Thanks. Someone mentioned ginger is really good for you. I am wondering what you can add ginger too? Do you use the ginger root?

Has anyone ever eaten bulgur? If so, what does it taste like? It is supposed to be one of the better carbs for a person with diabetes.

If your readings are in the acceptable threshold, that his a very healthy range. The brain uses glucose from the carbs we eat. You should be doing just fine.

Dieticians state its 50-65% of your daily intake.
Diabetics are challenged with this component. This accepted percentage has direct impact to our blood sugar level readings/

I suggest you not eat anything that is white. Rice, potatoes, pasta, popcorn, bananas apples, etc.
all of these things are loaded with carb grams.

How does one keep their carb's down to 12 a day? I know cheese, eggs, and meat doesn't count as a carb. Neither does veggies. I still can't keep my carbs down to 12. I need help!

I can do everything through Christ who strengthen me. Phillipians 4:13 I hope you have a Blessed Day! LYL!

LOULOU1790: I don'T know where you are getting many of your carbs from, but if pasta or spaghetti is a big thing for you here are a couple of ideas.

1.Buy a vegetable spiralizer and make zucchini noodles or summer squash noodles and serve them with your favorite spaghetti sauce. Slice zucchini thinly length wise and you can use it like Lazanga noodles.

2. Spaghetti squash can be used like spaghetti with your favorite sauce and or meat and cheese.

These all are delicious alternatives available easily now as summer is still here. Very low on carbs.

CINDATA56 Those totals are after your exercises that you have added into the fitness tracker. Look on a day when you don't have it filled out yet. Today being Friday, look on Saturday's Menu Tracker. Then you'll find out how many calories, carbs, fats, protein and
fiber your suppose to have for each meal. Then it will give you a total! Good luck!!

LOULOU1790 I don't know why the carbs are always so low. I read my labels. I always track all my food first and I follow the food guidelines but I guess I need to pick foods with higher carbs. I added 1 cup of spinach and went over the Vit A goal. LOL! I can't win. As long as I keep my sodium and calories down, that is ok with me. I can't seem to get it all right, all at the same time. BUT!!
I am still losing weight and that is my major goal here. You have a great day! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I was going below the 198 carbs. But here lately I haven't been able to. Even today I'm having salads at lunch & supper, but I'm having a lean cuisine pizza for supper & that has a
lot of carbs. But I'm still down 42 lbs. I'll keep trying to lower them again tomorrow. Have a Super & Blessed Saturday! Linda! emoticon

Welcome. The nutritionals listed on the Diabetes diet plans follow the guidelines set by the American Diabetes Association. If your nutrition tracker is set for the diabetes diet, you can't change the goal for carbs.

But, if you select no diet plan, you can adjust your nutritional goals.

A lot of people eat fewer carbs, and increase their protein and/or fat. But it depends on your personal situation, medication, etc.

If you haven't done so already, you should ask your doctor for a referral to a diabetes educator, or a nutritionist who specializes in diabetes.

Looking at the Nutrition Menu Plan and I'm finding it to be higher in carbs than I thought it should be. I understand I'm being given more on days when I exercise, but the carb totals are 2-3 times higher than protein. Plus, for example, they give me 2200 calories to eat based on my burning 1090 calories for a day leaving 1110 calories for the day--how am I losing weight eating so many calories? Confused....
