It's always depressing to me to see a gain when I know I've had a good week. I've added a lot of activity to my weeks yet see minimal drops and haven't gone below where I currently am. Though I have seen some inches lost, so it could be muscle gain. See how next week goes, it could just be water retention or muscle gain. A good week of eating well and activity is something to be proud of, even if you want to see that number of the scale change. Lifestyle, have to keep reminding yourself, you will see changes if you keep on with it.

Dance a little every day.

I was able to work out 482 minutes this week (using Wii Walk It Out). But even with all that movement, it actually gained one half pound. I thought for sure I would lose something. I didn't feel that I overate. Well all I can do is see what happens next week and figure out what I need to adjust to make this work.

I haven't tried this yet but did read about it in a magazine. It might have been diabetic living but I'm not sure.

Take some fruit like strawberries and dark bakers chocolate. Put the fruit on a piece of wax paper on a cookie sheet. Melt the chocolate and sweeten with agave nectar or splenda, something like that. Drizzle the fruit with chocolate and then freeze. You can keep these in a freezer bag and then you have a quick, healthy, choclate treat anytime you are craving.

The other two things I do use is sugar free pudding and Extra now makes "dessert" gum. I chew a couple pieces of the chocolate mint gum and that helps.

When I get a chocolate craving I tend to get the really expensive kind, and have one piece and really let it savor, or I quite often give in, and get hershey kisses. I'm going to try the dark kind so I can get those benefits.

I have a bag of Hershey's chocolate chips hidden out of site but when I get a bad craving for chocolate I melt 1T of the chocolate chips in microwave get a cup of fresh strawberries and 2T of reddy whip and really take my time and enjoy dipping each strawberry in the chocolate then in the whip cream.I get my fruit serving plus my chocolate fix.Hey it beats eating a whole bag of Hershey almond nuggets emoticon

l have a terrible sweet tooth--most of my problems stem from that!
l stick to weight watchers snacks and make myself up little bags of dried fruits and nuts. You can buy these already made up here in Oz - 6 in a box for around $4.
But l must admit l get cravings for chocolate all the time, so l've switched to dark choc.(which is good for you.) and l try to eat less during the day so that l have enough calories left to have a snack at night.- Get night hungers as well!
l crave sweets more in Winter, so roll on Summer l say! emoticon

Sometimes it's good to stay the same for a weigh in. It gives your body time to adjust to where you're at in your fitness level. Next weigh in you may see a big drop in weight. emoticon

emoticon Elsie on your good choices and successes. You are so right. Slow and steady and we will win the race to a better us. Remember though. It tokk years to put the weight on. So it may take a year or so to take it off. Depending on how much we have to lose. For me its a lot so maybe a year and a half.

I am very happy to say that I lost another lb. on Mondays weigh in!! that brings my total to 16lbs since March 22 . Its a very slow journey butt, its starting to happen. It took years to put this weight on...hope it only takes months to get it off.

I have restarted myself the beginning of this month. I am glad there are teams not focused on how quickly you can lose but instead on doing something more consistently. Those half pounds can really add up over time. Saturday is my laundry day as well. Raising 2 grandkids sure makes for a lot of laundry. Keep cool and remember slow and steady really works.

I restarted my program on the 20th of this month after a bad start the first of the month. Hopefully by the end of the month I'll see a marked improvement.
Today it's in the mid 90's and I'm staying inside with the a/c on as much as I can. Am washing my second load of clothes right now.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

I haven't been around much this week but hope that everyone had a good one. It is still hotter than the devil here with no relief in sight. I have lived here for nearly 18 years now and this is the hottest summer ever and I hated all the rest of them too. How can a state have no lakes within a short driving distance of a major city? And all the municipal pools have 9 million screaming kids in them so there is no place to do laps. I miss Lake Michigan.

Good morning all,

This afternoon I am going to the park to watch my dog (golden retriever)work out with his trainer. I am so sad that when I bought him I thought I would be able to train him myself and watch him chase his ball (with ears flapping in the wind) and a smile on his face.

But since I'm falling apart (all the earlier tennis, handball etc) I can only watch. I bought a new "hoopdy doo" walker and I will sit and watch and it will bring a smile and happiness to me that I am still able to enjoy him (vicariously)

Sorry if my sentences are jumbled my meds cause it.

Reading all your posts is very inspiring. I didn't do well this week while I had my niece, Maria, here with her three year old twins. She has weight issues she hasn't dealt with. I enjoyed the time with them but I let my self get off track. I want to be on track before I leave for vacation on July 30. There will certainly be eating challenges on vacation but my son and other niece Jenn (Maria's sister) have lost a considerable amount of weight and they exercise regularly. I just talked to Jenn last night about walking while of vacation. Both my son and daughter have been supportive in my losing weight but my husband has his own weight & health issues. He tries to be supportive of me but isn't ready to face his own issues so he can easily derail my efforts. So today it's back to the gym and tracking my food.

I used to love walking and hiking, but haven't been able to much the last few years because of a problem with my right ankle. So now I am really into dance aerobics which I can do in my own home and at my own pace. Doesn't matter what the weather outside is - it only matters if my great -grandson is here or not! :)

I went swimming with a friend yesterday, and treaded water for 53 minutes and was so energized when I got home that I rode my exercise bike for another 17. reaching an all time high of 70 exercise minutes. Couldn't believe it, and woke up sore. But I can't wait to do it again next week.

I got a walk in yesterday, though it was warm. I'm thinking the gym after work since I'm not going to be able to catch dance class tonight. Dance is more fun than walking, but I suppose a bit of variety is a good thing. Happy almost Friday to everyone.

Welcome back, Vicki!
We really have to be creative to get our workouts in during this scorching weather.
I Walk a half-hour early in the morning, and then work in the garden a half-hour. Most days that's all I get in. Lately I have been going to the food pantry as a volunteer on Wednesday afternoons. Stocking shelves or filling bags gives me two hours of serious sweating! Then we clean the church where it is held...a lot of work, but it's fun with others there. emoticon

Great that your pain is gone! It is a wonderful feeling to be strong enough to do something you couldn't last week or last year!
Although it is HOT, my neighbor and I walked our morning mile. Then I did another in the (semi) coolness of Walmart.
I bought some toys for my very young houseguests coming this weekend. Hula-hoops, a whiffle-ball game, a game of Go-Fish, and coloring books and crayons. I was sort of stumped at what would entertain a 2-year-old. I assume she will carry a ball around and watch the others.

I am really enjoying my morning workouts. The lower backpain I was experiencing is non existant. I was ready to go into the doctor. Yesterday I did some dead lifts with Coach Nicole. I remembered doing them a few weeks ago and how my lower back ached coming up. Yesterday I had no pain at all. I love how Nicole encourages me through the workouts to strengthen my abs and my lower back. Both of these areas are feeling stronger. The weight is not dropping as fast as I want. Going out to eat twice yesterday was no help at all. Today is a new day!

I love this thread. Everyone is so positive. I have a great balanced workout. I am eating well and logging my food. I am going to be patient and see what weight I turn out to be with this lifestyle.

It's nice that you have someplace close to ride. With a healthier attitude, it's amazing the opportunities you can find to add some exercise. I find that if it's not outrageously hot, I'll walk to trivia which is a little over a mile away, then ride home with my roommate. I could probably walk home, but it's usually 10:30 and I don't want to get home that late. :)

Not to much going on. I gave my knee a rest over the weekend, and my bike bud wants to ride on Wednesday.....I thought I ought to 'test' it first. I was out of tomatoes, and there is a fresh produce stand under a mile from me, great reason for a ride.....like I need one! I continued into town and stopped at our township building to donate a used cell phone before heading home. 8 miles, after walking over 5 this morning. We shall see what the knee feels like tomorrow!

We had so much rain in the Spring, now we have none. little streams are dried up, and those that aren't are the ones that flooded last month! We walked about 90 minutes this morning, and in that time the temp went up almost 10 degrees. I'm starting to miss winter walks!

It's great that morning workouts perk up your whole day!

I spent 2 days cleaning my spare room. Everything is in its place and there is NO DUST or trash left in there. I can enjoy hobbies again! I feel thrilled to have that job behind me!!

Was feeling blue today. Can't explain why but a three mile walk got my spirits up and I decreased my time by a minute. Maybe I should be blue more often?

Got home from work last night at midnight and preceded to eat an entire block of brie cheese, crackers, jelly beans, a glass of wine and some strawberry ice cream. Oh for goodness sake! What the heck was that all about? Hubby and kids are away for the weekend, so it is something I would never do when they are home. NO, I am not lonely, really loving the silence, even for just a few days. Anyway, onward. HUGS!

Hello,
Well I am coming off a tough week. I could not get myself to exercise. The week before my husband and I were on a business meeting in Kentucky. I am usually on Central time, but was up at 5am Eastern time to get my whole workout in before the meetings started. One positive thing is that I have been eating well during my hiatus. Yesterday I read an old post from myself from June 2010. Believe it or not my own post kicked me in the butt and I started working out again yesterday. So I am back on track. WOOHOO!

Good for you that you tackled the junk room. It is telling that you devote an entire room to it. I grew up with a lot of clutter and have one sister who definitely qualifies as a hoarder so I guess I (someone had to do it) became a total opposite in reaction to this. So guess what? My first husband was a pack rat and then my second is better but not the easiest person to part from outworn, no longer being used things. I guess it is my punishment for being so hard on a lot of members of my first family. Good for you that you recognize clutter needs to be done battle against!!!!

The temp got to 101 here today.
I worked outside for about 15 minutes this morning, then got my workout in by vacuuming the whole house.
I spent the afternoon cleaning out my junk room...DOWN WITH CLUTTER!

We are starting a Christmas in July challenge on one of my other teams and I really need it. I seem to be all over the place with my eating lately - one day way under calories the next day way over. Challenges really motivate me and I also have to get a new pedometer when I can afford a decent one.

It's been a week. Just so much stuff going on, and I hate to waste the sunshine by sitting inside! I have been out with Splash every day but Monday, had my bike out 3 times and now my left knee is strongly objecting. Today is a vendor show that mly presence has been requested at, and I am vollunteering at the root beer stand on the local rail trail......both are within 5 miles, so I will probably take the bike. Other than that, things are quiet and stress-free, just the way I like my life.

God morning-My first post in along time. I read all your posts and decided it was time to wade in.

Yesterday I donated 80 of my greeting cards to a Charity that helps 3rd world children with operations. I love making the cards but after awhile you run out of enthusiasm with no one to give them to.

Now I can go back to make more and get off my duff wondering what to do today.

I have almost given up cooking. My hubby doesn't like anything and I'm off my taste for beef.I am going more veggies/eggs/fish etc. For lunch (if I don't go out) I just have 1/2 sandwich and a V8 juice -Maybe a few chips. It satisfies me. But the scale just stares at me and dares me to step up!!!!!!!!!!! I think I'd better start the Summer shakes between meals to give me the right calorie intake (and stick to it)And maybe find a low carb diet plan on Sparks.

I'll show it(the scale) . One week I will get on it and be very happy-Now I just dread the thought that after doing so good i will be disillusioned if it doesn't show progress.

Change of subject--My biggest problem now is how to eat all my tomatoes/green beans. I (every year) can't believe the difference in taste in home grown produce and store bought "stuff"!!!!
I't not enough to freeze/can so I look for recipes that I like (even though hubby doesn't like anything" that is small enough for 2 meals .

Just keep up the positive dialogue it really is uplifting and very motivational.
