My trigger?, bread and anything related with it, cakes, pastry, crackers. I can go on any diet but I will always have my piece of bread.

Don't let what you can't do get in the way of what you can.

Mine is salt - chips. I love chips. LOVE - the good thing is that when I go shopping (every two weeks) I buy two bags. I have two teenagers so by the time I get home the next day - lucky if I get one or two servings. Guess that's good because if not. . .

Here I go again!

Triggers? Cookies, cakes, pastries. I just let my little man get a cookie from the grocery store bakery yesterday and I had to work really hard to not get a doughnut or cupcake myself but I was strong.I do find that ifI try to completely eliminate sweets thought that I end up feeling deprived and I get into the "I deserve it" mindset and go overboard. My mantra this time around is "moderation"

All good ideas.

What is your trigger food?

i can't bring more than one Ben and Jerry's pints of ice cream in. I love everything but the kitchen sink. Actually anything with chocolate in it. If I can just eat one on grocery day, I try to do that. We try not to bring a bunch of snacks home.

I have been basically counting calories and moving more and that's about it. I don't eat much red meat (although I did have the Roma Steak at Applebees yesterday) but I have a big sweet tooth. I found a lot of inspiration in a SP member that has started her own blog called "Runs For Cookies" and her whole theory has been to not do anything to lose weight that she wouldn't be willing to do forever to maintain the weight loss. She also talks about eating food for two reasons- to feed your body and to feed your soul. I figure that if, once in a while, I want a cookie or a small cup of ice cream and it makes me happy then I can do that. I just try to make sure that the large majority of my food is quality and that my food for my soul is still within my daily range.

Are you following a set diet or just counting calories and carbs?

I was just eating fish for meat along with counting calories and carbs but when hubby was in the nursing home, I ate with him and believe me it is not diet friendly. they had a lot of noodle casseroles, lasagna, spaghetti, hamburgers etc. Not very many salads or veggies.
Now I am trying to stay off wheat and eat grapefruit every morning. I was trying to do the wheat belly diet but you can't have any starchy veggies and I love corn and some potatoes. You are supposed to eat beans every day too and that is hard on my stomach . I know you are supposed to gradually add gassy foods and I was not doing that great so now I am just trying to stay off of bread. In April, when I get my computer back and can access the sp menu am going to try that. Before I did not have enough money for that many groceries but will have a little more so going to give it a try. A lot of people have lost a lot of weight on it.

We don't have sidewalks either. I think it would be more fun to walk in the country because there would be more nature to see. Although there are deer tracks in the snow in the morning and sometimes in the spring and summer if there is mud. We also see bunnies off and on but not as many as when we first moved in.

I need to walk more. I let myself get sedentary then when I was on sp...I could walk more and did, what I call, the booty, hippy shake and lost 15 inches from that. But these last four months without sp and all hubby's health problems, I gained it back. he was in a nursing home for 6 weeks and I was there from about 8:30 in the morning until 8:30 at night and stayed in town at my daughters at night 5 nights a week and went home for 1 or 2 so not much time to excercise or walk. We sat and played games all day in the nursing home.

So now I need to get myself going again.

I LOVE to walk, have since I was a teen. Now that we live in the country with gravel roads I find I don't walk as much as I would like. We have a mowed grass trail around our property, and my little kids are old enough now that we don't need strollers anymore. However, my biggest challenge is stopping constantly while everyone explores nature. Yes, great for them, but I get frustrated that I can't just "go"... I do more walking around the track at the gym than I do outside - sad, but true. I love the country, but I miss sidewalks!

Do you do a lot of walking?
Walking can help tone your body and lose weight. It is so good for you. I saw on the news yesterday there is a new disease called the sitting disease. I didn't watch much but get the idea it is from not moving . Our bodies are meant to be flexible. I let myself go these last 4 months since not having the support of my sp friends and teams. now I am trying to get back into the habit of walking more.

Do you walk more inside or out?

I walk more inside around the circle of my living room, dining room and kitchen and up and down the long hallway. We don't have a sidewalk where I live , just streets. Some people do walk the streets because during the day there isn't much traffic but sometimes I get a little off balance...not often but unless someone is walking with me or sitting outside in case, I walk inside.
