Is there alot of walkers in your Thursday group? I have started the jogging yet. Also, I was told by another member you did the Mud Run in March. I am trying to lose weight and train for the next mud run. Was it hard? Did you do the Fun run part or the timed part? Sorry so many questions.

Ouch! That's no fun! If I were you, I'd pack a spare pair of shoes just in case. Not all areas out there are well manicured.

I'll have to look at the billboard again. I could have sworn it said Vibrams, but I might have just been squealing about the toe shoes and not really paying attention, lol. I have seen a few people wearing toed shoes in Argyle. Next time I'm going to ask them if they're Vibrams or a cross-over.

I have seen those. They are not Vibrams though. They are kind of a blend of a normal shoe and a Vibram. They look like they would be a great transition shoe. Vibrams are basically a high tech rubber sole, very minimalistic. I absolutely love them, but those stickers were not fun at all. My feet are hurting at the moment. Hopefully Cecil field will not have those on the ground.

Glad to hear the knee is getting better. I hope you get good news on Thursday.

OUCH on the stickers, lol. I wouldn't have thought they would pierce Vibrams. That can't feel good! BTW, have you seen the Vibrams billboards around town? I'm thinking they might be in more stores now. I've seen at least three advertisements this month. Cool, eh?

Good luck with the mud run!

Melissa

The knee is much better. I went to see an orthopedic surgeon yesterday and we agreed that surgery is not the best option. He sent me to a therapist today to do a stress test on it and I passed with flying colors. The therapist then said for me to try a nice slow run today, which I did. I did 6 miles at a 11 minute pace and was perfectly fine. Although the spring weather is bringing those spikey hitchhiker balls that pierce my vibrams, so I was running on a pin cushion that was very uncomfortable.

I am meeting with him again on Thursday and he is either going to give me approval or not for the mud run, at this moment. I believe it is a go.

That is awesome! Thanks for posting this. I'm going to tell my hubby. He might be interested. How's the knee doing? Back on the bike yet?

To anyone interested in running or walking or run/walking, our companynhosts a course through the riverside and downtown every Thursday. We start at the Aetna building every Thursday at 5:15. We can provide parking, friendship, and occasionally mass quanties of laughter. We have a good blend of casual walkers to die hard marathoners that come on a regular basis. Our courses vary in distance from 1 mile to 6 depending on the group consensus. The walk and run groups generally pick their own routes right before 5:15.

I will not be there this coming Thursday, but after this one....I will be there.
