Don't do it! I ruined my last watch this way! Water is fine, but shampoo, soap and other body products can damage the touch screen and make your watch useless! I did not realize this and used to wash it with soap and even used disinfectant wipes on the screen. The touch screen went non-responsive and I had to get a new watch. :-/ Now I wear mine into the shower, rinse it thoroughly under warm water, and then hang it out on the towel rack before using any shampoo or soap. It was an expensive mistake because it's not covered by warranty if you ruin the screen this way!!!

I take mine off and wash it gently and also add extra attention to my wrist because the watch and band can cause hot spots and rashes if I don't go to the trouble washing my watch and extra washing of my wrist.

I shower with mine. I have the vivofit 3. It's safe for swimming. If I took it off I would be liable to forget it. Besides, I like the fact that when I start going to the water park in the summer I will get to keep track of all my steps. When I used to use my phone to track steps I'd be insanely short from where I was sure I was. We had season passes, so we went a lot to either the amusement park or water park over the summer.

I leave mine on. It gets sweaty and gross when I run, and I work in a preschool so lots of little fingers touch it. I wash it along with the rest of me to keep it germ free. :-) I only take mine off to recharge, and briefly to wash/ dry the band.

I keep mine on when I shower and when I sleep. I'm a problem sleeper and it's my hope that having tracking will help me understand how to lessen the problem. I've only had my Garmin for a few weeks so still getting used to using it.

The reason I got the Garmin vivosmart is because it is waterproof enough for swimming etc, so that I never take it off except to recharge. Works great. I do much walking in the pool.

I take mine every day to shower and I sleep with it on so I can see what my sleep looks like. I am an insomniac. I've been this way since I was very little. My mom said that I never took a nap but she would make me lay down every day.

Ladies you must be high stepping in shower. LOL I have had vivofit 2 for over a year and wear in shower, pool, steam room, etc without a problem. I do not wear it while sleeping due to numbness. I am using smaller band since large one broke and my wrist tends to swell while sleeping.

I have the Vivofit2 and I wear mine when I shower. I've had it for almost a year now and no issues at all with it. As for tracking the steps in the shower? LOL... If I shave my legs it adds almost two hundred steps. It must know how hard we work to be "beautiful"... (thought we could use a chuckle!)

What's funny is that I have done both (shower with it and take it off). I don't take it off when I get in the pool. I have a vivosmart HR.

What prompted my question is that I noticed the device is tracking like 50 (or more) steps when I take a shower; I wasn't sure whether I should count those steps as being legitimate real steps or not.

Since so many others keep it on, then I guess I will not worry about it, just count them as regular steps like any other steps.

Thanks for the responses- I was wondering the same thing on if it is safe to wear in the shower, since I just got mine setup last night and learning to sync and all that is very new compared to my SP tracker. So it would be safe to wear it in the shower? I have the vivofit2. emoticon

I have the vivofit and so far I shower with it, it says it's good to 50m so might as well! No charging needed, it does say not to press buttons when it's wet.
