Sadly I have been "slacking on the tracking"

But this week I want to really work hard at it to have records to show Cardiologist next Monday... The Spark program just does not agree with my computer and I rarely can enter more than a couple comments before it freezes up and so I don't try to use their tracker anymore

I have made my own spread sheet using values from USDA
http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/search/list

Good luck on all your efforts

emoticon I track on the Spark Tracker.
Some people have reported that they use a spread sheet also.

Do most of you following DASH track on Spark or do you log on paper? I downloaded a spread sheet from one of the DASH sites and was going to track that way but I still would like to know how many calories I am taking in so I may be logging both ways for a while. I am new to the plan and I am going to pick up the book this week.

I agree with gardensforlife. I do not know of a DASH diet to fill in the blanks. I chart 1- 3 days a week and put in 1 cup oatmeal or what have you. It seems easy enough. I don't want to live my life on sparkpeople charting like crazy. I can get crazy enough with living. emoticon

REBBIE54- I have never seen a tracker for the DASH Plan. That would be interesting.
I think about the suggestions when I plan my daily food. I do not track the suggestions on a daily basis. emoticon

I have made inroads today on the tracker but hit a stumbling block. I don't see any way to enter DASH goals in terms of the categories like grains, vegetables, fruits etc rather than the sprark tracker categories of carbs, fats protein etc. I know I can do this by building my own spread sheet and then entering in SP for the nutirents but that is pretty boring. Anyone know of a trackers specifically designed for DASH?

I'm in my own little world, but it's ok. They know me here.

Hello REBBIE54!
There are Spark People Tutorials that will help you. I had to watch them when I first joined. At the top of the SPARKPEOPLE pages type in 'SPARKPEOPLE Tutorials' in the green box and then hit the search button. It will help with the nutritional tracker.
When I am on the nutritional tracker, I can change from cups to grams on many foods by hitting the down arrow/button next to the size in the area where you enter the number of how much of the food you ate. For example- if I had 1 boiled egg, I can put the number 1 in the box and then hit the down arrow and chose between large egg, cup of eggs or other measurements.
I believe the tutorial will be easier to understand because they will show you what I am trying to tell you. I am not a tech person and the tutorial helped me.
If that does not help go to the "Help Desk" (enter Help Desk in the green box at the top of the page) and ask for help. Please let me know if you get the help you need. It is important to be able to track your food and I will do my best to help you until you get the info you need. I struggled with the tracker at first. I know how you feel.
Also, check out more articles about the Dash Plan. Some give info about other measurements besides grams.
Best wishes as you continue down the path to better health!

My plan has options. For example on carrots can be grams cups how long the carrot is. So, I would recommend just exploring. There is the technical spark section that can explain it way better than me. But I would explore. Sorry I can't help more. Can anyone else help?

One last idea--- Look at my food and maybe it will help

The DASH Plan seems to describe the food group daily servings in terms of ounces, cups teaspoons etc. The SP food tracker requires grams. How can I easily translate the DASH Plan quanities into grams so I can input them in the SP tracker?

Thanks so much..I am looking forward to participating in the forum!
