I went out to play with my 15 year-old son today. I thought I was going garage sale-ing by myself, but he joined me..that was awesome!

For right now, we are using the FitGirl Challenge forum, and I will definitely post the daily challenge on there. I do like your idea of the FGW AND FGD. I will see about changing it up. I do have a forum for the points that I will be posting weekly. I appreciate your imput a great deal.

I do have a suggestion. I think it will make the challenges easier for you. Some of the other teams I've been on have made one forum for results of daily/weekly challenges and weigh ins. The idea is to go in and edit your last post so there aren't too many posts all over the place that you have to find.

It's also helpful to have your challenges listed all at once in one spot. I still get reminder emails about what the daily/weekly challenges are, but if I forget, I can go and check the forum where they're all listed.

When we go in and post our weights, We can also post our points for weekly challenges (we could call them FGW (fit girl weekly) and FGD (fitgirl daily) or something. So the edited posts would look something like this:

weight 205 loss -2 cardio 240 strength 129 fgd 39 fgw 15

The post can have whatever you want in it. I just made that up. It might be easier for our leaders to track.

Oh no, It's not bothering me. I just can't remember what I'm supposed to be doing and when I'm supposed to be doing it! I just need to take my time and reread the posts to figure it out. I'm so glad you are doing a challenge. This is such a great team and I'm happy to be part of it.

susan that is i didn´t expect to hear that soon that you have done the 3miles.i think it is great and i am so proud of you.keep up the good work and don´t forget to post it in the non scale succsesss thread so everyone can congatulate you.soory you are feeling confused about the challange.what is bothering you the most?as this is our first challange as we are a very new team it is all new to us as well.if we can do things better or things a bit easier for you,let us know we are always open to suggestion.

Well, I did it! I ran 3 miles outside yesterday! I was so excited. The best part is, I passed a little boy and his father. The little boy asked his dad who I was and his father replied, "Just a runner." HA! Did you hear that? I'm a runner!!! I was so excited I wanted to hug that guy!!

I'm REALLY confused about our challenge. I guess it's because I'm in 2 other challenges and they all seem to be done differently. I'm sorry I'm not keeping track of everything.

Susan.. just for you. that is awesome. can't wait to hear when you run your goal of 3 miles. I am back on track with my exercise. i missed a few days, and then this morning wasn't feeling well but still exercised 30 minutes. I will do my full routine tomorrow.

Karen, I'm so sorry. It is going to be difficult for you. Especially with the holidays. I hope the time passes quickly. Will there be a way you could visit them half way through?

Genia, That must be very frustrating. It's happened to me plenty of times so I understand how you feel. The good news is, you're working on your heart health and endurance by sticking with the exercise plan AND you're losing inches! I think the scale will catch up quickly! Hopefully by your next weigh in.

Yesterday I went to the park with my daughter, Katie. Katie runs high school cross country. We ran together and I was able to run a mile without stopping! This is a major milestone for me! Before I had kids I was running 3 miles about 5 days a week and I loved it. It's been 18 years since I ran outside. I'm very proud of myself and hope that I can build on that and get back to 3 miles. I would love to run with her in some of the races she does for fun.

I pasted all the information for the challenge today. Now all I have to do is measure myself! It looks like a fun way to keep motivated. Thanks for getting it organized!

thanks for that susan and genia,guess it is just the prise we pay for being mothers the guilt we feel if we are not there for them.in answer to your question susan,ayman will be away for 8 weeks(just over)and lotfi and the boys will be away for 6weeks they go on the 28th ofjuly.they will all be coming back on the 12 of september. in time for school to start on the 14th.in the time they are away we will also be having our ramadam and our eid at the end of ramadam(one of our two biggest religious celerbrations)so i will be alone for it.at least lotfi and the boys will be really able to celabrate this year with all lotfi´s family.

planning on doing a pic nic with sil and her kinder.the oldest boy is over for the summer holidays from tunisia so the kids are looking forward to seeing him.weather looks good for it.what is everyone else planning.


genia the extra weight could be to do with the exttra muscle you are building they weigh heavier than fate and to have lost 7" already you must have built up alot of muscle as they take up less room than fat does so i wouldn´t worry about it too much.i put on a lb this week but not because i have built up any muscle i am afraid to say.

Karen...You definitely are not a bad MOm..you are one of the strongest women I know!! Us Mom's find it hard to take care of ourselves sometimes (for me 21 years before I started LOL) . We definitely need to take care of ourselves, so we can take care of children, and each other! and a great big (FitGirl WooHoo) for choosing to buy yourself something than to buy chocolate..thats huge!!!

Bettyboop... we are here for you! we have all been in those situations.. thats why we are in the process of getting healthy and losing weight. you are recognizing what 'triggers' you, and in the future you will be able to better handle that situation, because you are being honest with yourself. so here's a to you as well!!!

Well I must say, I am not frustrated (but I am, kinda sorta). I have worked out intensely doing the P90X (very intense workout regime) for 3 weeks now. I weighed in this morning, and I am up .8 lbs. I definitely have lost inches, but I am up .8 in the last 3 weeks. I will not let that stop me. I do need to review my eating habits, and I know there are things that I can change to help boost my weight loss again.

so here is a great big "FitGirl WooHoo" to everyone today!! keep up the great work, you can do it...its in you...the FitGirl is coming out in all of us!!!

Karen good for you! Buying eyeshadow instead of chocolate IS living without emotional eating. I'm sorry you're worried about the kids upcoming trip. I would feel the exact same way. I think you are a strong person to be able to do it at all. It will be for the best during your surgery though. How can you take care of everyone when you are trying to recover? How long will they be away?

feeling a bit down to day.yesturday we booked aymans and my nieces flight to tunis for the 14 july which is when she wanted to go,now i have all theese thoughts and feelings going through me.what will he be like without us,what will i be like without him,what if he takes ill like last time,etc,etc,i am feeling like maybe i am a bad mother for letting him go without me.i know it is for the best when i have the op and lotfi will be there a couple of weeks later with him with zakariy and ayyub .i also know that when he gets to tunisia he will have his grand parents and loads of aunts,uncles and cousins to look after and play with him but i still have this guilt feeling.i guess that´s the price of motherhood but i am doing my best not to emotionally eat,right after booking the flight i really wanted to eat or should i say gorge chocolate but i didn´t i used the money i would have spent on chocolate and brought myself some eyeshadow instead.must post that on this weeks success threads.anyway hope you all have a great weekend planned.will try to drop in to chat later in the day and remember fit girls,let the fit girl shine through.

I have had really good work outs for the past 2 days. I'm hoping I can continue them all week and then see what the scale has to say! I may not get those big numbers some members are able to get but I am steady and consistent. I guess I'm more like the turtle than the hare!

It's been dreadfully hot here in Maryland, USA. How are things where you are?

here is my update: let me introduce myself:

My name is bettyboop and I am an emotional eater....

ON tuesday i had to go to an appointment w/ DS at a city 90 min away. i DID pack us all our food :) yea for me~ then the next day I had to go back to that city myself for my own appointment. I packed food (a small amount) but i ended up staying because they were able to do another test while I was there. (all good news by the way.) I went to the little cafeteria and what do you know- they had FRESH FRUIT and hummus w/ veggies. I had also packed a PB&J. alas that was not enough. On the way home I stopped at a raw food restaurant. i got 'tacos' ..it sounded sooo good..and it was..but the taco 'meat' was walnuts and there was plenty of guac. Still- not a BAD day. pretty good.

BUT THEN... the STRESS OF ALL OF THAT...put a number on me today. oh did i mention...my PARENTS came to visit today. for me that is high stress and also brings up lots of feelings that had to do with the previous days appointments. SO I SCARFED. I also have not had my eggs for breakfast for 3 day..have been totally out. i need my protein first thing. Thankfully i have a new day tomorrw (and i have eggs.)

Keamom, i understand. I have been doing the P90X for 3 weeks and haven't lost a pound. I did lose 1.5 lbs, but then gained it back. I have lost at least 7 inches though since last saturday, so I know that its workings. sometimes the scales are against us. LOL. I do know that right now my appetite (true hunger) has increased since i really started to do this intense exercise. but i am determined to keep doing it, because i see and feel the difference.

Karen... any news on when you will go in for you op yet?? i know you have been waiting patiently. i hope that the other boys sleep through the night for you so you can get back to at least getting some form of rest. you definitely deserve it.

I woke up an hour late this morning, the time i was supposed to exercise. i worked 12 hours today, went for a 2 mile walk with the hubby, so i think i am gonna call it a day.

no sue not really,my husband ´s family apart from one sister lives in tunisia and my family live mostly in england and wales or austrailia so nothing on that score.when the kids go to bed tonight i plan to go roughly the same time so hopefully i will manage to get some shut eye in at some point.should be used to this as because of zakariya normal medication he has to have it every 4 hours so usually have an interupted night anyway it just gets more interupted when one or the other kids get ill if you know what i mean.so is life.

susan have you checked your calorie range at sp,i know you are suppose to do it every so often as the more weight you loose the less calories you need.not certain how you do it though.lol also if you have been increasing your exercises lately perhaps you are looseing more inches than weight as muscle take up less space as fat but weigh more so that could also be slowing the weight down.if you don´t measure yourself maybe now is the time to start.if you do check it out to see if you have lost more inches.another reason can be water retention,worth checking out.let us know if you find the answer.sue suggestion is also good,i know several people here on sp who swear by calorie cycling.wher for 2-3 days you eat at the lower end of your calorie scale and 2-days at the highwer.it keeps the body guessing and stops it going into starvation mode.

Karen, you really need to get some sleep. Is there someone who can sit with the children while you take a nap?

Keamom, saw Bill Clinton at the match yesterday and he didn't look as if he knew what was happening either..lol.
I tried to watch an American football game when it was on our tv but couldn't make head or tail of it, so much stopping. My dear friend on here has tried to explain but I am going to have to wait until I visit her in a few years..lol
HOw are you doing with your calories, if you are eating at the low end of your cals try upping to your high end for a few days, that usually shakes things up. Although if you are exercising a lot and not made allowances for this you should maybe be eating more anyway. Make sure you have entered the amount of exercise you do on your start page so spark can work out your calorie range properly

While I don't normally follow football (typical American! lol) I was very happy to see that the USA finally made it past game 4!

For some reason my weight loss has slowed down. I'm not sure why. I'm eating the same calories and exercising ALOT. Maybe I need to shake things up a bit and change my routine. I wouldn't mind that too much because riding my bike is getting very boring anyway!

steph don´t know wheather thurday will be a great day or not just the usually house hold chores.it would be nic3e to get a bit of sleep in but that is always impossible in the day.was up most of the night,ayman is cutting his last teeth and was crying on and off all night and zakariyas asthma was really bad the whole night and was up and down with him most of the night before i decided to bring him into our bed,then his coughing and wheezing woke the baby up again so all in all,i am tied and guess will be doing the housework slowly because of the tiredness.so is life sometimes.it would help if i could exercise but as i am on a ban till after the op i don´t even have the luxury of that pick up.

Good to see that both USA and England won their football matches yesterday and both have gone through to the next round of the World Cup. Sadly you beat us to top spot even though we both had 5 points USA scored a couple more goals so went higher. This means England play Germany next and will probably be going home on Sunday night..lol
USA play Ghana on Saturday and you should romp through. USA are playing really well at the moment

Got up early to walk, and actually walked to work with DH at 5.30 and then around the park a couple of times and back home, did 4 miles. Got home, had a shower and watered the garden, up and down 8 times with a large watering can (got to be strength training???) and it is now 8.15

Hoping for a quiet day, was watching a tennis match last night and they have to come back today to finish, the 3rd day, score is 2 sets all and 59-59 in the final set, they have smashed all the records, played nearly 10 hours, one guy (USA) has 98 aces and the other guy(France) has 95 aces, unbelievable. Don't know how they will walk this morning

Karen, you will be torn on Sunday as England are playing Germany, don't cheer if England score..IF..lol

Got all my jobs done this morning so I can watch 2 football(soccer) matches this afternoon. I will watch the USA match live and tape the England match as they are on at the same time, we are both in the same group and I hope we both go through, but if England doesn't play better fear we may be out of the World Cup and then I will have to cheer for USA..lol

all I can say is Air is fixed!! hip hip hooray!!

Supposed to be 99 here with the heat index 105+ today. We will be working again in the hayfield. If everything goes well (with no problems), this should be our last day of raking & baling hay. Then, we will have to start hauling it in....might take 3 full days...never know what might come up.

I'm definitely getting my water and exercise in!

Good morning all, beautiful day here in UK..sorry Karen..set to be like this all week, high 70's early 80's.
Got up early as dh is on day shift and watered all the garden before the sun got on it. Had a busy day yesterday so taking it easy today. Will be watching tennis at Wimbledon, but I have started walking on the spot while the ends change and they have their breaks, plus as I am also watching the football(soccer) World cup I am walking on the spot through half time..lol
I realised it is only about 4 weeks to my 5K Race4Life race. This will be the 3rd time I have done it. I only walk, but each time I am getting faster, knocked 5 mins from my time last year. I usually do it alone, but tag onto strangers walking at my pace, but this year one of my dil's is doing it with me, she walks as well.

Whatever you are doing today, have a good one and look forward to getting to know you and helping this team take off, btw, any idea what the challenge will be? I have signed up to do 10,000 steps but will have to work my way up, although when we were on vacation last week, I did at least 12,000 per day

Yesterday I ran a half a mile. It was the first time I ran outside in about 20 years. It felt great. Even though the distance wasn't that far, I feel very accomplished and certain I can build on it.

it was a beautiful day today, it was in the high 70's with sunshine. sorry karen, thats just way the cookie crumbles today. but.... our central air unit went out today, so until it gets fixed, i pray the weather stays that way.
