbook though. It'll get done somehow.

Have a great day everyone!

Beautiful sunny warm day here in Manitoba... if my aching joints allow, I'm finishing the garden/yard cleanup today. It's worldwide alumni day for my former university - I'm going to a dinner this evening for the Winnipeg/MB graduates - not sure how many will turn up but I'll likely be the oldest one there. emoticon

Yes Donna you're right the saga continues. We did have a productive meeting yesterday, long but productive, we have a high school culinary class that is going to make the food, set it up, serve it and clean up. YAY! We have transportation all set up for the kids too, they have to come on a bus, thankfully the school isn't too far away.
I was tasked with what I thought was three things but now it's just down to 2. One I have finished, just need to wrap it. I have to do the scrapbook, that's going to take some time but I'm sure not stressing about it (yet anyways) I thought I was going to be doing all of the centerpieces but after talking about how much it was going to entail they decided we would all work on it together. Thank goodness. We have over 100 people that have RSVP, I'm sure that number will be going up. I'm going to do everything that requires a computer at work and just put the scrapbook together at home.
I'll survive!

@SHIRLA7 - wow- out of control, indeed. You are just going to have to say, “No, enough.” Or delegate to others. You have your health to consider, and it sounds as if undue demands are being placed on you. You want this to be a happy time for the person retiring, but even she would not be so demanding if she realized the stress that was resulting. I hope.

I agree this has gotten out of control. The funny thing is this person who is retiring is very quiet and doesn't like fuss. After the big over the top one we had for our two secretaries a few years ago she kept saying she wanted something simple and quiet. Then she got involved and she has gone crazy. She wants certain colors and clear plastic ware and cups, etc. She keeps adding people to the guest list. She used to work in a couple of public libraries as branch managers, then she was a librarian in a school and then a coordinator here in our office for many years, we have over 120 schools so each one has a librarian and most of them have a clerk to help out, then there's the people she has worked with up here, people she used to work with, it just keeps getting bigger and bigger. When they said they were looking for a small jazz band from one of the schools to come play I thought that was pretty much over the top. We have a very small budget so I have no clue where the money is going to come from. We are all pitching in some money. A few of the high schools have a cooking class where the kids are taught about cooking, doing catering etc. so we are hiring one of those schools. They set up everything, serve (in white jackets, etc.) and take down. I'm so glad we are doing it this way but it's really expensive. Now my boss has asked me to do a scrapbook. The one I bought has 10 pages = 20 total. When they called me in the office yesterday and started telling me what they wanted me to include in it I had to keep telling them to think smaller, I don't want to have to go add pages. At first my boss said it was going to be just a few pages and now it's getting out of hand. I'll be glad when I get that finished. I still have to do up centerpieces too. It's crazy. We have another retirement meeting this morning, kind of dreading it because the director keeps emailing us things that we need to do. Thing is we don't understand what her vision is.
When I retire I don't want all of this over the top stuff. A nice lunch out with everyone in the office is all I want.

Shirley - a rule of thumb I used for invitation lists back in the day is that at least ten percent of the invitees won't show up. Even so, I agree with Donna..it does seem a tad excessive, not to mention a lot of work. Good luck!

Donna - great that you're enjoying some lovely BC weather after suffering through our premature winter here in MB. Still cold and dull here and snowing a bit, but at least it melts on contact. I'm hoping for a warmer day this week to finish cleaning up the flowerbed and prune some trees.

Shirley I cant even imagine why so many people are invited to this party. Does she person really need this many people? Seems a little over the top.....and expensive.

I'm so glad you made it home safe and sound Donna. I know you were happy!

CJ, my new grandson is about 5 weeks old now. A new baby is so much fun. Enjoy every precious minute because in a blink of an eye they're all grown up. Today is his big brother's 2nd birthday so we are headed up to Tennessee this weekend for the party and to hold that precious baby. I wish we lived closer to them, I wished I lived closer to my all of my family, they are all out west and I live in the southeast. My niece is getting married in 4 weeks and my sister and I talked for 2 hours last night, I had her fill me in on every detail. No. 1, I only have sons and their wives didn't ask me to go shopping with them so I feel like I missed out on all of that fun wedding stuff. No. 2, there is just no way I can fly out there right now. I hate missing big family events. Oh well. It is what it is I guess. I'm so homesick right now.

Today is Boss's Day so we are having a pizza lunch with these cute little bundt cakes for all of them. OMG! They are the best cakes. I can't believe I walked in there the other day and got 3 for the bosses and none for me. LOL! Flowers and cards too. They'll appreciate it.

The guest list for the retirement party is up to 350 people now!!!!! I can't believe it, everyday I walk in and it's gone up even more. I have no idea how we are even going to afford to feed this many people. The school cafeteria that we are having this in doesn't hold that many people along with a table for drinks, cake and a couple for food, oh and one for cards and gifts. I hate to think what this will be like by the time the party is, it isn't until the very end of November so we still have time for the list to grow. We know not everyone will show up of course but it's daunting to think that even 200 will show up which is closer to what I expect. Our budget is very tight. We have a meeting tomorrow so we'll see how things stand. I have finished one of the things I was assigned to do. WooHOO! I guess I need to start working on centerpieces now but I'm waiting for directions on that. Oh and I have to make up for a few pages for a scrapbook but I'm waiting for pictures and such to put in it.

Guess I need to get off here and get some work done.

The weather is all over the map here too - hard to know what season we're in. At least conditions have dried up enough for the farmers to finish their corn and soybean harvesting, so not as much frowning and complaining down at the coffeeshop lately! Still too damp for my aching joints though,,takes awhile to get going in the morinings. I keep putting off calling my orthopedic surgeon but I guess the sooner I get on that "new hip list" the better.

CJSTANLEY - what a joy to see all the changes in your little grandson..one month old already..wow! emoticon He'll be scooting about in no time!
Donna - good to hear everything worked out after your dh's ER visit. Hope he's feeling better and you're both settled in at home. Are you spending any time down south this year?
Shirley - did you survive the big par-tay? emoticon

Time to start my kitchen chores. Am heading into the city this afternoon, so have to make sure Mother Hubbard's cupboard is full.

Hi, everyone. Oh, my - from temps in the 90’s to snow. It finally got seasonal here in CT. It’s dropped to about 42 degrees. I sent hubby downstairs to bring up the heavier comforter for the bed. I even resorted to putting the thermostat from cool to heat and set it at 66. Anything colder is too tough on our “old” bones.
Hope everyone is doing ok.
Our grandson is nearly one month old and he’s growing like a weed.

Shirley, thst sounds like an over the top party to me too. I think going out is a good idea too.
Chsrlotte, we are still here in Winnipeg and it is chilly for sure. It tried to snow last night but there is a only a little on the ground. We are leaving Winnipeg tomorrow so we will be
back to the rain and not snow. We were suppose to leave on Tuesday viput Dh ended up in the ER again. I thought he was having a stroke. They kept him overnight so we had to delay our departure to make sure he was ok to fly. I will be so glad to get him home.

Gosh, Shirley - your workplace sure goes all out for retirement parties. I hope the guest of honour appreciates all the effort. Glad to hear you had no ill effects from the hurricane - the folks in Florida are not so lucky. The pictures on the news are devastating. We've got winter already - cold and light snowfalls, and most of the leaves are still on the trees. Harvesting conditions are really poor, and many farmers still have fields of corn, sunflowers and soybeans standing. Conditions are too wet for the heavy machinery. Very stressful for everyone. I'm thankful that dh has retired from all that.
Hard to believe there's only 11 weeks and a bit left in 2018. emoticon I'm busy already with Christmas concert rehearsals and planning family get-togethers. Last weekend was Canadian Thanksgiving - pretty quiet for us, no special dinners or guests. I got my fill of turkey, turnip and pumpkin at a community supper on Monday.
Have a good weekend.

No one has been on here all week! I hope everyone is doing okay.

I'm hanging in there. Too much going on at work, Bosses Day next week and a BIG retirement party at the end of November for one of our coordinators. It's funny because we had a huge affair for the two secretaries two years ago, it was a lot of work, took months to plan and we were all exhausted by the time it was over. Ever since then this lady who is retiring has been saying she didn't want anything like that party, just keep it simple. Well now every time we meet the guest list gets bigger, it's up to 300 people right now! Of course not all of them will come but still. She is being so explicit with the details. It's just too much, yesterday the boss said they are looking for some small Jazz Band if possible from a high school. It's being catered too which I'm thankful for. It's pretty much going to be over the top! I keep saying when I retire we're going out to eat and that's it. I don't want all of this fuss and bother and the expense!

The hurricane went through, came up through Georgia where we live, all we got thankfully was some rain and that's about it. Thank goodness! By this afternoon the sun is supposed to out and temps are finally going to start falling. The highs in the 70s, that sounds pretty good right now. Summer has gone on long enough. We've had seven months of summer now. I do miss getting the 4 seasons. The leaves don't really change anymore either.

I guess I better get busy. I have plenty to do!
Hope everyone has a good day.

It didnt snow yesterday thank goodness and it was a bright sunny day. The funeral went well but it was an extremely sad day.
We will be here a few more days and will be having thanksgiving with our eldest son.

And down in the south of the good ol USA it's still 90 degrees outside! We usually have cooler temps by now, this is crazy. Another week of this I think and then I think we'll get a break. Sick of the heat and humidity. It just zaps my energy!

Snow! I just can't even imagine that!

Enjoy your family Donna.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Donna - how did you like the winter welcome to Winnipeg? emoticon The sun is sparkling on the snow and melting it quickly, I hope. It seems strange to see the autumn colours with a white frosting. Enjoy your time with family, emoticon

Whew I'm glad your luggage showed up Donna. It has never happened to me thank goodness but I can imagine what an inconvenience that would be.
I hope the funeral goes well.
