Yesterday I had a big, yet small accomplishment. I tend to eat things just because they are there. I even eat things I don't even like if itís in front of me long enough.

There is a fast-food / Italian restaurant here that I love to go to for lunch, but their portions are huge. I usually end up eating the whole thing because it's there, they gave me it as a meal and I hate waste, but yesterday I decided ahead of time that I wasn't going to eat the whole thing. I decided it was big enough for two meals and I would divide it into 2 meals. So I divided the baked rigatoni in half and only ate half and one of the sides which leaves me the other half and the other side for lunch today. I'm so happy with myself.

I'm also proud of myself on a financial level. My husband is overly frugal....also known as stingy and he hates it when I go out to many times for lunch. So this was like going out for lunch twice, but only paying for it once.

That is another one of my issues - Eating out. For me it's such a pleasure that I can't avoid or resist. I love the change in atmosphere, the change in food variety, getting out of the house and enjoying something I don't have to prepare or clean up after. I enjoy those things a little too much some times though and don't watch portion sizes.

Janet, THAT'S AWESOME. It would work so well for those of us addicted to certain TV shows.

I had to have my dog put to sleep yesterday. It was awful. Now all I want to do is eat everything for comfort - it's the only way I've ever known how to comfort myself, but so far I'm resisting.

On the plus side. The scales said I lost 1.5lb this week, so that is a motivator to resist the temptation.

I had this great idea that someone should invent a treadmill that powers a battery that powers the TV. If you don't walk on the treadmill, the TV won't work LOL!

I don't know who else has joined, but I'm finding the accountability feeds are GREAT! I find myself making better choices so I have something positive to post.

Also my husband found a treadmill desk on the internet and made one for us. We moved the treadmill upstairs to the living room and now we walk and watch TV instead of doing nothing and watching TV or worse, watching TV and snacking.

Cathy,
I developed an allergy to soy after going vegan for several months. Apparently there has been a big increase in soy allergies since soy went genetically modified. I hate what is happening to our food supply and buy organic or from the farmers market as much as possible. If anyone wants to know about GMOs and CAFOs and how that is damaging to our health and the planet, just ask me. I also recommend that everyone watch the movies "Food Inc" and "Fresh"

While I was in Texas, I stocked up on grass-fed beef (about 6 pounds of it which is all I can get in my tiny freezer.) I buy chicken and turkey that are humanely raised without antibiotics and fed a vegetarian diet but that means they are still getting GMO corn and soy.

At the farmers market today I got organic blueberries, tomatoes, squash and green beans so we will be eating well this week. I already had organic romaine on hand and will make blue cheese salad dressing with non-fat cottage cheese (blended). If I eat lots of healthy food with plenty of protein and not much sugar or grain, I don't crave the bad stuff as much.

GRAMMACATHY, That's a great idea to hide out. I often find myself coming up with ideas, but not doing them. Some days I just don't know whats wrong with me and I can't figure out how to fix myself. Thanks again.

You would think in the heat we would at least sweat something off. But no, new scales say no loss, no change. Hmmmmm. Snack tonight was a large glass of UNSW ice tea. Very good. My brain says go eat something, but I;m just going to go to bed. Not hungry, want something to do. No storms, so I have power, so I can listen to book on CD.

I thought I'd been doing good, until I stepped on the scales today and realized I haven't lost an ounce. I'm struggling to not give into the 'why bother if it doesn't work' mentality.

Congrats on not eating the Baconator. I make a good ice cream substitute with 6 oz Greek yogurt, 1 - 1/2 c frozen strawberries and a frozen chunked up banana. I put strawberries in food processor, then banana, then yogurt. Sometimes 1/2 tsp of vanilla or almond extract. Like a good soft serve, but no added sugar. Much healthier. I am looking for an ice cream recipe similar to this that will take a few pecans and a taste of maple or butterscotch. Maybe I'll try a spoon of pure maple syrup. I miss butterscotch ripple and pralines n' cream.

I DID NOT eat the baconater sandwich from wendy's !!!!! emoticon

--that I brought home for DH's lunch tomorrow. He had one today and I got him one for tomorrow. Usually I eat the second one even though I get it for him. (He won't eat healthy no matter what-he feels it is his right to eat what he wants--and yes he had a stroke at age 59 five years ago.)

Today--last day of the 2nd week on this TEAM -I ate a bit over my calorie limit anyway but the baconater (single not double) would put me way over the limit! emoticon

3/7 good Evenings this week.

I should not make excuses but hubby is giving me a hard time and I end up transferring him against my better judgement. Health aides should be doing this but he arranges his day so I get involved in that. I can't afford aides all day-only bedtime now in the summer months. This whole scenario has been very hard for me. I developed an allergy to soy after long term use. I think it also messed up my hormones.

I eat yogurt for my dairy. It seems to sit on the stomach okay. Ice cream and too much regular milk are not good. Cheese is too fattening to eat much of, but I do like a little on my salads once in awhile. I take the coral calcium with magnesium and vitamin D.

I know what you mean about additives in fresh meat, or frozen for that matter. We do a lot of vegetarian meals, and lots of beans too. I just started using Almond milk. DGD is allergic to all dairy products, eppi pen if consumed, benedryl if touched. She did soy milk for 11 years, but soy contains estrogens, so now they are trying almond milk. She gets calcium from calcium foods and calcium added to OJ.

Put up some jam w/ honey and pectin and some canned strawberry juice and I made a strawberry, banana, orange juice, apple juice, carrot and celery drink with my juicer since I had it out. It was yummy and probably loaded with calories. I intend to mix it with my oatmeal and yogurt. I may have to freeze that, if I don't get through it too quickly.

Fresh fish, turkey and chicken are the meats I eat, but not wild about the things they are feeding our animals now, so am using more beans. I prefer cooking the dried beans. I think they have a better flavor than the canned and certainly less preservatives.

That "turbo diet" with veggie drinks is not satisfying me. I get truly hungry even pretty early in the day. Maybe I need more protein early in the day. Thanks for the wonderful sugggestions! You guys are fantastic support for me who struggles. Many, many practical ideas! Thanks!

Please don't neglect your daily protein. In that veggie nibbler, include some nice whole cooked beans like garbanzo or kidney beans. Include a little of really good fats, like 1 tsp per meal of olive oil, or walnut oil, or sesame oil. The small servings of protein (1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of cooked dry beans, or 2 to 3 oz of lean lean protein, diced or slivered chicken or turkey or salmon or other fish - steamed, poached or broiled (minimum fat) is essential to reduce hunger and cravings. The seeds and nuts are a great addition, just remember that they pack a lot of fat. So 1 to 2 TBSP for the evening, and count them in as your healthy fat, and track them so you can see how the calorie distribution is running. If you know what your recommended daily calorie total should be, and you track and look at the end of day results, you will see the breakdown of where your calories come from - pie chart. You will see what time of day you get most of your calories and from what specific foods. This can really help you identify problem foods, and problem times so you can possibly alter what you are doing, where you are eating, and maybe choose to clean out the house so the "evil culprits" are no longer lurking in your cabinets or refrigerator. We all have to work on compensating behaviors and replacement behaviors to make this a lifestyle change, not a DIET. If you are not loving your veggies, it is difficult to get enough "stuff" to put in your mouth so you feel like you have eaten.

Hey, the whole point is to help each other here, not beat ourselves up. If this was me a year ago, the whole week would have been a flop. You had three good days this week. Next week shoot for four.

So for today only, I challenge you to go w/o refined or artificial sugars. A little honey or agave or fruit is fine to sweeten things. No wheat and no processed foods especially meat.

Set out a bowl of evening nibbles. This could include almonds, sunflower seeds, baby carrots, berries, celery, sliced bell peppers.

Make sure you have dinner before 7pm.

I will do the same thing with you because I need to break this plateau. I may not be overeating, but I am not having enough "diet" days to offset the big emotional eating blunder on the fourth.

I am also halving my oatmeal/yogurt treat. It may be healthy, but it carries as many calories as a bowl of ice cream. I was using it for my evening meal, but obviously, I need more veggies and protein.

Put up some strawberry preserves today with DIL for son. Intend to try a sugar free recipe tomorrow for me. Made the most wonderful stir fry in waterless cookware with water only. Celery, red pepper, eggplant, carrots with a dash of kung pao seasoning. Topped with a serving of smoked turkey. Healthy and tasty.

Linda, I hope your friend is OK. 12 hours unplanned. That is a very hard situation and of course very emotional.

You handled the eating part of it very well! So how will you reward yourself for that? Nice relaxing hot shower with smelly lotions and shampoo? Another something that makes you feel good?

Since we packed only good stuff, it was difficult to go wrong. BS was low when we got home, so I ate a cup of fresh strawberries before bed. That seemed to help. Lots of exercise yesterday helped too.

Cathy, sometimes when I copy and paste, I have to try twice. I don't know why .

To include last evening, I went back and edited the "original" message for this week. I'd rather have it in the right time sequence, but I guess what I did will work.

Planning ahead--- hmmm, I am running out of fresh vegetables to juice. the greens don't last very long. The beets and carrots--more substantial things-- stay fresh longer. At least the greens did not rot on me like BJ (before juicing!).

Come on Team !--- We can do this. the week is coming to a close.
Tomorrow morning we will be looking at only 2 more evenings to get through!

I have to be diligent about caring for myself. 100 DAYS OF WEIGHT LOSS is a great way for me to keep focused. Day 1 is July 1, 2017. Build habits to produce success. Most of these habits I have at least tried before but did not sustain. First habit: delay eating by using a timer.

It is already Thursday of this 2nd week. By now controlling evening eating should be paying dividends. I think I lost 3 lbs. The numbers on my digital scale don't show perfectly. I had it stored not flat and something weird happened to the numbers. Only the top half of the numbers show!

My will power got a bit "loose" last night and through the say and evening I had Portuguese sweet bread with Brown and Brummel spread. It was "calling to me." Before that I had a juicer drink. Hopefully that made me at least stop eating bread till the bread was gone.
So last evening was only a emoticon emoticon emoticon .
At least it was not a emoticon emoticon !

I am so happy you guys are finding the team helpful. I'd better be good tonight. Having people try hard themselves and watch me goof off is not a good thing.
I CAN DO THIS! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I liked the vertical set up, but it did not let me copy and paste. Another good day. Went to the nutrition center with GD, ran into a former co-worker. Bought healthy food and stayed wheat and sugar free. No processed foods today.

Each person is different. I quit counting calories and tracking food, it was so stressful. I do weigh in every morning. If the scale is up, I cut portions in half till it is back down again. I also go wheat free and sugar free three days in a row with planned breaks for celebrations etc. Unfortunately, I plateaued since March. Beats gaining though. Our local Biggest loser Challenge starts in August. I hope that will help too. I also think I need to get off my duff and get the kayak out. I need more exercise.

I was thinking weekly weight loss and some teams do the body measurements monthly. I have never been consistent with that but it is a much better way to tell if you are losing than a scale. We have so many factors to our weight WATER, HORMONES, TIME OF THE MONTH ETC. You can fluctuate so much in a matter of minutes. That sometimes is a stresser for people they pay too much attention to the scale some people weigh themselves daily. If I don't go on the Wii which I just take as an idea I weigh myself monthly at the weight loss clinic. When I document on sparkpeople it is from the Wii and I keep my own tab with the weight loss clinic. The last week I have lost 4 lbs. and a bit. It is the first week in awhile I have been diligent and you always lose a lot the first week mostly water.
Better run have a great day. It is another warm one here. Teri

2/7 - 2 hour swim. then dinner at Subway, ordered a foot long, only ate half. Brought half home and refrigerated, so it will go on the picnic tomorrow. Stopped and got strawberries, apples and oranges for picnic. Have a big tub of cut fresh veggies, and we got a case of water. Got veggie crisps for a snack treat, got cool fruit leather for DGD, totally dairy free. Got turkey for her sandwiches, also dairy free. We are so happy, 2 weeks down and no dairy reactions, no hives and no anaphlactic reactions. Yippee. Her mom ( my DD) is ecstatic.

No snacking, no over eating.

Got up late, ate excellent breakfast. Then ate late lunch - cookout with great Sparking foods, son & DIL. DGD, DH & I. Cooked out, lots of raw veggies and fresh fruits too. No one hungry when we left for fireworks and we did not take food. After, DGD said she was hungry and she can get safe food at SubWay, but they were closed, so we stopped at grocery store, got lean turkey breast, dairy free buns, fruit and water, and ate in the car. So even though I ate late, it was not fill in snacking, it was healthy, it was my official 3rd meal, and my BS was 105 this morning. Yeah me.

I sat in "my" chair last evening and sweated out the whole time. good thing Rocky III was on! It
kept my attention. And DH's aide was here tp put him to be for me and the aide is a really nice young guy. We talked about the Rocky movies and it "ate up" some of the evening for me.

I wanted to eat the Chinese food I had gotten for DH-- yes I got some for me too--brown rice and
vegetable soup. But I ate something else for dinner. I wanted vegetables juiced to keep a streak going for that.

I talked to myself continuously about the chinese food. I told myself I already had dinner. I tried to picture my thin self (see my blog). I thought about going back to school in th efall as either the same weight or as a bit thinner.

I did some sparking. Some wonderful people have been contacting me! Others are struggling with this, too.

I asked myself why I wanted to eat the chinese food since I was not at all hungry. (my afternoon was not very healthy).

So-- these 2 days are the ONLY 2 days I have not overeaten in the evening! This goes back years and years!

Miracles do happen. emoticon

Oh--monthly. I thought weekly. Well--monthly is a possibility. I thought my weight would have gone down by now since last week. I guess I have to try a little harder! When in the month would we put the weight loss , Teri?

My one day of (vegetable) juicing seems to have made my fingernails stronger. Is that possible?

Maybe a new topic under Accountability would work.

But I have not lost weight in so long that unless I get going, I'd have nothing to report.... emoticon

I didn't really keep track last week I had more good nights than bad. I was starting as of last night and going to document it under the challenge title. Congrats to all that logged their totals. You know if it was a personal triumph for you and that is all that really matters.
Does anyone want to have a spot document their weight loss on this group or will you just do that with your other groups?? I know some groups do monthly measuring etc. etc. I know this is a team that is for evening eating but we can incorporate all the other components of our journey if you want. I am up for anything. Let us know and we will grow the team accordingly. Thanks Teri

Fireworks are going strong. I can hear them out my window.
Somewhere I missed a day last week and realized it was last night when the internet wasn't working. It was a good day, so my week long list posted below is correct.

Since today is Sunday and not Saturday here is tonight's results.
