Doiliequeen,

Your device hasn't synced since yesterday, which is why what you've done today hasn't shown up yet. Please check to make sure the SparkPeople Connect application is running by locating it in the System Tray on your computer, which is located in the bottom right corner of your screen near the date and time. You may need to click the arrow in that area to view all programs in your System Tray. If you are a Mac user, you can look for the SparkPeople Connect application in your dock near the bottom of your screen.

If the SparkPeople Connect application is installed and running, please check the 3 status indicators on the SyncPoint page and let us know what colors are listed next to each one.

Lin,

Are the 3 status indicators on the SyncPoint page all green? Has anything else changed about your computer since yesterday? (New device plugged into a USB, etc.?) The SyncPoint and device are both green?

Thanks!

Good morning Coach Jen,
Spark Connect is active, is there anything else I can do to make this sync? I take so many steps trying to force it to & nothing happens or it will upload a day or 2, but never current. It's not a very good motivator when it doesn't work.

I'm pretty sure my Spat takes the weekends off - had mine 8 or 9 months, and this happens too often.

My SPAT (the USB part) is lit up green, but it the tracker is showing that I only walked 440 feet (which was from this morning) and I know I've walked a lot more than that. I've refreshed the page several times and still now change. And tracker itself didn't even light up half way. Are there still problems?

I noticed today that my thingy connecting my SPAT and my computer was not lit up. I went to my downloads I've saved and ran the start up program for it again. It was identified and lit up green. I've checked several times in the last few hours and it has not synced. I've tried a couple of times tapping the surface to activate the SPAT and my little lights come on on the SPAT but that hasn't gotten it to sync either. The battery level appears to be at about 60%. Suggestions?

Nope, did not work. I've tried everything and it won't work. On Monday I'll go and buy another battery just to make sure because the one that I replaced the old one with was the extra one that came with it. It may be too old to work.

Wyndy,

Here are a few more things to try:

- Remove the Spark Syncpoint dongle from the USB port (if it is still in it) and
reinsert it. Run the www.sparkpeople.com/setup program again. You can download
the program again if needed from here: www.sparkpeople.com/setup

-If you have more than one USB port on your computer, please try installing the
dongle in each of them and rerunning setup to see if one of those ports works.

- If you have other USB devices plugged in, please unplug them if possible and
try re-installing the Spark then. If it is a keyboard and mouse dongle and you
can't unplug it, then please try putting the SyncPoint dongle and the
keyboard/mouse dongle as far apart as you can. You could even try putting
something between them if you can't get them farther apart.

Let me know if none of that helps.

Jovgrl,

I see a number of walking events on your dashboard yesterday, and since you were within 100 steps (or so) of 10K, that's probably why you got the trophy. If it seems like your device isn't picking up as many steps as you'd expect, it might help to adjust where you're wearing it to get better tracking.

- If you wear on your shoe, make sure it is flat on your laces and parallel to ground with the open end of the clip pointing towards the toe. Also make sure it is firmly clipped and not flopping around - we find its best to try to get it through at least 2-3 laces (which really snugs it down).
-If wearing on your bra, try with clip to the skin and the tracker to the outside. If that doesn’t work, try wearing it on the cross strap (not the shoulder strap) towards the side of the body near the underarm. We have seen this give better results for some body types as it helps to hold the tracker securely to the body. But we would still recommend trying it on the shoe or waist first if possible.
- If you wear on your waist, make sure the open end of the clip is pointing towards the ground. Also try to wear as close the outside of your hip as possible.

Hope that helps,

Coach Jen

I was still having trouble with my tracker syncing, so I un-installed the program, then re-installed. Everything is green, but still not syncing.

Coach Jen,

If I tap the Tracker, I either get nothing - absolutely NO lights at all (which is what happens probably 90% of the time and thus why I re-install the battery) or I'll get just the ONE light (what happens when the battery is installed).

I've done a walk 4 times today that I know is approx 1.5 miles and is usually 3500+ steps. I've also mowed the lawn for about 45 minutes.

I *should* have at least 15K steps with what I've done today. What is frustrating, though, is that I got a trophy for 10K+ steps. My dashboard only shows 9K+. And if I just tapped the Tracker - and got a single light. It just doesn't make any sense to me. :(

It also looks like your battery is getting low. It says it's at 26% right now, but that number reflects your battery level after your last sync. Since your last sync was a week or two ago, it might actually be lower than that. So I would try changing your battery to see if that helps.

Thanks,

Coach Jen

I was able to get my tracker to sync on July 31st but it hasn't sync'd since. I have replaced the battery, re-installed, shaken, stirred, tried a multitude of other things but nothing works. The green lights on the tracker go around, the green light on the bongle kinda of blink so it looks like it's downloading from the tracker but nothing is recording on the site.

L,

The lights on the device do have some rounding involved, so that could be why it's slightly off from what you're seeing on the site.

Jovgrl,

It looks like you have 2 walking events on your dashboard for today (around 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.). What happens if you tap the device 5 times when you get back from your walk? If you shake it for 5-10 seconds, can you force it to sync? You shouldn't have to take the battery out, and even if you do, you won't lose any workout data that's on the device.

We do see a sync again this morning at 6:53:22 AM. However, it doesn't look like the SyncPoint/SparkPeople Connect software has been online since. Can you check again to see if it is still running now?

My tracker tracked my walk just fine this morning but after my last walk I don't know what happened. My tracker has lights all the way around showing I have met my goal but doesn't show on my details. Shows me short on meeting my goal by several hundred steps. What gives.

I've been having issues with mine as well. Before I start a walk, I tap it to make sure it is "registering". Yup....green lights go around. Finish walk.....nothing. No lights, etc. Have to remove the battery, wait and start again. So.....losing all my walking minutes - which doesn't help motivation. :(

Latest today - it shows the morning walk (6:17 walk event with 2904 steps if I click "more") but looking at the dashboard - nope....none of the steps are reflected. :(

It's getting very frustrating. As much as I love Sparkpeople, I'm seriously considering just getting a Fitbit or going back to a regular pedometer. I won't have the motivation of the "trophies", but at least I'll see my progress. :(

When it synced yesterday, it was only thru 8/3 @ 12:00. (??)
Finally synced this morning! I had to reboot my computer, take the dongle out & re-insert & tap Spat 3 times. The dongle was green the entire time & had 3 green status lights.

When I did the download, it didn't give me the option to open or save the download, a window on the bottom left showed the download was in progress & I checked to "open when finished" but nothing happened. I didn't notice what version it was on before. I didn't get the add your spark step either.

Here is the response from the manufacturer after your last post:

It looks like their Spark was actually able to sync some data this morning at around 7:08 AM. This was the first time that it synced any data since 8/2. Do you know if when they did the reinstall the Spark was detected during the "Add your Spark" step?

Thanks!

Can you take a picture of the tracker with the battery in and with it out and email it to me? That way we can send to the manufacturer and see if they can detect any issues that might be causing it to pop out.

You can email it to jen@sparkpeople.com.

Thanks!

Nancy,

Here's what our manufacturer had to say:

I checked this user's Spark tracker and see that it still has not synced new data since the morning of 8/2. It did make contact yesterday, but it appears that their SyncPoint/SparkPeople Connect software has not been online since yesterday afternoon. They are using an earlier version of SparkPeople Connect, so could you have them try updating this to the newest version available on www.sparkpeople.com/setup?

Please let me know if that doesn't help. Thanks!

Jan said, "Here's what the manufacturer had to say:

The next time that this happens, could you have them try shutting down their SparkPeople Connect program instead of rebooting their computer? They can do this by right-clicking the SparkPeople icon in their System Tray (or Mac menu bar) and choosing "Exit" (or Quit for Mac). Then run the program again through the Start Menu (or Mac LaunchPad) to see if this works to get the SyncPoint detected again."

Yes, I'll try that. Thanks for the update. So far, (knocking on wood, throwing salt over my shoulder, locking the door on Murphy) it has stayed lit since I wrote last. It's been doing this for a few months though... it works for a few days and then it's finicky for a few days...on and on.

It looks like your last sync was at 8 p.m. last night. Does your device seem to sync regularly even though the SyncPoint isn't lighting up? Does it ever light up?

My toggle ( thing you plug in the computer ), is not lighting up at all. I took it out several times, and put my foot by the computer. Last registered last night. My girlfriend and I went around the lake for an hour. No steps counted.

It's not an emergency, I was just wondering if the system is down again.

The battery shows it still has power.

Thank you! emoticon emoticon

Nevermind, I now see my steps - it just took quite a while to refresh.

My last sync was around 10 something this morning - nothing after that and I have been walking around the house cleaning quite a bit so I expected a lot more steps!

HH,

It sounds like your battery is not staying in properly for some reason, which is causing your problems. At this point, I don't know there's much else we can suggest unless the manufacturer has your device to be able to look at what's happening. If you would like to return it so they can check it out, please let me know and I can get that process started. You can SparkMail me directly about it.

Nancy,

It looks like your device just synced. If you continue having problems with long delays between syncs, please let me know and I'll see if our manufacturer can look into it further.

I have done that, numerous times. Everything is running. I am still having problems with my battery popping out as well. This morning I had 3 green lights showing, then it turned red. I pushed the battery back in.I went shopping In the afternoon. When I left the house all lights were green. When I finished shopping I had 8 red lights showing. Of course, after I push the battery back in again, I lose my steps. The prong doesn't look bent to me. I will have my Hubby check it.Thank goodness I also was wearing my pedometer.

I had to get a new one. The case would not shut properly. Pieces of plastic fell off inside the tracker.

Nancy,

If you try shaking the tracker for 5-10 seconds near the dongle, can you get it to sync?
