I have arthritis in the thumbs, as well as back. The orthopedist injected my thumb, which was extremely painful, but it's held off the pain for almost 2 years. He also suggested Voltaren, which is extremely expensive. He told me that it's sold over the counter in Canada. I contacted one of the Canadian drug pharmacies in Florida, where I live, and got it for a fraction of the price. It was the same product that I would have gotten from Walgreens (or wherever), but instead of over $200, it was about $8. This was a few years ago.

I see this is an old thread but I have been really wondering about pain medications. I have taken naproxen for a long while and many doctors tell me to get off, they would rather I use narcotic pain meds. They only work for 4 hrs, have to be prescribed by a pain clinic dr, and only 30 days at a time so I would have to go in every month to get refills, which is very costly and they have side effects I can't stand.
ISN"T THERE ANYTHING FOR OA SUFFERERS?
Seems all the research goes to RA. I have tried a few other things like a healthy diet, turmeric, topical rubs, TENS, nothing works! For my spine, injections help. But for other joints, the NSAIDs are the best. At least they decrease the stiffness and inflammation. I can't stand to go without.

Votaren rub works. ..for both myself and hubby. Sorry to hear no meds help with pain. I find they work on some pain, for a while....I'm hoping it will continue to help. What type of arthritis gives you pain?

I haven't found any medication so far that really alleviates my pain. My go to is exercise and Voltaren which seems to help.

Have a pain free night!

Hello everyone, finally a place were I do not stick out like a sore thumb...which also hurts among other parts of me :(.
Attempts at staying active and not go to food for comfort when in pain, not to mention dealing with people who cannot grasp what it is like to live from day to day not knowing how artritis/migraines will determine what the day will be.
Finally, people who understand...
I am wondering if anyone is or has taken Tiprofen Acid for arthritis? Switch from Celebrex and so far having good results....a lot of water retention. ( at least it's what I think the weight gain is).
Wishing everyone a pain free day.
