I can be indecisive. I hate making life-altering decisions and I have a few to make now.

Hopefully I'll make the right decisions.

I'm so sorry for all your losses. It is a really hard time, I know.

I guess my decision to either take my mom home to let her live until she passed or try to get her into therapy to get her to be able to move around. She weighed over 200 lbs and I was just barely over 100 lbs so it was difficult, I opted for the therapy and was wrong. She was never able to get around on her own. She stayed in the therapy part of the nursing home until she went into hospice, that was back in 2010. I believe in heaven so I know she isn't in pain and living a better life, but I still miss her. I also regret that I didn't spend more precious time with her while she was home.

Other than a long list of poor life choices on my part, there are only a couple I would call life-changing conscious decisions and the best "mistake' led to over twenty years of happiness with my present wife. One of those "Thank God for Unanswered Prayers" things.

When my first husband left me. I was devastated and moved around like a zombie. Then I decided I couldn't live with a man I didn't trust or respect and I couldn't trust or respect a man that was tired of being a father to his 2 children. That changed my life.

When Daddy got lung cancer he refused treatment. We all knew he would. The Dr tried to get us to say he was inconstant and get him treatment. We said NO that is what he wanted, that is the decision he told us years ago he would make. As it was he only lived a week and treatment would have started in 2 weeks.

We just sold property that has been in the family since the 1850's. Some of the kids are devastated over it. Certainly not life threatening but one child (who is 57) says it ends our family relationships. I think and hope we all realize the necessity of this decision to sell and move on...

Deaths in our family have all been instant and there were no decisions we could have made to alter that.

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of May 2019. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2019 to be back to below 155.

yes. We had to choose between surgery that MIGHT kill my dad, and NO surgery with hope for the best.
We chose to go along with the doctor's viewpoint that my dad was too unstable for surgery.
Dad died the next evening.

The only good thing is we were all there with him as he passed his final hours.

That depends on what you call life changing. Some of the basic ones such as what college to attend, when and what partner to marry, when and what partner to divorce, most recently to precipitate a house downsizing and interstate move. All of these are life changing. Sometimes we have a partner or circumstances to help with the process, sometimes not. At one point I had to convince my mother to sell her home and move into Assisted Living, which was certainly life changing for her; ultimately she was happy about it. Life or death, or life-changing in the sense of performing surgery or something so immediately drastic? No, I have been blessed not to have ever had that put on me.

Have you ever had to make a decision that was life-changing? Care to share it?
