My husband Ian has had his job stop all overtime for at least a month. My guess the way the economy is that it'll be longer and they are just not saying to scare anyone lol

His extra overtime gave us extra to add to our emergency fund and our holiday fund. But we're very fortunate in that we own our house outright and have been debt free of that a few years now.

Not owning money to anyone is a liberating feeling. No credit card debt is great! Debt free as a whole is great.

I enjoy keeping track of our finances. So glad I do as now that Ian has no more overtime. He always did a lot, 10 hour week days and Saturday mornings. We'll be fine and able to survive on less income because of the way I can manage our finances. emoticon on that one.

I've updated on my weight and body fat percentage in the weekly team weigh-in.

How is everyone else going?

Here's to a great Wednesday.

My weight being slightly up yesterday I put down to this:

We usually have fish and chips as takeaway night off cooking on Sunday which was yesterday for us. I put the weight being up due to eating 4 crumbed sea scallops and half a serve of chips.

Might have to change Sunday night to making it at home instead of this takeaway. It's something doable. I just get lazy come Sunday night and look forward to the break off cooking.

All food for thought for me.

On another note I am very grateful for making better use of my diary. I now have my whole week organised and planned out properly. FLY LADY (Marla) would be very proud of me! LOL

I'm also enjoying decluttering one thing per day. it's helping keep our home more clean, organised and clutter free. This all helps us then for all other areas in our home as it has that flow on effect!

We have a friend that loves Chinese food and nearly every time we dine out with them it is a Chinese restaurant. He ALWAYS uses his chopsticks. And, yes, the rest of use clean our plates quicker than he does.

Nice tip.

Here's a tip I thought I would share that some maybe like me and never thought of. I have some at home so will start trying this tonight.

Good practice anyhow when I have to use them next may when we holiday in China for 12 days.

Throw Out Your Forks
how to lose body fat - chopsticks

“While it’s far from conventional, replacing your fork with chopsticks is a simple way to slow down the eating process, which will help you take in less food,” says celebrity personal trainer and diet expert Jay Cardiello. “It takes approximately 20 minutes for your brain to register if you’re full, and using a fork is an easy way to overload your stomach. Using chopsticks will help you slow down.”

Love the strategies you're employing. I also use a wider calorie range than Spark recommends. It works for me. And, even with the wider range, there are instances that I go outside of it both under and over. It's the averages over time that I watch and that have the most meaning for me. I really like that I can use the Spark Nutrition Tracker and get reports. Both the free version and premium version of Spark have nutrition reports available to support our efforts.

Like your mum, I am a black coffee drinker. Although, there are times that I can go months or years without drinking it. I happen to be in another period where I've not had coffee consistently for months now. I occasionally have a cup; but, it has not been a daily thing for me like it can be.

Keep up the good work. It sounds like you're doing a good job of it.

Starting tomorrow (i know odd time being a Friday here tomorrow) but I feel no time like the present right? I will be tracking calories again. I think it's a tool I can use especially as I like the report you get at the end of each day.

I'll be tracking a little differently though. In order to help me get serious and not slap happy so to speak with portion sizes. This probably won't make any sense what so ever to anyone else other than myself.

But I will be allowing myself a bigger calorie range than the SP suggested. Not so much so I am allowed to eat more or anything. It's more a mind thing for me and will help keep me consistent with tracking and portion control. Hard to explain but believe me it will work for me.

By doing that it will be something doable and stick to able for the long haul. As this is not a diet but a long term eating plan and lifestyle for life.

NO S is great as it is simple and easy to follow which is good.

Now I just have to find another way as well as tracking that will help me stick to the correct portion sizes. All the usual like use a smaller plate etc. is great but never works for me long term. i'm working on it and it will happen it's just will take a bit of working out. Working out something that will work for me for the long haul.

I have a white board in the kitchen where I have put the 3 "NO S" rules No snacks, No sweets, No Seconds plus a quote and 7 squares where I can mark off my water intake for the day with a white board marker. Sometime when i remember I'll take a photo and post it so you can see.

My mum drinks her coffee black (hates milk) I can drink black coffee but prefer it with milk no sugar or sweeteners of any kind. But am feeling much better now days since doing without it.

I'm also going to allow myself in my mind only to eat seconds - I have a strategy that I think will work. Allow myself to eat seconds after my meal of correct portion sizes but only after I have set my timer for 20 minutes. After this I will definitely no longer want seconds and be onto doing something else anyhow. So I'll never actually eat seconds and will keep to correct portion size at each meal. This mental trick will work for sure and is doable long term.

It's all a process all a part of trying to lead a Healthy Holistic Lifestyle one of which I think i'm doing okay at!

Happy to hear the No S is supporting you and well done breaking through the coffee withdrawal.

I have to wonder about differences in genetics. I drink coffee off and on. I can pick it up and put it down for months or even years at a time and have not experienced withdrawals. I wonder whether it has something to do with genetics, how I drink my coffee (black) and the fact that I don't drink much of it.

I have experienced caffeine jitters with too much of it. I'm at risk for that type of an experience if I dine out for breakfast with friends that the wait staff is freely pouring coffee and I fall into mindless coffee drinking. Thankfully, such experiences have been few and far between. Don't like that feeling at all.

Here's looking forward to a NO week ahead.

No S Diet

There are 3 rules & 1 exception: No Snacks, No Sweets, & No Seconds. This is what it feels like to be FREE! FREEdom from diet books, counting, weighing, measuring, & tracking. The exception being on days that start with "S".

Feeling great without my coffee don't miss it really. Herbal teas and my hot chocolate (no sugar)as per how I make it below really goes well along with water and mineral water.

Have a super successful week ahead and when the going get's tough baby steps and think about your next small weight goal along the way to that end weight goal.

No headache today from being coffee free think I'm over the withdrawals now which is awesome.

I've done it!

Had some greens organic and black 85% dark chocolate last night after dinner with a homemade hot chocolate seeing as it was an "S" day.

For the hot chocolate I just boiled the kettle put a teaspoon of organic cacao in my mug filled it half way with boiling water. Then I put some organic full cream milk into my milk jug and made cappcucino type froth in my coffee machine with the milk and added it to the hot chocolate. No Sugar at all worked well and I really enjoyed it!

Off the computer soon to get some things done in the garden and elsewhere.

Enjoy your weekend all.

Slight headache with No Coffee this morning but other than that No Coffee is going well and a huge success for me. Headaches will very quickly now become a thing of the past.

I messed up though yesterday in that i must fess up I did not have my smoothie in the morning as I woke up late. So no time to have it. Skipped breakfast altogether. Other than this minor mess up did well.

Never mind today is a new day and I started the 21 day weight loss meditation challenge yesterday. Only had time to get to it last night. It was awesome. I think I'm really going to enjoy them.

Great for mindfulness and meditation overall in all areas of our life.

I'm doing well on No S Plan. It's seems to just slot in nicely with my eating plan and lifestyle.

I'm even finding it easy now not having my dark chocolate at night that I was having about 3 or so squares of nightly after dinner with my herbal tea. Now just my Lemongrass Lime and ginger Tea seems to be enough. With No S one of them is No Snacks and my dark chocolate at night after washing up the dishes was a snack of sorts even though a relatively healthy one still a snack.

With my no coffee so far so good no real bad side effects or withdrawal symptoms like last time. and i'm finding it relatively easy thus far day 2 and a half into it.

I'm planning now for my next challenge after the 21 day meditation challenge for weight loss is over. What I'm planning to do is not to go less carbs as such just to avoid the carbs in wheat avoid wheat.

Yes I'll still eat carbs as in Bread BUT...............it'll be my organic oat sourdough bread that has no wheat. Yes I'll still have rice but just no wheat products at all. This will be completely doable for me.

But I'll get over this No Coffee challenge and the 21 day weight loss meditation challenge first then start this so as to ease into into it a bit while be kind on myself without too much no go stuff to quickly.

emoticon it's all about willpower, persistence and consistency is the key.

It's also about wanting to create the best version of me I can be and also about being able to live a long fulfilling life. One that is in a healthy me.

If we want something bad enough we can do it we just have to find a way that works for us and I've found it for me. emoticon Baby steps and we can all get there.

I'm off out grocery shopping today. Have an extra awesome and successful day all.

How are you going Richard with your No Snacks, No Sweets and No Seconds? Are you doing this only 5 times per week or 7 days per week?

What are you including as no sweets?

I did alright out Saturday night at dinner had 1 glass of muscato wine. No desert but did have a piece of garlic bread before my calamari meal came out. (which I did not eat all it was too big a portion size and I was full half way through).

So far I'm doing well on No S and it's so user friendly with my lifestyle which is so awesome and unlike most other diets / eating plans I've ever come across.

Thought I would change daily chat to CHAT / CHECK-IN - REPORT SUCCESSES OR FAILURES

figured it could be one area for us all to chat if we wish but also an area where we can check-in regularly and update each other on our successes or failures.

This I feel will help clean up the team and keep it to one area.

Hope we are all happy with this change. emoticon
