TAIJIMAN,

I agree. I am not currently practicing but plan to get back into Tai Chi. Balance and core strength are essential being a sub engaged in predicament bondage - as is flexibility.

I find my taijiquan training helps with balance, flexibility and most importantly, mindful awareness.

I am working on overall weight loss. But I have been focusing on my arms and upper body strength for when I do rope bondage and suspensions.

I'm working mostly on flexibility to help with bondage. It'd be nice to be more bendy so I can be tied up in fun new ways.

I work on flexibility and excerises to strenghten/protect my knees. Kneeling for long periods is not as easy as it used to be.

I'm working on dropping quite a bit of weight - I am 105 kilos now, and according to the PT I had an appointment with today I should weigh no more than 68,5. Now, I think that is pretty much unattainable, but Sparkpeople suggested a goal of 82 kilos and that is what I have decided to go with. I have been just below 80 once before as an adult, but that is almost 7 years ago and I am not sure I have the kind of time to put away for working out as I had back then. In those days I'd frequently be at the gym for 2-3 hours 4-5 times a week, and yeah...these days getting to the gym at all is somewhat of an uphill battle, but it's gotten easier so I'm hoping that my 'addicted to working out' days will be back soon :).

My regime...I focus mostly on building muscle and working on flexibility right now. The gym I go to don't have aerobic classes and the like, and I'm stuck in that contract for another two months...after that I will probably try to find a gym that offers aerobic classes as well, specifically the programs from LesMills (bodypump, bodydance, etc) because I remember that I used to dig those and that they really worked both as a motivation to work out and that the classes themselves were effective.

I should probably focus more on upper body strength, since that is where I'm weakest...but it's so much more fun to push those muscles that are quite strong already...:P

That sounds like a good plan. Standing for long periods of time is exhausting for me, so I can see the benefit of training for that.

I'm seeing improvement in my stamina and strength, despite being sick for the better part of a month now.

I'm working on dropping a lot of weight to make everything easier! I do a lot of cardio and core work plus regular weight training. Flexibility-wise I'm seeing some progress with stretching during classes, as with everything.

Better strength, endurance and healthier joins will/do all help in my longer scenes. Large needle sessions can take a few hours to do, so that's a lot of standing and bending and body-tension while I'm topping. Being more fit helps me to be in less pain and not get tired as easily.

As I get more into the kink side of my life, I'm finding that my exercise focus is getting more into training for kink. Stretching for flexibility, cardio for stamina, strength training for endurance. What's your training regime, and how does it help with your kink lifestyle?
