In both the homelands of my Grandparents, my name would be Greger. It was a popular name in the middle ages, especially among Christians. In the Greek, it comes from ypnyopios; (Gregorios), meaning to be watchful, alert. As time went on it was associated with flocks and herd, so there are renowned and infamous Gregorys from the 4th century on. haha
I hadn't looked up the Swedish version of my name before, so it came as a pleasant surprise as I could recall my Dad calling me Greger as a young child. I knew we were Scandanavians, but I thought it sounded Scottish (as in MacGregor). So now at 56 I find my Dad had it exactly right, not only in Sverge but in my mother's Norge too. Go figure, eh?
It is my intent to be watchful, paying close attention to ministering to the needs of those of us inside "The Church" -- both spiritual and physical. When I have not been alert, things have gone to pot quickly. My desire is to be alert in prayer and thankfulness, as well my hope for all the Father's Children.
The peace of Christ to you,
your bro,
gregory alan
