Sometimes I find that I want to continue eating after a meal even though I know I'm not hungry. It's like my mind wants me to continue chewing. So I have a piece of sugar free gum and that does the trick for me.

This is the last day of the challenge for me and like most participants I've been journaling in a small spiral notebook instead of on the site. I also keep track of my hunger sensations on a scale of 1 to 10. I realized that I seldom truly get hungry or have a growling stomach. We have our meals at pretty much the same time each day (7 am, noon, & 5pm) and so I guess you could say I eat by the clock! I do occasionally have cravings between 3 & 4 in the afternoon and my go to snack is some unsalted dry roasted peanuts with raisins. I always try to include some fat or protein whenever I have a fruit to slow down the digestion of the sugar in the fruit and avoid a sugar spike.

I'm going to continue journaling each day and continue tracking my sugar and other cravings and also note the amount of added sugar I have each day. It's become my morning routine to set up the page for the upcoming day.

I'm also going to continue monitoring this thread. I've read the thread from the start and I want to follow everyone's progress and continue to be motivated and to motivate.

Not eating sugar but having trouble with too much carbs as I have been eating a lot of crackers when taking my pain meds (they upset my stomach). Hopefully my ankle heals soon.

Still eating at least one fresh fruit a day, sometimes more. Sugar cravings have definitely decreased. Yay.

I'm over a week into my self challenge of a fruit a day. Have stayed consistent and even eating 2 fresh fruits some days. I'm not craving sweets as much so I would say that this habit is a keeper.

Keeping up with my fresh fruit a day but had a horrible time last evening eating sweets. I think I am just stressing about my upcoming ankle surgery 1/31. I am determined to listen to my body today and only eat healthy foods when hungry.

As for me I did not eat any sweets yesterday but I had have a busy day trying to get things in order for my new job as an Advocate for Students with Disabilities at the local college in my area. I didn't track what I ate yesterday but I know that I ate a lot of calories.

I have found that getting more protein helps with the sugar cravings. I like greek yogurt as a snack in the am and walnuts in the afternoon.

MRSFIX2007- I too with eating too much sugar and not enough protein. Eating enough protein has always been tough for me. I really need to find a way to get protein into my diet so if you come up with any suggestions could you please let me know. Thank you and maybe we can work on this together!

I'm still not able to log consistently with being postpartum, but I decided to see where I fall on average so I tracked my intake for the day today. It's the sugar. I also need more protein but overall, I am eating more sugar each day than I though. Little doses throughout the day vs one dessert after dinner. So much so that I don't really think about it, it's habit. So now I can me much more mindful of how much sugar I reach for and when. My portions are good, we don't eat out much... it'd just the empty calories from sugar.

Everything can be offered up as a sacrifice. All of this. It can, it will, in the long run benefit not only me, but my family as well. It's a worth-while sacrifice no matter how long it takes. I must look for His glory in all of this.

Good Morning Everyone,

Thursday was a horrible day for me and my sweet tooth. On top of my breakfast, lunch and dinner I ate 1 reese's cup, 2 mini kit kat bars and 8 m&m's emoticon . As I sit here and think back to that day I believe a lot of those poor choices was do to the fact that I was nervous about a job Interview that I had the next day. On a positive note I got the job!! emoticon emoticon

I have been making some poor choices to when I comes to foor sometimes I just get to overwhelmed with am I eating too much or am I eating too little. Hang in there you are doing a great job MOMPOIRIER!

I'm struggling with my food choices. No more sweets around but when I crave something I find my self turning to simple carbs at times other times I do okay with some hot tea. Just have to hang in there.

DBSHAW- you don't necessarily have to do your journaling on this thread it is something that a few of us like to do. Everyone's sweet tooth kicks in overdrive once in awhile (I know mine certainly does haha). Today is a new day and the beauty of that is you can make better choices today since you have recognized that you went a little overboard yesterday. Lots of luck to you!

My sweet tooth kicked in a little yesterday too! I was craving for something sweet so I ate a Reese's cup in the afternoon. Like so many other times I had just eaten lunch and felt like I needed something sweet so I gave in to temptation. I was say my craving was at a 4 between 1-10.

I guess I didn’t realize I was supposed to journal on this thread. I was journaling in my hand written book. Yesterday was a struggle. I don’t usually have a sweet tooth, but for some reason I got into the Lifesavers yesterday and had four servings! That puts my sugar cravings front and center again.

I ate the last of my full size Snicker bars that I got for Christmas yesterday. I was feeling stressed because of my lack of energy due to not feeling good for a while. My sweet tooth kicked in lunch time and from a scale of 1-10 it was a 4.

I keep snack baggies of walnuts/ dried cranberries on hand to grab when I want to snack. If I have to have chocolate - I keep a bar of Lindt's dark chocolate orange on hand and have a square of that (50 cal). I enjoy it slowly with a cup of hot tea.

MOM- that could very well be the case.

My depression was really bad yesterday due to issues with my boyfriend. I did however eat 1 reese's cup and 1 dark chocolate truffle in the afternoon. Because of stress I believe I was stress eating due to the fact that I had eaten the chocolate right after I had eaten my lunch. How did the rest of you do?

I am feeling a little bit guilty this morning because I ate a full size Snickers bar last night. The candy bar has 230 calories in it. My day was going pretty good and I had no sugar cravings at all. My craving hit me an hour after I ate dinner. I was lying on my bed watching TV and I had a sudden urge to have some chocolate. I wasn't hungry but I ate it anyway.

This isn't really sweet tooth related but I really need to get this off my chest. I did a really stupid thing on Sunday and neglected to take my anxiety/depression medication. Well as you suspect that through all of my healthy routines. Yesterday (Monday) was a nightmare for me. I went from feeling angry to depressed all day long. Feeling angry and depressed made feel so bad that I I didn't exercise and I barely ate anything. I was so mad at myself that I was constantly putting myself down the entire day. I don't know why I decided not to take my medication that day but as of yesterday I have been taking my medication regularly again. I really hope that I can get my head clear enough today that I can accomplish something healthy today.

I found it easier to stay away from sugar when i limited the artificial sweeteners also. Has anyone else found that to be true for them?
