I've only ever counted intentional exercise, which works best for me.

I echo what others said. I got fat doing housework and yard work so I feel obligated to only count the things I do as an intentional exercise that is over and above what I always did do while getting fat. Losing weight and getting healthy is about change and I only count things that are changes in my activity patterns. OTH... whatever works.

Depends on what I am doing.

SP says that exercise is intentional and for at least 10 minutes, by their definition. If I go out to mow the yard and do it for at least 10 minutes it is exercise. If I grab my dogs leash and go out for a walk, if I walk at least 10 minutes it is exercise. If I turned around to go home after 5 ,minutes my dog would sit down and not budge till I continued our walk, This morning 2.8 miles

I didn't used to count it, but have lately. I wonder, though, how much it counts when you can only do 5-10 minutes at a time. I haven't yet lost any weight doing the yard work or anything around here and haven't lost any weight playing pickleball twice a week plus trying other exercise.

I have always felt we are to do more then we use to, to count it as exercise. So anything that you couldn't or didn't do before you should count. I have always straighten and swept the house, so don't count it. My husband has always mowed till we moved and he falls trying to mow these hills, so I can count it cause I didn't use to do it. Since I max out my exercise minutes with dog walks I don't normally put it down

I don't count housework separately - the steps are included in my daily step counter. Yes, I agree, I wish crafting counted. When i sit in my chair and knit for hours, my Misfit Shine thinks I am asleep.

I have a couple of times, but not too often. Since I live in an apartment, I have no yard work & I don't shovel the snow. I do housework, but not really enough at one time to worry about counting.

Wondering how many calories I can count for crocheting & making jewelry. Nah! I don't think so.

Do you include housework & yard work on your fitness tracker? If not, why?

Simple and easy cleaning, such as dusting, taking out the trash, straightening and changing the bed linens, can burn up to 170 calories per hour for a 150-pound person. And heavier duty tasks such as sweeping the floor, washing windows and cleaning the garage can burn more than 250 calories an hour.

A 150-pound person can easily burn 200-400 calories an hour working in the yard.
When it's snowy outside, you can burn 400-plus calories an hour shoveling the powdery stuff.
