Costco has a delicious Organic Sodium Free seasoning in a large plastic bottle. It has all sorts of spices in it. Fragrant & flavorful. We love it on grilled chicken w/lemon & butter. Puts Mrs. Dash to shame. Awesome flavor!

I had eliminated most salt from my diet 2 years ago so I don't usually use substitutes.

I am enjoying trying the different MRS.DASHES they are great and so far i have not really misses the salt shaker. emoticon looking back over my tracker i found that i have been able to stay in the high end of my salt range and went over 1 day only. March plan to keep the salt in the lower end of the range. using more frozen veggies in place of the caned ones. and when i can buy the no salt added ones like tomato sauce paste and stewed tomatoes one of my favorite veggies when i have Chef megs Mac and cheese.
Marching off into March with a plan to eat more feggies and lower my salt intake and find taht hidden salt i know we can't totally do away with salt but i sure can lower what goes into my mouth .

I came across the idea of using 6 DROPS of hot sauce (Tabasco) in place of a dash of salt. I am, loving this trick. emoticon

Way to go IowaDeb! I know that there is a program called "Evernote" that also gives you the option of writing notes besides your expenses for future reference and input.

I want to start keeping track of the potassium with the food tracker.
So, I better keep better records during the day --- I can use the notepad on my phone. It is usually with me, I misplace pads of real paper

It's amazing how spices and herbs can do the trick for us when it comes to replacing our salt intake. I agree that there is plenty of sodium in the foods we eat. I was even amazed at how much sodium there was in a few foods. It's amazing where you find it. I use the SP tracker to keep track of my sodium intake, along with my vitamin D and potassium, and am super glad we have that option here. ;)

I love the post about the spices and herbs.
I never add salt because there is more than enough sodium in the foods we eat already.
I have started to add NoSalt however (0 Sodium / 640 Potassium per serving)

Herbs and spices are sooooooooooooo much better that the salt replacement products. I like dill, ginger and lemon a great deal.

Make foods tasty without using salt. Try these flavorings, spices, and herbs:

Beef: bay leaf, marjoram, nutmeg, onion, pepper, sage, thyme
Lamb: curry powder, garlic, rosemary, mint
Pork: garlic, onion, sage, pepper, oregano
Veal: bay leaf, curry powder, ginger, marjoram, oregano
Chicken: ginger, marjoram, oregano, paprika, poultry seasoning, rosemary, sage,
tarragon, thyme
Fish: curry powder, dill, dry mustard, lemon juice, marjoram, paprika, pepper
Carrots: cinnamon, cloves, marjoram, nutmeg, rosemary, sage
Corn: cumin, curry powder, onion , paprika, parsley
Green Beans: dill, curry powder, lemon juice, marjoram, oregano, tarragon, thyme
Green Peas: ginger, marjoram, onion, parsley, sage
Potatoes: dill, garlic, onion, paprika, parsley, sage
Summer Squash: cloves, curry powder, marjoram, nutmeg, rosemary, sage
Winter Squash: cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, onion
Tomatoes: basil, bay leaf, dill, marjoram, onion, oregano, parsley, pepper

Use these instead of salt and add a different taste to the foods you eat.
