I have spine damage, which causes sciatica, vertigo, and anxiety, which all combine to keep me awake a lot. I can go to sleep, but if I wake up, I seldom sleep again.

I have non-24 hour sleep/wake phayse syndrome, which is because I'm almost totally blind. As a pre-teen and teenager, I had delayed sleep phase syndrome, so I guess this is just a new evolution of sleep problems.

I also have bladder urgency. When I have to go, I have to go. This means I wake up in the middle of the night (sometimes repeatedly) to go to the bathroom. I can't hold my bladder overnight.

So that's wwhat keeps me up. I sleep better during the day then I do at night, especially with sunshine streaming down on me. I sleep with 68 degree temperature in the room, and I'm often sleeping on a sheet-covered sofa because my husband has a whole other sleep problem: third shift sleep syndrome. Means he's up until like 2 or 3 AM, and then he sleeps from then until noon (or sometimes later). So when I want to sleep, he wants to read an audio book or play a game on his iPad (with sound effects) or watch television. It gets frustrating, but I've gotten comfortable with sleeping on the sofa.

Later folks!

Love to the World ~Jewel

My legs do not pain as much as before so I sleep better and I make sure I eat a small snack 2 hours before bed so I do not wake up in the middle of the night hungry.

I have pleurisy, 2 types of anemia, macrocytic anemia, Iron deficiency anemia, from blood transfusions with wrong antibodies, causes blood to replace daily instead of 100 days, chronic pneumonia, pleurisy, chronic kidney disease, a partially collapsed lung, low blood pressure & blood clots in both lungs for 3 years. Now formed scar tissue.I am 56 years old. I had cervical cancer 6 years ago, no signs last 4 years as well. I have new blood clots now,2019.I am on P.S.T. time zone.

I have pain in my legs from the knees up that has lasted for 6 months when I lie down day or night. It gets worse as the time goes on. I will see my Dr. and ask him to test me to see what is wrong.

Last night, I didn't eat enough. Hoping going to the middle of my range instead of not even being there will help matters. Linked my Fitbit back up to it as well. I must remind myself that losing slower than everyone else is nothing to be ashamed of, even though I feel like a failure.

Lovely LJS, My boyfriend also stays up very late but he plugs headphones into the TV and watches while playing with his computer which is his addiction. We both like to have our space so it works for us to have different sleep habits. I get to have my quiet time alone in the mornings and he likes to have time to himself in the evenings. Stand up for your rights to keep the hours you want. We each have different biological clocks and sometimes they don't match. You will feel better during the day if you keep the hours that are most comfortable for you.

if I let myself, I'll sleep in the whole day. I'm depressed.
Stress over tomorrow can keep me up all night, worrying how I'm gonna cope with it, if I'm gonna cope with it. I have very vivid dreams that I can't tell apart from reality; if the days were no different to nights I'd probably couldn't. these dreams make my head hazy and I always feel I have forgotten something I shouldn't have.
Stress also makes me feel I haven't slept all night, no matter how much I've slept. Of course, I also suffer from hypothyroism, so maybe stress isn't the only one to blame here.
And I can never, never, never get up when the alarm clock rings. I just drift away from the sound till it stops ringing. When trying to put your life in order, this is the hardest battle you have to give; to actually get up when you ought to get up early in the mornings.

I'm doing a 21 days no binge streak. FOR ME, it's been TREMENDOUSLY helpful to be accountable to other people and to compete against myself. Please join us if you think it'll work for you too: www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_mes

@PBRINEGAR04 - I get that too sometimes. I'll have no trouble falling asleep, but I'm up in a few hours with things on my mind, or I wake up a dozen times.

I am married to a man who stays up to the wee morning hours on the computer, sometimes job searching, sometimes gaming with teenage sons, when he is attending online school, doing homework, blogging with classmates about homework assignments, sometimes just surfing the net. HE IS LIKE A KID, SO AFRAID HE WILL MISS OUT ON SOMTHING WHILE HE SLEEPS.. And he gets grumpy when I go to bed before midnight, or sleep in past 7am. In the beginning it was the night shift at work...but even then he only slept for about 5 hours at a time. It has evolved from working to reading the newspaper to television to Computer/internet stuff that kept him up into the wee hours of the night. So I know it has more to do with him than technology....Married to him for 37 years. I have at times, established for myself set regular bedtimes between 9-10pm...with wake up times between 6-7am, and added afternoon naps on the advise of my doctors. While enduring his complaints, put down, and coarse joking about me needing my beauty sleep. Some how he thinks My bio-clock should somehow adjust to his...because we are married and I am his wife...and am to yield and submit to him as my husband. It hasn't... I am a morning/day person I need the sunshine and bright lights to keep focused, alert and energized. He is an afternoon/night person. This I have come to realize and accept.. I am still waiting for him to catch up in comprehension and understanding.

I CAN DO ALL THINGS WITH GOD! ...lovelyljs

I can't really say, I have had sleep apnea for over 20 yrs. Some times I can sleep and others times none. I have been able to sleep a lot more than normal because I switch to a form mattress.

What's your sleep problem(s)? Medical? Psychological? Stress based?

I'm bipolar type 2, and have anxiety disorders. Being on the right medications has helped but I still have problems here and there. Especially around that time of the month, my meds pretty much crap out during that time and my emotions, and sleeping issues act up again.
