I can't remember advices I've been given in the past. Most recently has been to keep my eye on the ball. I guess it relates to other things than playing ball, like "keep your eye on the prize." Maybe mostly it would be not to listen to those who are always saying I can't do something (not able to do things). I have heard those things so often and they seem to make me feel that I can't or I am too stupid, though I really know they aren't true, so I need to remember not to listen to them. So maybe the best advice is not to listen to the negative people.

I was told by my brother that I would never be good for anyone if I wasn't being good to me. The reference was made as he watched me struggle in a marriage that was neither healthy or fulfilling. At the time I didn't realize just how important that advice was. During the hard times as i left my marriage behind it became crystal clear to me.

My mother told to treat others as I would want to be treated. Not always easy but I have always tried to follow that rule.

From My Doctor. He told me that I already had enough work being a single mom of two teenagers and a full time job. Don't make weight loss a job. Anything I felt was to much like work, find a simpler way. He made sense. I track my food with a pencle and paper, I don't count calories, but I do know my serving sizes and if it is made in a plant I read the label. Well I was doing that because of food intolerance, but looking up at the chart. It is so much easier just to not eat things made in a plant.

What was the best advice you ever received? Who was it from? Did you realize how good it was at the time or did the understanding come later?
