Shirley - I agree with Donna about hiring some help for the retirement party jobs. Maybe some students?? I'd be looking for ways to simplify.

My first post op check up went really well. Everything is healed and settling nicely into place. I'm cleared to drive emoticon and don't have to keep on with blood thinner meds. Got a pep talk on the importance of exercises & keeping active in general plus a perscription for physio as these services are no longer offered at the hospital. So important to emoticon

Hot & windy 30 degrees Celcius day in store. I'm going to try a solo trip to the grocery store later this afternoon. Cooking and tidy up is on the morning's agenda.

Shirley, could you not hire some people to help with setup, serving and cleaning. I canít even imagine having to do this along with my job. Not many places do these big retirement parties any longer. I really do feel for you.

Charlotte, wow! Good for you for making it through the store. That's awesome. Keep plugging away at those exercises. My mom had to have both knees replaced before me and she gave me lots of helpful tips but the best one was to push myself. If I was supposed to do 10 reps, then try to do 12 reps. It really helped. Plus I got brownie points in group PT in the hospital for doing more then they wanted me to do. Keep up the good work!

This morning when I left for work at 6 am it was 79 degrees outside! That's awful, it's supposed to rain for the next several days off and on but no one seems to be minding it, we haven't had any rain for awhile now. Hopefully it will remember to quit raining and not end up where we were earlier with nonstop rain for several days.

Oh if only you all could be a fly on the wall during the retirement party planning times. This party is 3 weeks away and as of Monday we were back to square one!!!! We had no caterer, no party decorations, nothing at all! Everyone we had lined up couldn't do it or wanted way more money then we have. So now the coordinator who is in charge of this has decided her and another person are going to provide the food for 200 people or more. One of her cousins has the tablecloths, centerpieces etc that we can use in the colors we were looking for. But now we will have to do everything ourselves, set up food, mind the tables, clean up afterwards and decorate all the tables and clean all that up. It's going to take us forever to clean up. All I have to say is thank goodness the next day we have off. I will be so glad to see June 28th get here! The scrapbook is coming along. I still have about 10 - 12 pages to do and then there's other stuff we're adding to the back but that will be easy I hope anyway!

We have another Professional Development we are putting on this morning so I need to run and get ready for that. So glad I'm off tomorrow, these 10 hour days are exhausting!

I need to get up, brush myself off and keep doing it until I learn to do it right!

Ah, Manitoba rhubarb. My MIL had the best. She called it strawberry rhubarb and it was sweet.
Charlotte, your trip yesterday sounds like you are doing so well. Keep up those exercises. You know it will happen. I do hope you get the clearance to drive.

Shirley, your weekend sounds perfect. We all need to do that more often. You should be able to do that at home but life just gets linnthe way doesnít it?

Shirley - Your anniversary weekend sounds divine! Leaving the real world behind and taking time to be together is really important. Getting back to those ten hour days would be even more of a challenge.

The grocery shopping excursion yesterday went really well. I managed with just my cane and the shopping cart & even had enough energy to stop for coffee. Needed a little rest before putting stuff away, but on the whole felt pretty good. Thursday is the first post op check with the surgeon & I'm hoping to be cleared to drive. Most of the exercises are getting less painful thank goodness but I'm nowhere near the recommended 10 reps twice a day . In three months, the physiotherapist at the hospital told me I should be doing 30 reps twice a day for each exercise emoticon Seems a tad ambitious to me, but will keep plugging away.

Finally a decent amount of rain fell last night and this morning. Sun is out now, still cool and the air smells so fresh. My two badly overgrown ornamental crabapple trees are in full bloom & the rhubarb is ready for dh to pick. I hope he remembers emoticon

Karen I'm so sorry to hear the news of your surgery being cancelled. Insurance companies are so fickle I have found out. I badly need surgery on a hammertoe because it hurts a lot and is very uncomfortable some days, but insurance denied my claim stating that I didn't need it done because it would be cosmetic. I wanted to send them a nasty letter and tell them to come switch feet for me for a few weeks. LOL! My Dr. told me these people who make these decisions half the time don't know what they are approving or not because they don't have any experience.
Keeping you in my prayers. Praying that your Dr. can get it appealed. But in the meantime how disappointing, I know you are wanting to get this done and the sooner the better.

This weekend was our anniversary, it was wonderful, the weather was awesome, a lot cooler than Atlanta, the whole staff were super nice, we had a huge room, the bottle of champagne I ordered had a label on it saying Happy Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. with our last name. I wasn't expecting that, we got to keep the champagne glasses and the bottle of course. We went over to a nearby waterfall and took a walk. It was so relaxing and stress free. We didn't talk about family issues or kids and stayed away from talking about work. They made us a really nice picnic lunch and we had a very romantic dinner for two. It was hard to leave and come back to reality.

Charlotte hope your trip to the grocery store went well and you weren't hurting too much.

Donna, I hope your appt. isn't cancelled, I know you're happy to be able to still do water aerobics.

Started 10 hour days yesterday, I forgot how exhausting these long days are. Then I went home and spent 2 hours cooking, making up salads for the week, cleaning up and fixing breakfast and packing my lunch. I'll survive. This is my 7th year of doing this. UGH! My dh is being a huge help though especially doing laundry and making sure I've got all of my stuff packed up in the mornings.

We have a Professional Development class this morning, the first of 9 for just the month of June. Today we're expecting 100 teachers and librarians to show up so it's all hands on deck in my office. Getting kind of concerned about the bosses party at the end of the month. The person is in our office organizing this is just driving us crazy, we never have meetings, we don't know if she ever heard back from the caterer or the party planner or what. She just says it'll all come together and she's not stressing about it. Which means the week before the party we'll all be running around here with our heads cut off. This is just the way she is. I'm still not done with the book. I need to stay home a day or two and just get it finished. I don't even know if they have sent out invitations yet. I just want this month to be over with.

Need to run and see what needs to be done.

Karen, I canít even imagine how disappointed you are with this news. You would think they would have let you know this sooner. Insurance companies are not easy to deal with. Letís hope your doctor can sort this out for you.

Good luck shopping today Charlotte. I hope you can get the ok to drive soon. It sure changes our independence when we have to get someone else to take us everywhere we need to go.

Off to the pool in a few minutes. Thank goodness I can still do that.....

Donna - fingers crossed that your second opinion consultation happens on schedule!

Karen - dealing with insurance is not for the faint of heart. I sure don't understand their reasoning either. Good thing your doctor is going to bat for you. emoticon

Shirley - was your "romantic getaway" this past weekend? emoticon

The cat and I are holding down the fort as dh is away all day helping a neighbour move cattle to summer pasture. Thursday is my first post-op checkup with the surgeon. I haven't taken any strong pain medication for almost two weeks now, so am hoping he will clear me to drive.
Doing some of the exercises is still painful, but no pain, no gain! A friend is picking me up after lunch to go grocery shopping - my big treat for the day emoticon

Donna, I hope the second opinion gives you the answers you're looking for.

Well today was supposed to be my surgery date, but my insurance won't approve it. They say I don't meet the criteria for cryoablation. The stupid thing is that only leaves me with the option for regular surgery to have part of my kidney removed, which is much more invasive, longer hospital time, greater chance for complications, longer recovery, and will cost them tons more money. My doctor has appealed and requested a review with another interventional radiologist or urologist with experience in renal cancer. I'm trying not to let it get me down, but it's very disappointing. So my daughter didn't come up, but we did still go to tea on Saturday and had a lovely time.

It was nice not having to get up at 5 this morning, although the dogs decided that 6 was plenty late to sleep in. I'm trying to motivate myself to get dressed and go walking. Happy Monday!

Hey everyone,

Karen, so sorry to hear about your upcoming surgery, keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Is is outpatient? How long is recovery going to take? I hope you'll be up and doing well shortly afterwards, it would be a pity spending the entire summer laid up. That's good that your daughter is driving up and taking you. Enjoy your tea.
The last day of school here was last Thursday, the teachers last day was Friday. Needless to say I enjoyed my ride into work this morning, it just amazes me when school is out how much lighter traffic is. I also had my pick of parking spaces this morning. I hope all goes well for you this last week. Somehow I'm sure you will manage to get your room ready for the move.

Over spring break I cleaned off two bookshelves and purged a lot of books. Since I have a Kindle now I would rather just read on it then have a physical book. I dread moving.

My ds surprised me yesterday, he was on his way home from moving his wife up to North Carolina, she starts her new job today. He's going back home to Florida to try and get the house on the market and hopefully he will be able to find a new job soon so they can be together. Anyway since I've never bought a house before I was able to ask him a lot of questions, made me feel better about buying a house. It was great seeing him. I got my hug and was able to catch up with each other.

I kept Destiny this weekend, we had a good time. She was super good and wanted to snuggle a lot, which was fine with me. She's just too funny. And has become Ms. Independent. I gave her an ice cream sandwich and she was struggling peeing the paper off. My dh asked her if she needed help and she said "No, I've got this Grampy"! We both had to laugh.

Glad to hear your recovering Charlotte, yeah after having knee surgeries I would push myself and pay the price. It's good that you rested after that.

Donna, that's too bad that you had to give up your stability ball class. I hope the water aerobics will continue to go okay. Hopefully you will be able to get into the doctor soon for a 2nd opinion.

It's so hot here and miserable, mid to upper 90s. We didn't venture out a lot this weekend. I hope this weekend the temps will be cooler up in the mountains. When we went on our honeymoon up there it was really hot, everyone in town was talking about it. I ordered a picnic lunch on Sat. but we may end up eating it in our room if it's too hot.

I guess I better get some work done. Talk to you all later!

"This too shall pass"

I need to get up, brush myself off and keep doing it until I learn to do it right!

Karen, I can relate to book hoarding emoticon . I downsized as much as I could when we moved from Texas four years ago. But I still had many, many boxes of books to pack! Give thing we had movers.

Charlotte, we are moving in to an over-55 apartment building. It's kind of pricey, but very nice. Mom and I already have appointments at the hair salon the week after we move in. My hair will need a cut desperately by then. But at least I don't have to hunt for a decent hairdresser. Hope she's good enough for my fussy mom--she's very particular about her hair!

We had nice weather Saturday and Sunday but today is cold and rainy. We spent the weekend up north at my brother's place and the mosquitoes hatched in the nice weather. My legs look like I have measles!

Charlotte, glad to hear you are on the mend. Just be sure not to overdo it.

Laurie, ugh, moving! I have to change classrooms this year, after being in the same room for 10 years. I'm never going to get it packed up. I've been going through and tossing, but I'm a teacher hoarder lol. Most of it is books. It's extra bad because I won't be able to lift anything this summer, so someone is going to have to move and unpack my classroom.

Nice weekend here. I went to Holiday World with my son's family. I took my granddaughter on the kiddie rides while the big people went on the roller coasters. Lots of walking, and it seemed like it was all uphill! Then it started storming, so we got rain tickets to come on another day this summer. We all got soaked, but it was fun.

This is the last day of school for me. K graduation tomorrow, a visit from the science center Wed. and field day on Thursday. I'm supposed to magically have my room packed up Friday. Next Monday is my cryoablation to remove the tumor from my kidney. My daughter is coming up from Atlanta to drive me to the hospital in Indianapolis and we are all going to tea on Saturday. I need to find time to get my house clean and set for post surgery. Busy, busy, busy.

Charlotte, yes we have to listen to our bodies and while we are healing we always will push ourselves too far some days. How else are we going to get better. Glad you are resting today. Wise girl.
On the other hand I have decided thst I have to give up my stability ball class as it is just too hard on my knee. I suffer too many days after. I am feeling sorry for myself but I know I have to do this. So, I will just be content with doing the water aerobics for now.

Itís lovely here too so I will enjoy the sunshine...

Good Sunday morning everyone. I'd hoped to be at church now, but yesterday's grocery shopping excursion did me in more than I thought. Dh was chauffeur & "assistant", the grocery cart worked well as a walker, still was on my feet much longer than usual, All exercise though which is good in the long run, but my aching incision is telling me I still need to pace myself.
It was good to get out. Yesterday was gorgeous, sunny & warm and I so enjoyed the drive to town past all the newly seeded fields, some of which are already green. And we stopped for ice cream on the way home emoticon emoticon

Laurie, I know you're relieved to be moved. I hate moving! I'm glad closing went smoothly. Hopefully it won't be too long until you are moved into your new home!

Not having a kneecap doesn't sound good. Thanks for letting us know about your experience Laurie, it's always nice to hear from someone who has experienced it.

Charlotte, I sure can relate to that first shower after surgery. It sure feels good. I know I didn't want to get out. My dh thought I was nuts but as soon as I got home from the hospital the first thing I did was wash my hair in the kitchen sink. I had been in the hospital for 4 days and couldn't stand my dirty hair another minute.

The weather here is awful! Expected temps through next week is mid to high 90s! Too hot for me.

Charlotte, I remember that first shower--felt so good.

I've been without a kneecap for more than 35 years. It sure made my knee pain better after it was out. When I started having a problem with the other kneecap, I had a patello-femoral replacement and that was a better option, but it wasn't available in the 80's.

Finally have everything in storage and am recovering from an exhausting move. We closed today, so I guess I'm homeless for a few weeks emoticon Things should settle down now for a while.

Donna - No kneecap sounds serious,.Would you have to wear a brace of some sort then? I don't blame you for wanting a second opinion. Hope there's a better alternative.

Shirley - You should be charging a fee for doing these retirement scrapbooks. I hope the cost of the materials are covered at least. What a lovely anniversary surprise for your dh! Hope the weather cooperates and you have a wonderful time.

Just a short hello - as this computer chair is getting very uncomfy, even with a cushion. Time to move around a litte. Recovery going well - every day is another milestone. Had my first shower since the surgery - what a luxury after three weeks of sponge baths and washing my hair under the kitchen tap!

Donna, I'm sorry to hear about your knee. It seems lately that one of my knees is always hurting, thankfully it's not both at once. Not sure what that is, it comes and then it goes. It's been 10 years since I had the first one done and he told me I would be lucky to get 10 years before I would have to get another one done because of my weight. If I have to have it replaced I'd rather do it after I retire in a few years so I don't have to use all of my vacation and take sick leave too. I have always had surgery and have taken about 2 to 3 weeks off and then come back to work being miserable and in pain but I just can't afford to be out longer then that.

When is your appt. with the new Doctor? Why are you changing Drs.?

Need to get back to work, having a quiche cook off today, same recipe with 3 variations. Always fun times in our office. Also, the bosses birthday is Friday so we have decided to surprise her with a party.

We have a holiday this coming Monday, Memorial Day, so I'll get a 3 day weekend, I'm back at work for 3 days and then I'm off for 3 days because it's our wedding anniversary on June 1st. I'm kidnapping my dh and we are going back to where we spent our honeymoon. He knows we are going somewhere and it's in the mountains but that's all he knows. I'm excited. We both need a break badly!

I came in this morning and my boss had left a bunch of pictures on my desk that I might want to use in the scrapbook then I open my email and she's sent me a whole bunch more pictures. I have too many pictures but there's definitely some good ones that I'll include. Thankfully the pictures she gave me are for pages I haven't done yet.

My family that lives in Colorado were texting each other after I went to bed and I woke up to 30 texts. They were talking about all the snow they got yesterday. Snow! in May! Just sounds crazy to me since we're having 90 degree temps already.

Guess I better go. I'm leaving early today and I have a lot I need to get done before I go.
Have a good day everyone!

Shirley, what would they do without you doing all this work for the retirements. Amazing for sure.

Itís a holiday here in Canada today.....Queen Victoriaís Birthday. Itís a pretty gloomy day but it doesnít matter as itís still nice for the people working to have a long weekend.

Hey everyone!

Donna, 10 hour days start on June 3rd. I like having Fridays off but I'd still rather work an 8 hour day. My Fridays off are filling up really fast!

There's so much to do before we leave on our vacation in July. I'm getting there on the scrapbook, I think I've counted 16 pages done, unfortunately I still have a lot to do. I'll get there though. Just takes time. I'm working on it every spare minute I have.

My boss told me that we need to have a reception of some kind for someone else that's part of our office but in another building who's retiring the same day she is. I was thinking when are we going to have time to do all this and how are we going to come up with even more money? The girl who is retiring has said repeatedly that she doesn't want anything, but I think my boss is going to veto it.

Anyway it is what it is! I just do what I'm told to do. I'm so glad there's no one else retiring until me in a few years. I sure don't want any of this!

I guess I better get back to work.

Hi all. Just a quick stop by to say hello. School is still going on until the end of June and will start up again after the long weekend in September.
The weather here is definitely nowhere near as hot as you Shirley. We are definitely ok with that. 90ís and humidity doesnít sound appealing...
Shirley, I canít believe how much fuss they make for a retirement in your profession. I think it is wonderful that a persons work is honoured but making the staff do the work seems asking a little too much. I can just imagine how exhausted you would be. When do you begin your 10 hour days?
Karen, sometimes it is hard to understand managements reasoning on some decisions. I certainly hope next year is a good one for you.
You are right. I matter what happens to us there are others much worse. Itís sometimes hard to keep that in perspective.

We are still having lots of medical appointments and have another one today. Itís a seniors social life unfortunately.....

It's good to hear from you Karen! We skipped spring too and went straight into summer as well. Next weeks highs will be in the 90s! UGH! I'm so glad we are going to Colorado 10 days in July, very low humidity there and cooler temps. It's going to feel so good.

I'm so sorry to hear about your fellow co-worker's fire. That's awful. I know what you mean about someone else's problems are bigger then what we're going through. It puts things into perspective.

Too bad your principal won't let you keep some of your kids. That doesn't make sense to me.
When is the last day for school for you? The kids are done here next Thursday, the teachers are done on Friday. I'm just looking forward to a three day weekend.

One retirement party is done, it was yesterday morning, a lot of people came that we weren't expecting and we had barely enough food. By the time I went through the line there was hardly anything left. We should have served because it was mostly men. Oh Well! Just glad that is over with, today is part 2 of his retirement. I'm not sure why but we're going out to lunch today, we usually just have a party and be done. My bosses retirement party is in 6 weeks. I'll be so glad when June 28th gets here and it's all over. I won't even have time to recuperate because we will be leaving 5 days later on vacation.

Need to get some stuff done. Have a great day!

Looks like we're skipping spring and jumping straight into summer by the end of the week. It's supposed to be in the 90s by this weekend. Ugh! Right now the weather is beautiful. The kids are all crazy. It's been a long week and it's only Wednesday lol. I love having the sun out and shining in the evenings. I got a little yard work done after work. I finally got my rhubarb in the ground. I'm really excited- I haven't had rhubarb since I lived in Idaho. I got my butterfly bush cut back and some weeds pulled.I still have more to do, but it's nice to get a little done each day. Then I came in and was asleep in my chair by 8:30 lol.

One of our teachers had a fire on Mother's Day. They weren't home at the time. They had 2 dogs who both died. I feel so bad for them. They will be out of their house for at least 6 months. I always think I have problems, and then they seem so small compared to what others are dealing with.

My principal won't let me loop with my kids. I will definitely get some of them. I wish she'd let me pick some. Not just the high kids, just kids I've developed a good relationship with and would love to have for another year. One plus is I'm filling the recycling tub in my room every day. It feels good to get rid of stuff. I need to do the same thing at home.

It's good to hear from you Karen, I'm sorry to hear your news. I know you're beyond anxious. I hope you can get the surgery scheduled for next week too. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
How do you feel about being moved to 1st grade? Will you end up having the same kids next year? That could be nice since you know them and they know you.

My kids didn't call until late in the afternoon yesterday, I was beginning to think they had forgotten. Typical boys. My dh was so very sweet, he took me out Sat night and after church yesterday and cooked a really nice dinner. I planned a simple meal that he could manage and he did great. My dh doesn't cook and really has no idea what he's doing in the kitchen but everything turned out great! He also brought me flowers.

Donna, sorry those shots didn't work. I hope you can get some relief soon.

First retirement party is this Wed. I'll be glad when it's over. We are going out to eat the next day, not sure why we're doing both. Anyway, I have to finish up what we're giving him as a gift today. It's not much thank goodness. The scrapbook for my boss is coming along, a little slow though, there's only 6 weeks left before her retirement party. I've been working on it every chance I can get and on the weekends. I don't want to but I just want to get it done so it's not hanging over my head. My anxiety level is high enough without that too.

I need to get back to work and get something done. Talk to you all later!

Charlotte, glad you are on the mend.

Happy Mother's Day! Things have been busy around here. I had a lovely day yesterday. I did my annual trip to my favorite nursery in Louisville and loaded up with flowers, then spent the day planting them. Then my daughter in law called and I met her and my granddaughter for pedicures. A really nice day. Then the rain came so everything got watered, and it's a rainy morning here (which is why I wanted to get flowers in yesterday).

School has been busy. Only 11 more school days! My principal is moving me to first grade, after being in kindergarten for 14 years. I also have to move classrooms, so I have tons of stuff to get rid of. I went to Indianapolis last Saturday for another MRI. Yep, still cancerous tumor. I have other cysts on my kidney, but they are simple cysts. My doctor is out of town, but I'm hoping to get my surgery scheduled next week. I just want it over with.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Our weather is beautiful here Shirley and is suppose to stay that way all weekend. It is great doe all the families planning outdoor events for a Motherís Day. We are going to our sons for dinner tomorrow which is just fine with me. He is planning a Greek dinner. Sounds pretty yummy to me.

The knee is definitely not getting better. I went this week and got a handicap tag did my car and a cane. Ugg.... the cane sure makes a difference for me so maybe I can do a little more walking. That would be lovely. My appointment with the new orthopedic surgeon canít come too soon for me.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Charlotte I hope the healing is progressing for you.

Wow! This is a very quiet bunch this week. I think all of your stress and craziness was passed on to me this week. Issues with my ds have me so stressed and work is crazy! I'll get through all this, I'll sure be glad when June 28th gets here and the retirement madness will be done. I'm tired of it all. All I can do is pray. The scrapbook is coming along slowly, very slowly in fact. I keep getting more and more pictures and I've already done the page they need to go on and so I'm redoing pages.

Supposed to be a total rain out this weekend. It started last night, tomorrow is a big festival and Sunday is Mother's Day, it doesn't sound good. Of course on Monday when everyone is at work and school the weather is supposed to be beautiful. I just want to get my grocery shopping done between the raindrops.

I guess I need to go. If I can get the stuff I need to get done this morning maybe I can leave at noon and go home and work on the scrapbook. The next chance I'll have is next Friday.

Have a great weekend! Happy Mother's Day everyone! emoticon

Good to hear from everyone! I'm hoping we will be able to move closer to Destiny next year so I can help out more. It would be great to see her more often then once a month. I know you're enjoying babysitting CStanley. I wouldn't mind doing it a few days a week but not everyday. She will be starting Pre-K this fall. Where does the time go?

Charlotte, so glad to see you back with us. I'm glad your surgery went well and the pain is getting better. I hope I can avoid any major surgeries like knee replacements until I retire in a few years and can properly recuperate.

Laurie, I know you will be glad to be retired and especially to be moved. It'll be nice to live closer to family. It is very overwhelming thinking about moving. We are probably going to be moving next year. I've already started purging stuff and am trying to get my dh to go through his dad's things. Everything just sits in a tote in the back of the closet, the only time he ever looks at it is when we move. I offered to go through it with him and he assured me he didn't need my help, probably because he knows I would want to get rid of the majority of it. Why keep it in a box?

Big end of the year meeting this afternoon and the director / my boss will be announcing her upcoming retirement. She's done great things for the school libraries, she's going to be missed by many. I've worked with her the longest of everyone (13 years) so I'm really going to miss her.

Great news, Charlotte. That's the good news about post-surgical pain vs. arthritis pain--it decreases :)

Laurie, great news from you. I know your plan was to move when you retired. I am pleased that it is all working out for you. Retirement is wonderful and I donít know how I had time to work. Downsizing is very difficult and sometimes you just have to close your eyes and let go. Even though we are in a much smaller space I could let go of even more. The jphardest thing foe me is finding s place to,put off season clothes. I know that sounds silly but my Dh and I use to each have an extra closet., It all still somehow works out.

Charlotte we are thinking about you as you move into recovery mode. It is wonderful when the surgery is over. I hope all is going well.

I have been doing major housework today and I am feeling it right now. I should have ice on my knee but I am not getting up for awhile.

Hi, Laurie - congratulations on your upcoming retirement. I retired from teaching coming up on seven years ago. The first two years were rough because is been so consumed by my job. I missed the kids and my fellow teachers. Then it got a lot easier. I really loved being able to sleep in until eight or eight thirty. Now that we are babysitting my grandson 3-4 days a week, my retirement has even more purpose.
As far as getting rid of stuff - we are not moving , but my little 970 square foot ranch house is way too cluttered. I wish you better luck with parting with stuff than I’m having. I have so many dishes- mine, my mom and grandmother’s, mother-in-law’s - I am trying to use them in rotation. They do give me pleasure. Anyway, best wishes.
Charlotte, we haven’t heard from you about your surgery. Praying you are recovering well and will get lots of mobility back.
Shirley, you never cease to amaze me. You work so hard and must be so talented putting together all those scrapbooks.
And to all other participants- happy spring. It’s been really rainy and dismal in CT, but the sun is out, at least briefly, today, and I’m going to go for a walk and enjoy it.

Right now I can't think about much more than the move--details are overwhelming at times. We are moving about an hour further north to the town where my sisters live. We are up here today, signed the lease for the storage unit yesterday and are heading back home this morning. I can't wait until we are all moved in in July. We are getting rid of a bunch of stuff but probably not enough. Our apartment is pretty big, but I'd still rather take this opportunity to get rid of more stuff!

Laurie, I'm so happy for you! I know your'e ready for retirement. Where are you moving to? Closer to family?

Houses are being snatched up. A co-worker put her house up for sale around the 1st of April, she had numerous offers within a week and ended up getting more than she was asking for.
Closing was Tuesday and she had to be out of the house by 3:00 that day! My head was spinning. She's retiring the end of June and moving out of state so she's trying to find a house long distance. In the mean time she had to get an apartment. She had 9 pods full and left a lot of the furniture for the new owner. She lived in a big house and is downsizing to a ranch.

I hope you're doing well Charlotte.
Back to work.

Good morning!

Charlotte, hope all goes well and that you heal quickly.

I've been buried under lately. I put the condo up for sale at the end of March and had an excellent offer five days later. So we've been full-steam-ahead packing, planning and arranging. And working! We close in three weeks and can't get into the new place until the begining of July. So, again, we'll be living in temporary digs while our stuff is in storage. Not as long as last time, though. I've been working from home, and in some respects that has made things marginally easier. I'm cutting my hours when we move...easing into full retirement later this year. Oh my! I'm tired though! I'll be ready for June!

Charlotte, over spring break I went through totes of crafts stuff and my scrapbooking area. There was so much stuff that I knew I didn't like or would never use and so I got rid of a good bit of cross stitching, a whole bag of yarn and some stuff from my scrapbooking area. I'm giving the bag of yarn to my best friend's aunt who makes hats for homeless people. I donated a lot of stuff to Goodwill. A friend of mine wants all of my discarded scrapbooking stuff. It's a good feeling to have all of that stuff gone. The saying that someone's junk is another person's treasures is true! LOL!
It's so nice to be able to go into the office closet and be able to walk in and not worry about what might fall on my head. I really should have taken before and after pictures.

Like Donna said the waiting is the hard part! I know you'll be glad to have this over with. Hope all goes well next week. Let us know how you're doing when you feel up to it.

I know it is hard to get rid of things but sometimes we just have to be honest with ourselves as to if it will ever be used.
Chsrlotte, I know you will be so happy to have this over with. The waiting is not fun.

Thanks for the good wishes, Shirley. I guess I've been pushing myself a little harder than usual trying to get things ready at home. Today is finish up paperwork day. Hard to believe only four days to go. emoticon Last night I cleaned out an old dresser that I want to bring downstairs to put my clothes & supplies in. Dh asked a neighbour to help move it as it's solid wood and very heavy. I should get rid of the stuff that was in it - all vintage linen, fabric, old trims & sewing bits - just keep thinking of all the neat projects I could use them for, but will I? emoticon I know how your dh feels about his clippings, Shirley. The dresser is not going back upstairs though as one of the young cousins is looking for furniture for his first appartment.

Donna, your idea of scanning those clippings is a good idea. I'll have to see what he says. Maybe if he started scanning them then he would decide he really didn't need to keep that many. LOL! He won't look at them again until I make him do it. That box just takes up precious space.

Every time I think about that coordinator telling me to work on that scrapbook on my Fridays off still makes me fume. She told me she misses having her summers off (we work 12 months) because it means less time with her kids, especially her 1 year old. I wonder how long she's going to last. This job isn't for people with little kids at home, especially the coordinator's, they have to go to meetings after work sometimes and the 10 hour days in the summer are really hard. I've been in this office for 12 years now and have seen a lot of people quit who had that job.

I'm really getting concerned about this retirement party, we haven't meant in over 2 weeks, I still don't have the pictures from my boss, we don't have a theme, never truly decided on colors. After lunch yesterday us 4 secretaries were talking about how far behind we are on things, but guess who's in charge of this? Yep the coordinator, she does have a don't care attitude. We're hoping we meet today. The only thing we have done is reserve the room for that date. I just want it to be really nice, she's the best boss I've ever had and she deserves this.

Charlotte, so sorry to hear the pain is back, I guess it's a good reminder of why you're having this done. Try and rest for a few days, I know that's hard when surgery is next week. Hang in there!

Karen and Laurie hope you check in soon, miss you both!

Guess I should go and get something done. I'm so tired today and I keep thinking it's Friday, oh how I wish!

ladies, Shirley good for you for not giving up your day off. Imagine asking you to do that. I have never done scrapbooking I know people who do, and it is a big job. They are going to miss you when you retire.
Have you ever thought of scanning those articles your hubby wants to save. Once on the computer they donít take up any space.

Just back from the pool and now have things to do around the house.

Good morning or is it just morning? I'm paying for all my busy running around during the past few days - bad hip is protesting big time. T3 should kick in soon. The trouble is, once the pain is dulled down, I start over-doing. Hard not to on a farm in the spring.

Shirley & Donna - Thanks for your kind thoughts re: my sil's dh. She will miss him as will we all; he was kind & caring with an impish sense of humour that kept us on our toes.

Happy Secretary's Day Shirley. Up here it's called Administrative Professionals Day - guess the card sellers were trying to broaden the market when they thought of that one. Whenever the name, you are the backbone of any office and definitely deserve the recognition.

Charlotte, I'm so sorry to hear about your sil's dh passing away. It's sad no matter what age but it's good he went peacefully. Will be keeping the family in my prayers in the coming days.

You are just moving along, look at everything you have gotten done in the last few weeks! I'm glad you're not in too much pain. I know that temptation to light a match and just be done with everything. I have felt like just getting a big trash can and just trashing everything and starting over. DH is the worst! He drives me crazy. He sure has a problem of letting go of things. He has all of these newspaper clippings from stories he wrote years and years ago. I was hoping he would toss most of it. He threw out a few things and most of it went right back into the closet where it will sit gathering dust for another 10 years. If I went in there and threw it away I don't think he would ever notice. Don't worry I won't do that but it sure is tempting. LOL!

Yay! The coordinator who is in charge of my bosses retirement has been telling me to work on the scrapbook on my Friday's off in June. I went to her yesterday and asked her again when she wanted me to do this and she said the same thing, I stuck up for myself (patting myself on the back - I hate conflict) and told her I wasn't going to work on it on my days off and again I asked her to let me stay home and work on it there, it'll be so much easier and she reluctantly agreed. WooHoo!! so I'll be working from home one day a week, possibly two and see how much I can get a lot accomplished. There's absolutely nothing going on at work.

I guess I better go and get something accomplished. Today is Secretary's Day so we are getting a catered lunch by the bosses and hopefully we can leave early.

Chsrlotte, my condolences to you and your family. No matter how old it still hurts.

You must be feeling pretty good if you can do all that yard work. I am pretty sure it would be beyond me at this point. I king thst going in for surgery at this time is not so good for a,farmers wife. This is a busy time of year for you usually.

Shirley - great that your kids are moving closer & that all went well with your mom.
Have fun at the gym, Donna.Or as much as your knee allows you to! To keep moving is the main thing though.
Another sunny warm day and a busy one in store with errands, a pedicure and the last choir practice for me anyway, as I'll be missing the year-end concerts. Got all the yard & garage mess cleaned up yesterday afternoon - next is all dead stalks & grass in the asparagus and the rhubarb beds. Very tempted just to drop a lighted match on the whole works, but dh isn't keen.
We received some sad news - my sil's hubby passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon. He was 91 and had been gradually fading over the winter.

Thanks for the well wishes for my mom, she did great! I talked to her soon after she got home and she sounded good. I could hear the relief in her voice. The other one is scheduled for May 13th. I don't think the 2nd one will be as nerve wracking as this one was. I think I was more worried than she was. I was worried about her being alone last night and today and then she reminded me she lives in senior housing and someone is always around and they check on each other, plus my sister will be taking her to the Dr. today to check her eye so I felt better. It's so hard to be so far away. If all goes well mom will only need glasses to see up close. I'm glad because she never adjusted well to glasses, they constantly bother her and causes her to get migraines. I'm kind of envious.

Well I got surprising news last night. My youngest ds's wife graduated from vet school last May and was lucky to be offered a good job. So they sold their house, bought a new one half way between their two jobs and all was well. Then he called me last night and told me she wasn't happy where she was and so she was looking for a new job and got a job offer yesterday and that they will be moving up to Asheville, NC. They went to college in North Carolina and got married up there so that's where their heart is. They also have several close college friends living there so my ds is looking for a job and they will be moving up there soon. I'm just thankful they are staying on the East Coast and now they'll be only 3 hours away from me. LOL! They may be sorry they moved so close. I didn't even get to see their new house.

I also found out that my sister and family are all going to Texas to be see their daughter and the new baby the week we fly into Colorado in July. Oh Well! We'll make the best of it. I will have one on one time with my mom for a few days.

I guess I better get busy!

Hi, Shirley. Your mom is in my prayers. I had both of my eyes done six months apart in my early 60’s. What a miracle. I still wear glasses because I had fixed focus distance lenses put in, but I have 20/20 vision with them off for distance. It’s wonderful to sit in the back yard and look up at the trees and see individual leaves instead of a blur.
Raining here on the East coast - oh, well. It’s April.

Ours was a low key day too. We had leftover ham for dinner after I gave most of it away when the company left on Saturday. They will enjoy having it in their lunch today.

N8 gym today because of Easter Monday. Yes, for many it is a holiday here in Canada.

Chsrlotte, this is the hard part countingmoff the days before your surgery. At this point you just want it over with.

Keeping your Mom in our thoughts Shirley. Itís a pretty quick surgery now thst they use lasers.

Have a good week everyone....

Ours was a fairly low key Easter too - a wonderful church service which included some family members joining the church. We joined all of them at the farm for brunch and a massive egg hunt for kids and adults alike. Dh hid his loot as soon as we got home, lest I yield to temptation.

Your holiday dinner sounds good, Shirley. I like the no-fuss approach. emoticon Slow cookers are great - I don't use mine nearly enough. Healing vibes going to your mom.

Carolyn - Good to hear your knee joints are performing well. Thanks for your good wishes re; my upcoming surgery. 8 days to go & lots to do beforehand. I started gathering up some supplies & equipment, but haven't got my recovery room (dining room) set up yet.

Today we're having our usual holiday Monday dish - macaroni and cheese with ham cut up in it. I'm making my own version with cauliflower instead of pasta - dh can have all the carbs.
Another beautiful sunny day - high of 17 degrees predicted. I'll be out picking up stuff in the yard this afternoon. Have a great day everyone.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Sunday!

Ours was very low key Just us, so I threw a pork roast, potatoes, carrots and onions in the slow cooker, it was yummy.

After Saturday's cold rainy day, yesterday was the total opposite. A lot of places cancelled their Easter egg hunts on Sat. I felt so bad for the kids. Destiny got to hunt eggs on Sunday at their church, I was happy she got to do that. I'm keeping her next weekend so we will probably do another one.

Got a lot done this weekend, now I need to clean before Destiny comes on Friday.

Good to hear from you CStanley! I'm so glad you had such a great outcome from your knee replacement. It's been 10 years since my first one and it's still doing pretty good. I'm so thankful. The Dr. told me it would last for about 10 years and then I'd have to have another one done. I'm so hoping my knee can wait another 4 years or so until I'm retired. Taking medical leave it such a hassle where I work.

Please keep my mom in your prayers, she's having the first of two cataract surgeries done this afternoon. She's feeling apprehensive. I just wished I was there to help out, thankfully she has my sister.
Have a good one everyone!

I went to the thyroid Dr. and after just two months on meds my levels have dropped to normal. Unfortunately I can't say I've seen much of a difference so they decided to keep me on the low dose for 5 more months when I go back in again. Hopefully it will work and I'll see a difference.

Storming here today. I waited until daylight to come in, everyone in our office has been late. Felt sorry for the kids standing at bus stops this morning. The rain has been coming down hard, lots of lightening, tornado warnings etc. I got pretty wet walking in with an umbrella even. Now a cold front is coming through.

Glad to hear your pre-op went well Charlotte. I know you're busy getting ready for your surgery.

Need to get busy and look productive!
Hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend, enjoy your time with your family Donna. Sounds like it will be fun! emoticon

Charlotte good news with the go ahead for your surgery. You have been through this before so you know what to expect. I understand it is never comforting to be thinking about what is ahead.
You ladies are giving me a nudge to do some decluttering around here. I donít think that ever ends.
Easter dinner with our family will be here on Saturday. I am looking forward to seeing the young people. We need a little shake up around here.

Shirley - Maybe it's just because it's finally spring, but you're not the only one cleaning, sorting, reorganizing and even (gasp!) disposing of stuff. This morning, an old friend sent me three pictures of us he'd found in some old boxes. the photos were taken back in the late 1970's (!) when we worked for the mobile exhibits programme at the National Museums of Canada in Ottawa. We looked sooo young and had lots of hair! Happy memories are a great way to start the day. It reminded me that I have a few old boxes as well, filled with slides (all labelled fortunately) and memorabilia from those days that need attention. This winter's project perhaps.

My pre-op consultations yesterday went well - apparently I'm fit for surgery. The anesthetic doctor wasn't concerned about my cough, which thankfully is nearly gone. I'd hate to have something hanging over my head like you did, Shirley, with your blood count before your knee surgery. Now to digest all the information and instructions from the doc, the occupational therapist, the physiotherapist and the nurse practitioner plus pack my bag and finish getting things ready at home. Less than 2 weeks to go emoticon

No special plans for Easter at our house aside from church service and maybe the odd coloured egg. I do have a card for dh and actually sent out cards to family in Nova Scotia so maybe I'm readier than I thought. Thankfully, the snow is 99% gone, so the Easter bunny can put away his scarf and mitts. emoticon

Happy Easter to all!

You're well ahead of me Donna, I haven't given much thought to Easter. Our church is holding Easter services starting tomorrow evening and then again Sat. and Sunday. I think we will go on Sat. sometime. Easter service on Sundays is always packed. I don't know what we're eating. It'll just be the two of us as usual, I wish I lived closer to my family.
This weekend I have an appt. to get my hair cut and then we need to clean up because Destiny will be coming next weekend. We have empty totes, boxes and stuff for my dh to go through all over the living room and dining room and a big box of stuff to take to Goodwill. It sure looks like we're moving. I will have to say though I had to go get something out of the office closet and it was so nice to be able to get to it without worrying about what was going to fall on my head.

I'm finally finished with all of my scrapbook reorganization and tossing stuff I will never use. Now just to keep it this way. Everything has a place. It's a good feeling. I need to go through some of my pictures at home and see if there's anything I want to put in my bosses scrapbook.
My other project I've been working on is a baby blanket for my niece's baby that is coming in a month. It's nearly finished. Hoping I can get it in the mail next Sat. then I need to start on the bookmark for my boss; whenever anyone in our office retires I cross stitch a bookmark for them. I think this will be the last one. I will be the oldest person in our office and the last of the original 10 that came over from the old office. Time sure has flown by.

How did your appt. go yesterday Charlotte, hope you got a clean bill of health. Did you get over your cold?
The last time I had knee surgery I went in two weeks before to do pre-op and my white blood count was off, they told me if it didn't get back to normal before surgery day they would have to reschedule it. I was thinking no way! Thankfully the final test they did just days before surgery was normal. Talk about stress!

I hope you're doing okay Karen. Almost the end of the school year! This year has flown by.

We are supposed to get rain tomorrow and some heavy storms too, on Sat. the high is supposed to be 55, today it's supposed to get up in the 80s. I told dh we will have to turn off the air and turn the heat back on.

Today is my appt. with the thyroid Dr., wish me luck! I sure can't tell much of a difference but he has me on a very low dose, he will probably increase it I'm thinking.

Shirley, house hunting is stressful enough without adding all the other things you are go8ng to be dealing into the mix. It takes a long time buy the right place and you definitely donít want to make a costly mistake.

Itís raining again here and will be for a few days. I am getting ready for my Easter dinner with our family and taking Dh to his medical appointments. He has three in the next two days.....

Where's everyone at?

I know you're busy getting ready for your surgery next week Charlotte, how are things coming along? I hope you're not too nervous. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Let us know how you're doing when you can.

Gave up on the house hunt, driving around looking at potential rental homes was discouraging to say the least. I think we will be better off buying, there's just no way we can find our dream house, get financing and be packed and ready to move in August, not with everything going on at work, plus the 10 hour days for the summer, the scrapbook for my boss, going to Colorado for nearly two weeks and going to visit dh's kids and grandkids before they move to another country in August. Hoping his brother will fly in from Oregon so he can see them too. It has been really stressing me out so we decided to stay where we're at this year. Hopefully things won't get any worse than they already are there. LOL! We don't even know where we want to live at.

Supposed to get up in the 80s today. Still kind of chilly in the mornings though.

That's about all that's new on my side of the world! Happy Wednesday!

Shirley, good luck with your search for a new place to live. House hunting can be difficult.

Taking hubby to physio in a few minutes then he is going out for lunch with his buddies. I will clean our condo while he is gone. Love being by myself for awhile. It doesnít happen very often anymore..,,

Donna, I am excited about moving but trying not to get my hopes up too much. I'm sure with our limited budget (which isn't that bad) we won't find anything as nice as I want it. Some of the houses I've seen on line lack stuff. The kitchen in most of them is pretty bad, one back wall is it. Stove, refrigerator, sink and dishwasher all on one wall! Can you imagine the lack of counter space? The last apt. complex we lived in had a small galley kitchen but not that small. The one I have now is a little bigger and a lot more counter space which I enjoy. We also got a remodeled apt. and so we had new appliances etc. I love our apt. but not liking the complex anymore, things have sure changed and gone downhill the last 4 years. This crazy guy that lives across from us scares me. I'm tired of the party's going on the other side of us outside our bedroom. I can't even count how many times we have called the police. At least the yappy dog is gone, I don't miss that. Something else I've noticed is that most of them have laminated flooring throughout. I like having carpeting in my bedroom at least. I did find out that we have to be out of our current apt. Sept. 1st that includes cleaning and last inspection. The only thing I can see us doing is finding a house that will be ready on Aug. 1st and paying rent on two places, thankfully I have the money saved for the deposit and first months rent.

I go to the Dr. today to have blood work done for my Drs. visit next week. This is for my thyroid. I just started the pills I think 6 weeks ago, at least my emotions are better and I was doing good losing weight, and then I hit the fourth week and gained back everything I had lost. I'm so disappointed. He warned me though not to get my hopes up too much on this being a miracle cure for my weight. I'm borderline so the pill may not help much. UGH!

Summer is here. Temps already in the 80s during the day, it was in the 60s this morning. We kind of have winter and summer and that's it for seasons. At least the rain that we were having everyday has let up.

I'm a big Celine Dion fan and she is going on a world tour! I'm so excited because she's going to be in Atlanta in January. I hurried and bought my tickets and splurged and got a hotel room that is just a 5 min. walk to where she is performing. I figured it would be close to midnight before we would get home and neither one of us has ever stayed downtown so this was a good excuse plus I got a good deal. I can't wait! The only concerts I've ever gone to are Kenny Rogers concerts because I had a great connection for tickets.

I've run out of things to do at work, I've already finished doing my summer work too. It's going to be a long summer!

"This too shall pass"

I need to get up, brush myself off and keep doing it until I learn to do it right!

Hi all, Karen thst just made me feel very sad about your training. What a world we live in now.

Shirley are you excited about moving to a house? It will be a big change from a condo. I hope you find something thst woeks foe, both of you.
These retirement parties sure are a big deal where you work. They are are almost a little too much especially when the staff have to do the planning. I am sure glad we didnít have anything like that.

Itís been a busy day and now I finally have a minute to sit and put my feet up before dinner.

That is sad Karen! We've had a few scares in a couple of schools, the worst one is a man walked into the office of a fairly large school with several guns and rifles and was ranting and raving about killing everyone, the secretary was great and talked the guy down, in the meantime the school administrators found out what was going on and got all of the kids safely out the back door and went through a fence to safer grounds and then buses showed up for them to sit on until parents could come pick them up. They even made it into a movie! It was awful! I'm even concerned about going to church. We belong to a big mega church and so you never know if someone is a regular attendee or just decided to sit in. The ones that scare me are the ones with backpacks. I hate that the world has come to this too. I feel sorry that my granddaughter has to go through this. Living outside of Atlanta where we live is pretty bad, every day people are getting shot, carjacked, raped etc. I can't even watch the news anymore, too depressing.

My short spring break was nice, I ended up with some kind of throat infection on Wed. I went to the Dr. I couldn't hardly swallow or talk, they did a strep test that came back negative but when she looked at my very swollen throat she thought it was. The only symptom I didn't have was no fever. Started me on a strong antibiotic and I felt better by that night. I spent the rest of the time cleaning out my closet, book cases and started going through things in the office, I got rid of a lot of stuff. We also have decided to move this fall, so we are looking for a rental house and figuring out what to do first. Hoping we can get to the closet in the office this weekend.

I have so much going on at work, another scrapbook to make for my retiring boss and of course another big party. Two other people are in our department but work in another building have announced their retirement too. So we are working on a party and a super simple (I hope) kind of scrapbook. The secretary said she just wants to go out to eat, no party, no fuss, no scrapbook, thank goodness. I think I'm the next one to retire and believe me I don't want any of this. I'm really stressed!

Karen, my bff was recently diagnosed with a D2 deficiency, I have no idea what it is. She has to take a pill everyday. She's been sick forever and just can't seem to get over it. The Dr. said the deficiency is why she is still sick and the severe fatigue she is suffering from. I hope this pill helps her. She does way too much, she's active in her church and she babysits two grandchildren under age 4 everyday of the week all day and some weekends. I can barely keep it together to babysit a 4 year old for a weekend, I couldn't do two kids everyday all day.

Need to get back to work.

Charlotte, I hope you can get rid of the cough. They tend to hang around. I bet you're getting anxious to get your surgery over with. I'm lucky that my house is all on one floor.

The sun is out and shining! (Well not yet this morning lol, but it will be). The birds were out singing when I took the dogs out at 5 - it's beginning to feel like spring. We had a teacher work day yesterday. We had an active shooter training. It's so sad that we've come to this. Now when I look at my room arrangement, it's not how to make it better for the kids to learn, it's how to make it safer in case something happens.

Me too, Donna. I have the pre--admission workup on the 17th, so am trying hard to get rid of the last annoying cold symptoms - mostly coughing, which is gradually getting better. Now that all the snow is gone in the yard, I have no excuse for staying inside. Lots of odd bits to pick up in the yard and the mess in the garage is beyond description. emoticon Also need to get my "recovery room" set up in the dining room as I won't be able to climb the stairs for awhile after surgery. That will be easier as I know what works and what didn't from the first time.

Karen I hope you can find out why you are so tired. I sure understand not liking feeling like that. More sleep doesnít help either.

Chsrlotte I sure hope your cold doesnít delay your surgery. You have all of April to get better thank goodness. It sounds like you are getting there. Gladmthere were no surprises st the bottom of the freezer. Itís great to get that job done now before you go in the hospital.

I am off to my aquasize class in a few minutes so I had better scoot.

Have a good day everyone!

Karen - glad the picnic went well and that you're enjoying your break. It was March break here last week - so quiet around town except for the shopping centres! Of course, being retired, every day is a break for me - lol.

Preparations for my hip replacement are progressing. The pre-admission appointment is in 2 weeks and surgery date on April 30. I've had a really bad chest cold for the past 2 weeks - it's slowly getting better, so am crossing my fingers that things can go ahead as scheduled. I should be exercising more though.

Busy defrosting the freezer this morning. Fortunately, no surprises waiting at the bottom this time.

We did get to go to the park Friday. It was kind of mist raining, but it eventually cleared up and the kids had a blast. A good way to end the week. I'm enjoying every minute of my break- sleeping in and being lazy lol. I went to my PCP yesterday and had blood work done to try to figure out why I've been so tired. I'm hoping it's a vitamin deficiency and not just side effects from the cancer because I hate being so tired all the time.

The sun has finally come out. It feels so good. I planted some pansies in my patio boxes yesterday. It's nice to look out and see a splash of color.

Shirley, I hope your hand is feeling better. I have to limit my crocheting because my pinky finger starts hurting like crazy. I'm not sure why my pinkie hurts lol, I guess I must hold it funny.

Happy Monday everyone! LOL!

The good thing is it's spring break for the school district I work for. I'm a 12 month employee so I'm supposed to work 3 days but I'm taking a vacation day on Wed. There's only me and 2 other secretaries and the part time person this week, no administrators. Neither one of the secretaries have come in yet. When the cats away the mice will play. They should have been here already.

I didn't get to go to the service after all. I woke up in the middle of the night Thursday with terrible pain in my left hand, it's arthritis in my thumb, the pain was horrible and my hand was swollen, I knew I couldn't drive that far in that much pain, I couldn't even get dressed without my dh's help. I felt terrible about missing it but it couldn't be helped. By mid morning it was somewhat better, it's still a little sore today. I've had this happen before only much worse.

I had my granddaughter this weekend, she was a bit feisty, what a temper she has. We had fun though. After I got her Friday afternoon I brought her up to work to meet everyone. She was her sweet self and was giving everyone hugs and kisses. They all fell in love with her.

Karen, I hope your field trip and picnic went well. Enjoy your spring break, I hope you get a lot of rest.

I've lived down in the south for 41 years now. I can't ever remember seeing the pollen just blowing in the wind like it was Sat. I didn't even want to go out in it. I don't know what I was thinking going through the car wash Sat., what a waste of time and money, by this morning it was all covered in pollen. Hopefully we will get some rain at the end of this week and wash some of this away.

The apt. complex we live in is repaving and striping the parking lot this week. What a mess it's going to be. There is one exit out and one way coming in. Today they are doing the exit side, it's going to be weird tomorrow coming in that way. Not sure how they are going to do this. They will just about have to have someone standing at the top directing traffic. Wed. they are doing right in front of our building, thankfully I don't have any plans to go anywhere that day.
Guess I should do something, not much work will be getting done this week I don't think.

Shirley, that will definitely be a sad funeral. The loss of a baby is so hard. I'm glad you have Destiny to keep you busy afterwards.

Rain predicted here today, sigh. We are going on a field trip to see a play in Louisville and had planned to have a picnic at a nice park there. We may have to go back to school and eat. I just have to survive today and then I'm off for a week for Spring Break. No plans, other than to rest and be lazy.

Karen - You have my sympathies re: your cold - definitely time to see the doctor after 2 weeks. I'm battling brochitis going on a week now and it sure takes the stuffing out of you.

Shirley - That is so sad about your friend's baby - they will need friends and family around them at a time like this. emoticon You'll want to give Destiny lots of extra hugs.

Another lovely spring day outside - cool but lots of sunshine which always lifts the spirits. I'm thinking of weighing in at TOPS tonight after a 2 week absence. Hopefully, the scale will be kind as the food intake has been much reduced.
