Thanks for sharing it Jeanne!

Jeanne, don't worry about people telling you that you eat too many eggs. My mum's told me this before also. I probably eat 12 - 14 eggs a week done various ways for different recipes etc. and yes the whole egg as well. Yes mine are fried sometimes but like you said I just fry mine in water no oil at all.

I'm not much of cook and I've tried numerous times to make the perfect poached egg so as not to have the oil. In the end with many failures lol I came up with the idea of cooking the egg like a fried egg but only in water lol Sounds like we are similar in many ways.

I think the intermittent fasting so far day 1 yesterday is good for me. I'm down a wee bit in weight this morning.

I'm not one to keep to any calorie range don't really believe that whole calories in calories out thing.

Here's something great and interesting on that topic I came across that someone shared in the SP message boards:

idmprogram.com/first-law-thermodynam
ic
s-irrelevant/

I just love the feedback that the nutrition tracker gives me at the end of the day. It's the only food tracker I've seen, heard of or found that actually gives good proper feedback after the days tracking has finished.

I'm also not a fan of a low fat diet. Full proper healthy fats all the way for me.

Keep us posted, Paula. It will be interesting to see how it goes.

For me, carb intake can kick my body off balance quickly! Even good carbs do it to me. But, I have a family in which diabetes runs rampant. So, I suspect there is a genetic component that predisposes us to challenges with carbohydrate metabolism. Healthy fat and adequate protein are my friends. I've never had issues with lipid panel results. Ever!

People have told me so many times over the course of my life that I eat too many eggs and too much fat. I'm typically eating 7 - 14+ eggs per week. The entire egg. I do not use egg replacement or egg white products. And, more often than not the egg is made with some sort of oil added.

A niece showed me years ago how to fry an egg along with some water and oil. It results in this hybrid fried / poached type of egg that I really like. The technique may have a special name. If it does, I don't know it. A cook, I am not!

Good luck with your experiment of one! I find our journeys SO interesting! emoticon

Jeanne, you certainly do seem to have it all figured out! I had a look at the Online Hacker's Diet think it's an awesome site but for now I won't be using it as I already am pretty full up with my time. But I really do think it's an awesome site.

Interesting that you noticed at some point a pattern with your carb to protein ratio and inflammation ramping up.

It gives me food for thought.

FOR ME THIS MORNING:

WEIGHT: 58.3

BODY FAT PERCENTAGE: 31.1%

I find my loaded smoothie is 548 calories.

Ingredients

1 small (6" to 6-7/8" long) Banana, fresh
0.13 tsp Ginger Root
2 sprigs Parsley
0.50 tbsp Fresh Mint
0.13 tsp Moringa leaf Powder
1 tbsp Hemp Hearts- raw shelled hemp seeds
0.5 serving Pure Black Seeds (Nigella sativa seed)
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp Flaxseed
1 serving Pureharvest Organic Apple Juice
1 serving Red Red dandelion Leaf
1 stalk, small (5" long) Celery, raw
1 tbsp Lecithin Granules (by TAMOSQUITO)

Nutritional Info

Fat: 16.5g
Carbohydrates: 69.2g
Calories: 547.7
Protein: 12.9g

As I think for me it's important to have those ingredients daily, I add them into a smoothie.

But then I find I'm eating a lot more food and calories that way. Even keeping to NO S Diet Rules if you like.

So what I've decided to do is go back to intermittent fasting with the 16/8 window. So 11.00am will be my loaded smoothie. Then I'll just eat dinner at night and finish before 7.00pm. No food after that. No calorie drinks either after that. Just water or herbal tea.

Now In between 11.00am and dinner if I do start to feel a little bit hungry I may allow myself a piece of fruit or some yogurt.

NO S Dieter's have intermittent fasted before and have eaten a full lunch in between the 11.00am meal and dinner. It's still technically sticking to NO S Rules. But I won't eat unless I really feel the need really really feel the need. If I have tried that glass of water trick, keep busy trick etc.. only after all that will I allow myself a piece of fruit or yogurt.

This will work well in helping me keep the food intake amounts, (calories) down a bit!

Anyhow That's where my weight is and i'm at today.

1399 kcal; 78g fat (48%); 110g carbs (30%); 77g protein (22%); 36g fiber; 1621mg Na

carb:protein = 1.43 which is where I like to see it below 2.00

I don't remember at what point that I noticed a pattern with the carb to protein ratio and inflammation ramping up in my body. But, keeping that ratio below 2.00 seems to really be supporting my efforts to reduce / prevent inflammatory flares.

I'm also going to start adding in my body fat % seeing as I have these Tanita scales that measure that:

WARNING: Now my body fat is not ever where it should be lol but I'm a work in progress and at 53 years old it is not as easy to loose as when I was younger lol

Paula, You're right. We do the best we can, with what we have, where we are. It can be quite a balancing act sometimes. I remember the days spending nights with my parents tending to their needs and putting my own on the back burner. I have no regrets. Like you, I did the best I could at the time.

You do so very well Jeanne. I admire how you get on.

For me it's very difficult not for myself and what I would like to be able to stick to. That's the easy part. It's mainly as I live next door to my mother and she likes to or wants to do certain things and has me roped in with her. Some things which I cannot get out of which does not always allow me to stick to my routine as best as I do try and want to stick to it. Some days it just goes haywire and I just try my best.

I look at it that she is 76 years old and won't live forever. We both moved 6 years or so ago now sold up our homes and brought 2 new four bedroom duplexes with ensuites and walk in robes. That was so we could be next door to each other. Share the driveway. I figured she was not liking to be on her own at night and I was finding I was away from my husband and family staying at her place most nights.

To stop this we both sold up our homes and moved and brought next door to each other.

It's better in that now I don't have to live at her place away from the family nightly. But still she likes me to do a lot with her or is needy (not needy being older she's always been that way lol).

I find it easier to keep the peace and go along with her wants and needs and just do the best I can.

I figure she won't be around for ever and there'll come a time when I wish I could go next door and have a green tea with her and visa versa.

Anyhow this was my rant explaining why I am not always strict with my goals and plans.

I just do the best I can in a sometimes difficult situation. Funny thing is she tries to be so helpful and supportive of me and what I do. But it's always her way or the highway when it comes to what she wants to do most of the time.

Now on to this morning weight at weigh in 58.3 kg

There are a couple of online weight trending tools that I use.

Weight Grapher
www.weightgrapher.com/

Here's my most recent monthly graph from Weight Grapher:

And, here's a link for The Hacker's Diet Online:

www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/on
line/hdo.h
tml

Apparently, there's a book for The Hacker's Diet. I've not read it. I simply use the weight tracking and analysis tool because I like it.

That sounds awesome I might have to check that Hackers Diet Online out. Thanks Jeanne.

Today's weight: 58.7 kg For me I'd be happy to be down at 55 kg and maintain. But my main overall aim is never let myself get over 60 kg and to make every meal count with as much healthy micro nutrient food as is possible on my plate.
You're doing well Jeanne. That's awesome.

I have been in weight maintenance since June 2014. I'll do my best to begin logging weekly weigh in on Sundays. So, I'll be back with tomorrow's weigh in.

58.8 kg this morning

Up a little due to an "S" couple of days lol I'll do better be more mindful next weekend now that I am fully getting the hang of this NO S Diet way of living.

Maybe you could streak with a goal set here in S/P for being dry as you like to call it Richard. I've decided no Alcohol at all is best for me even though I'm not a huge drinker at all. I've decided 2 small bailey's with ice or 2 small glasses of muscato wine on the weekends is no go anymore.

If out I'll try myself to having a lemon lime and bitters (while the bitters is still slight alcohol) I'll take it as okay.

I think overall it's better for our health long term. I can do without it if I find a substitute and I think lemon, lime and bitters will be it for me.

don't beat yourself up over it! Think of your long term health goals overall. Once you get into an sustainable eating and drinking pattern for life you won't want this anymore (unless it's a huge problem for you of course which then you may need a different approach).

emoticon we just have find something that works for the long haul emoticon it's not always easy but if we really do want it deep down inside of us emoticon emoticon
