I am starting a food journal. The Writing Diet by Julia Cameron has inspired this.

I decided to just buy a fitness journal this time and see how it does. So far so good. I do not have to rewrite things. Just fill in the squared with info. Much better fitness journal. I usually buy an art book and write from hand into lines and squares. I still love my bible journal and just finished one for the upcoming month of October. I will make another one just because I love doing it

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

I am readying to make another bible journal. I have decoupaged the front of my fitness journal. I am thinking that see it will help me to use the fitness journal. I love journaling in my devotionals.

I really need to get my may journal going for my fitness and health. I mainly journal what I ate etc. for health sake. I am not the blog person. As for as feelings stuff. I do that in my bible journaling. I am always too afraid that my personal thoughts may fall into the wrong hands. But nothing extremely intimate goes in there. I speak to God on such things. He knows me already lol.

So I have a confession, lol. I am not a daily journaler, nor will I ever be.

But I've picked up a little inspiration from your group here. I was so happy with my Valentine's blog post here on Spark today, I decided to resurrect my wordpress journal and also post it there. Other than one 2017 post, I haven't posted an entry there since 2015. Time flies, lol.

I also quickly wrapped up a couple posts that had been sitting in the drafts folder all this time, and posted those as well before the new one. They were "good enough" - I don't know why I make everything so complicated, lol.

I'm writing a novel, on the backs of envelopes and discarded pieces of paper.

Totally agree with the 30 minutes thinking time that access mentioned. Started a BuJo recently and that was one of my daily tasks. When I say BuJo I mean a really simple one - like just a grid of daily tasks and whether I did them or not, showing one weeks tasks on one page. I also sometimes just write what I'm thinking, but tend to write so much that I never re-read it. I've found re-reading journaled stuff deeply healing on occasions. Would love to be able to do this as a regular thing...

Earthseame - sounds like me and hubby - only I'm the one who "can sense he's deeply unavailable"...? I need to sort this out. I'm working on it. Trying to give up snacking (which I do on these occasions when hubby disappears into his office). It seems an automatic response to being left alone. Using James Clear's book "Atomic Habits" to try and overcome.

I tried to write a journal entry on Saturday morning, but my husband kept interrupting. It's like he can sense that I'm deeply unavailable when I'm writing. Maybe I can fit one in while he's busy in the kitchen making food for the Superbowl potluck later today. It's all food that I can have anyway. :)

What little I read on Bullet Journal , It seems pretty complicated. I will keep reading about it , but don't know if I want something that elaborate.

I did find these cute little note books on Amazon , that I like to write and draw my upcoming projects on. I would buy those again.

I started off with Artist "Morning Pages", where you write 3 pages of whatever pops into your mind. I found that helpful. Now I am getting interested in Bullet Journalling , but I don;t understand it yet as I have not read up on it as yet. I keep all kinds of list so I guess you could say I love to write. LOL

I like to journal.. A former boss of mine made us take 30 min day at least to just sit and think, and jot down thoughts; really any thoughts. From work stuff to what we wanted to make for dinner. He used say that with as busy as people are, no one takes enough or thinks they have enough time to just take at least 30 or minutes to themselves.. Its harder for me that I thought it would be.. but I just have to commit to it. 2019 here we come

I find that spending time on SparkPeople correlates to how well I do in losing weight. The more points I get, the more weight I lose. It's sort of like magic. It doesn't cut into my journaling time since I have one specific time each day that I journal in. It's become so much of a habit I can't journal any other times.

After a one year dry period, I am up and going again.

I sometimes break off from journal writing. I don't worry about it or pressure myself. I just go back when I'm ready.

I have been good about writing something every day...for those who don't know I started my journal as a continuation of my 'gratitude jar' : Write SOMETHING positive every day just before bed. Two years ago I moved to a journal hoping that I would write more. Most days I do, but lately I've been so upset with myself for so many reasons that I tend to throw one short sentence in, a statement of FACT that may be positive, but doesn't delve deeper into the emotions at all. So, for what it's worth, that is on my plan for next year. This journal was meant to help me be more positive, to look for the positive, to record the positive. Now it must go beyond to help me live my positive. ANd if that means sometimes writing out the negative, then so be it.
Sorry. Didn't know I had all that in me.

Hello!

I treated myself to a diary today, and hope to set aside a few minutes a day to start writing.

I think it is normal to go off track at this time of the year. SP has a great article with tips to get back on track. You can access it through the main Spark page or through my blog posted today.

I am on a BLC too.

I see from my last post it is very quiet here. So I will talk to myself a for a little while until.........I notice my meal planning is non existent and my exercise is suffering. Hopefully Friday when the BLC starts I can get back on target with this. Things that are going great is my spiritual time. Working toward all areas improving. I made a exercise calendar so I can visually see how this goes.

I just got my journal finished partially of course September is not over. I have planned up until 21 of this month. I am not into all the fancy paper, stickers and special pens. That all can grow expensive. So far so good.

Lets just say I am new to journaling. I saw some info on youtube about it. I will jot down food, exercise meds/vitamins spiritual etc. Planning to start collection weekend. I did not buy the fancy journals I see and hear of. I am on a tight budget. I brought a regular journal from walmart. I must say the love sticker I use when I hit a target. My gratitude will tie into the spiritual part of my journal

Hi there emoticon My daily journal is a two day spread that includes a section on gratitude, affirmations, my food, water, vitamin intake, my activity, a quick rate the day, and a wrap up of what went well and what ill do better tomorrow.

I also have a number of collections and trackers. I'm going to try to implement the Miracle Morning Life Savers practices each day in a July. If you aren't familiar, you can Google it.

My journaling is just starting. I make notes on Spark People through the nutrition tracker.

I bought a journal to start writing in bed, as that is where most of my thoughts that I'd like to write down come.

I used to journal daily, and the journal was also a sort of art journal too. I will just let whatever come to me come in whatever form it comes. lol!

Thanks for sharing what is going on with you.

Share how your journaling is going...

I am getting back into journaling. I keep a daily planner but it only has a page a day format. That is mainly like a list journal, appointments, events, things to keep track of Bible verses, positive thought of the day etc...I opened a new grid style Moleskine so that is helping a great deal with Freewriting. Practise with writing takes time so I am able to get back into writing 4-5 great pages a day. I seem to do better when I have a quiet prayer session and walk early in the morning with my writing.

Does anyone journal about their weight-loss? Or do you just use SparkPeople?

I really don't journal about my weight loss because I am at goal weight and maintenance. I have ingrained habits like I drink tons of water in a day and I track my food so I don't need to separately journal it. Unless I am having digestion issues I need to uncover and correct immediately. I also track my sleep because I have insomnia issues from time to time and I need to know what is causing all the disturbances in my routine. I still track my food and water though so I can see if I need to correct any issues like not eating enough, needing to drink more water, eating better etc...I also keep track of my Strength Training so that I can see where I am at with that discipline!

Does the change in season affect your writing in any way?

When it is spring or summer then my writing seems to come across as more positive for me since the weather is nicer and the sun has me happy. I think I am okay in the fall but from November-March it can be a little more difficult in terms of being positive and sharp in my writings. Working on changing that outlook and negative. However, negative can be helpful for my writing so I have to have balance really.

Just started yesterday to write down what I eat and what exercise I do, plus any weight/fitness relevant thoughts. Things that went wrong, what I am doing about it, things I might want to change at some point, etc.

I mostly use SparkPeople for tracking nutrition and fitness, although as some talk of my well-being and overall health creeps into my journals I guess I do put more of my emotional aspects in my journal.

I do journal about my weight-loss..the struggles I have between knowing what to do and doing it..it helps me not only understand my conflicts about eating right and loving myself enough to do it but also how to help.. I do a lot of work with my inner child who was abused and neglected and the only comfort she was found was in food..especially sugar and sweets

I wrote in my journal often and long during the last six months because I had a lot to think about. I'm entering a more relaxed phase of life and I'm writing less. I miss it!

Morning pages (3 pages of free write) is one of THE best things I do for myself. I don't use it for my actual writing, but it helps with my focus, and getting the negative thoughts out of my head. The days I don't do it, I feel tilted. Like today ////

I need to get back to morning pages and journaling and art journaling. Doing morning pages helps clear the cobwebs out. Art journaling always makes me feel like I've accomplished something and journaling keeps me thinking. Somehow I've dropped all three in the last few months and it really shows in my life. I do better when I write regularly.

Sometimes I'll turn to a blank page and give myself the task of being intentionally messy with some art or to write badly and without correction.

Sometimes I get blocked when I think about journaling. It's almost as though I feel I'll mess it up somehow though really the only way to mess it up is not do it, right? emoticon

Currently it's nonexistent. :/ I have such great things I think of to write (and not so great when I want to vent) and things I'd like to create/draw, but for some reason I'm not doing it. Call it laziness, call it depression... I dunno, but I would like to get myself back into it!
