I did really well yesterday. I was starving for pizza so I got some and stayed within my calories and fat yesterday. A first since I started tracking last week! That was a baby step!

I have been surrounded by trigger foods and binge foods and I have not indulged. It is remarkable to me. I spent the last two days volunteering as the person in charge of feeding dozens of people in connection with an athletic tournament. I was surrounded by food, serving food, buying&preparing food, offering people food...yet I ate very small portions of only a couple of things. There were some stressful moments, and I was physically exhausted because I was on my feet constantly, going up and down stairs, from one end of a large school to the other (got my steps in, for sure) and I was waiting for the familiar urge to "eat thru my anxiety", and it didn't come. I came home, worn out, and my husband sat next to me and ate candy and he and my sons ordered pizza, and I have eaten none of it. This is the opposite of how I have behaved in the past. I would have eaten, and over-eaten, and then been remorseful. Instead I am a little hungry, very tired, and heading to bed. Amazing. I am grateful. Thank you Sparkpeople.

I will find strength in pain and I will change my ways....to live my life as it's meant to be.

I am very excited with my determination today. I excersized harder and stuck to my meal plans. Overall I am thrilled. I need a spark buddy and haven't found one yet. But I'll keep on trying. Have a great night! : )

I feel like I did pretty well today, but there are some things I need to work on:

- Drink more water. I am still only getting to about 6 cups a day.
- Lower fat intake. This is hard because I am trying to hit my calorie goals ... I need to find a middle ground.
- Eat enough carbs. It sounds crazy, but I'm about 30 carbs behind usually!

I originally planned to go to the gym today, but changed my mind and decided to take the day off. To make up for it I will go back on Sunday (instead of Monday). I am pretty sore from working out Monday - yesterday (weights on Wednesday and last night worked my BUTT off on the elliptical and treadmill). Instead of getting burned out and discouraged, I figured it was worth it to stay home and recharge my batteries.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

I had high hopes of getting on a plan of eating correctly and regular excersise. but i have been way laid with a terrible cold. I slept terrible last night .... so i slept in this morning instead of getting up and walking and then eating.
I ended up skipping breakfast. But I did manage to take my dog for a 20 minute walk. I did have some lunch but it was not the most healthiest . Because I just grabbed something instead of going with a planed menue for the day.
Hopefully I do better tomorrow. emoticon

I didn't sleep at all last night (have no idea why), but I'm still feeling full of energy today. I've done cardio the past 3 days and some weight/strength training today. Today was the first day I didn't weigh myself, even though the scale looked so tempting.... When I go to the store in a little while I'm going to get a tape measure so I can measure my body and track progress that way too.

Checking in for today, already went for my walk. Today I took one of the other dogs, lets just say tomorrow I am going to walk dog free; I like the company and safety of having a dog with me, but they get to distracted and wind up tripping me! emoticon

Off to look for some strength training I can do today to up my calorie burn and look for a job!

walked 2 days in a row. emoticon

The first three days of this week have been difficult for me, personally. See, I'm graduating in May and I'm having to start making those decisions about my whole life and it's overwhelming and scary. Thankfully, I started a new workout on Tuesday. Taebo Bootcamp, and it is intense. The video is 55 minutes long. For right now, I'm doing 30 minutes but eventually I'm going to do the whole thing!!! Have a Terrific Tuesday everyone!

I did it, I went for a walk. It was only a half a mile, but it was more than nothing!! Plus I took the yellow lab with me who isn't really leash trained, so it was a little more of a work out!!

Day 2 for me, but yesterday didn't really count I had no food in the house that could possibly be included in healthy eating, but I went shopping last night, so started today with a good breakfast.

My struggle is since I haven't worked in 2 years my sleeping patterns are way off and I just can't get into a good routine. I WILL GO ON A WALK TODAY!!!

Also, my school does alot of charity work, and some of the girls I teach had baked cakes and were going around with them to sell for charity and so I had two mini cupcakes with frosting, which has taken me over my kcal limit for the day. Oops. emoticon emoticon

BUT tomorrow is another day, plus I'm going running tonight.

I have recently found something that I think will help me reach my goal of 8 cups of water per day. At WalMart they sell 64 ounce water bottles. I figure if I fill it up in the morning I can work toward finishing it off by the time I go to bed. Perhaps this would help you. :)

I had a great day today! I ate well and got on the treadmill for a half hour. And as an extra bonus, I have no homework this evening :)

One problem I am having is hitting my daily calorie count. Twice a week, I am at school during lunch. In my lunch I pack 1/4 cup almonds, 1/4 cup dried berries, string cheese, a Jello Mousse cup and some type of fruit. The rest of the week my goal is to sit down to eat lunch.

Another problem is drinking enough water. I have definitely increased the amount I'm drinking, but still not enough to get to or above 8 cups.

I hope you all had a great day as well!

Have used SP in the past in fits and starts. Tried to talk myself into giving up today when it was taking me so long just to enter food but reminded myself most everything takes longer in the beginning due to the learning curve. If I am going to be on the computer at times anyway, better to be dealing with my health than reading things about people I have never met who are doing things that are none of my business ( in otherwords, gossip)! I also like the idea of tracking food ahead of time. Lack of planning has been a downfall of mine. Eating too little leads to eating too much, time after time. Am also facing the fact that though my husband brings home thousands of empty calories week after week, he has yet to force one bite of food into my mouth. I would love for him to be supportive regarding food - he is NOT and chances are he will not be. This is my battle. I know all about self-sabotage. Drink some water and start over the same day - am telling this to you as well as me. Take care.

I will find strength in pain and I will change my ways....to live my life as it's meant to be.

Yesterday was my first day. I immediately sabotaged myself - oreos, little debbies, pop tarts. ARGH!

So today is my new start. I like the idea of printing out the food plan for the day. I did well previously when I had a list of food to eat for the day and just crossed it off as I went.

Yesterday was my first day. I did well on exercise and tracking my food (but 2 chocolate chip cookies did me in)...I must plan better for my sweet tooth!

One tool I love is the Sparkpeople Blackberry ap. If you have a smartphone (Blackberry, Droid or iPhone), Sparkpeople has a free ap you can download to track your food and exercise. I'm a busy mom on the go and I find tracking my food difficult. I used this yesterday and it worked really well - very easy and always with me.

Good luck, everyone! Thanks for being on this journey too!

Hey everyone -- well done on checking in!! It does help in the long run to "say out loud" how we are doing.

Soccermommy -- It's hard becuase you are not in the habit yet. It takes 21 repetitions of things to create a habit. Here are the things I have found that work:

At night after the kids are asleep, I sit down and plan tomorrow's food, put it all in the tracker, and print it out. That way I don't have to think about what to eat or even track it! And I'm less tempted to eat "kid" food. Then in the evening, I just adjust it to what I actually ate. That system also helps me realize what gets me off track.

If that won't work for you, try just jotting it down in a small notebook (I keep one in my purse so it's always where I am) and put it all into the computer either first thing in the morning or last thing at night. My hubby jots all his down and enters it into the computer once a week but I don't like to do that much work at once.

Last tip -- just make a deal with yourself that you can't take a single bite unless you journal it first. Before you bite, write. Either on paper or online -- it doesn't matter. It's the writing that keeps us accountable.

That was a bit long winded -- hope something there helps.

Well I guess tomorrow will kind of be my first day starting this. I had surgery on 12/27 and lost 10 lbs pretty quickly after that and I would like to continue that trend. I am hoping my fiance is a help to me in this and will join me in this goal to a healthier life.

Today was a little tougher, when I got the urge to snack. I did pretty well, I drank a lot of tea, and munched on some veggies. I had a few tortillas, but I measured them out instead of diving into the bag.

emoticon Workzone and CSI!

A study was recently published that shows pretty definitively that tracking works. Even if ALL we did was track our food, we'd more thank likely lose weight!

SO imagine how much difference it makes to add in exercise and support!

Have an awesome day, friends.

I'm on day two, and I actually planned what I was going to eat today last night, which is pretty organised for me! I've tried to leave myself some snacking room, but it looks good so far. I just need to get my head around the protein problem!

I joined and started using the nutrition tracker yesterday (Sunday). It's a bit tedious to enter the food, but it really made me think about what I was eating.

I'm taking this one day at a time and its day 2 already.

emoticon job!!

That is part of learning how to find healthy opportunities! We're not always going to be able to track everything we eat or be in control of what we eat and where we eat. So when we aren't in control, we have to learn how to make the best of it and you certainly did that!!!

Today has been a good day so far. Thinking about taking the puppy for a walk here shortly.

It can be very complicated!

Using the nutrition tracker can be a very eye opening experience! But I promise it is worth it!! Try using it for a week or two and it will eventually become second nature to you.

If you need any help, let us know!

I had a good day today! It was interesting to use the tracker, I didn't realise how little protein I consumed, so that's something I could work on, as Protein is pretty important for running. I also need to think about getting more calcium-but withn a calorie limit. It's so complicated!
