Those two will never mix if your in hardcore raiding guild. Casual guild? .. Maybe ... Been through all of it and found that going on your own solo will help you manage your exercise time and your raiding time.

But when I was in the guild I loved talking about my success losing weight. Talking about how much of a work out you had or the ladies I saw at the gym. You know something to talk about because it's what you do. I'm sure most of the time guild chat is dull and nobody talks about anything other then enchants, quests, mats or whatever so talking about exercising can not only help you stay focused with your goals so that you realize what is important to you but you are also probably making an impact on someone else in the guild (your boyfriend) needing to do the same thing. I always like to tell everyone how much I benched that day or how sore I am from the day before of course with a little joke afterwards but whatever works right?

Bottom line, you can't force someone to do what you want but you can surely guide them to the right path by talking about it a lot even in game.

I am fortunate enough to have a treadmill so I strapped a board to the handles and take the laptop on it to farm and other mundane tasks in the morning.

This is quite the idea! I never thought of it... I actually laughed out loud when I first read it, and then I thought...you know...

AM farming is easier than after school when the kiddies are on.

I'm gonna have to get the old laptop whipped into shape (at this point it can't run wow and vista at the same time LOL!)
Thanks for the idea, Beat!

I think it just has to be a priority. I ended up taking about 2 months off from WoW on accident when my g/f started back to school and I assumed full time Mr. Mom duties after work... but in that time I established a pretty good workout routine. I still don't get to raid as much as I would like but I do log plenty of hours in wow just the same. I just make exercise a priority and usually do it in the Morning so I don't get tempted to skip it in the evenings.

I am fortunate enough to have a treadmill so I strapped a board to the handles and take the laptop on it to farm and other mundane tasks in the morning.

But the 10 min exercise breaks in between boss attempts is a good thing too. Especially for some bodyweight resistance moves... you'll probably find that you are much more alert for the rest of the raid too.

Quit trying, start doing!

Thanks for the tips guys! Woah, five nights a week? That's rough. That sounds like a second job! I think two or three nights a week is better. I just joined a new guild, so I'm not sure how often they raid yet. I just wish raids weren't so damn long!

" I also keep reminding everyone that we're going to be 80's for a LONG time...maybe we can slow our progression down some so we're not bored in a year (it's not working, but I'm trying)"

Seriously! I am currently taking a WoW break (which has lasted two weeks so far) because my guild is OBSESSED with progression. We were raiding five nights a week and it was starting to kill my soul!

Habit is habit and not to be flung out of the window by any man, but coaxed downstairs a step at a time.

A time saver I found, and this doesn't work all the time, but, after a raid I would spend a few minuets restocking reagents and repairing, then getting back to the instance and parking there, so the next day when I log in I'm already there and ready to go so I can spend the 15-20 before raid time getting in some exercise.

I've been trying to get a bit of exercise in when people go AFK etc (I don't know about your guild, but someone is always disappearing for ten minutes between fights). If you've got vent you can just have someone give a shout when everyone is back....maybe step back from your chair and jog in place or lift weights. Hide your desk chairs and replace them with exercise balls(my husband would be MAD at me for this so you might want to get him on board first). I also keep reminding everyone that we're going to be 80's for a LONG time...maybe we can slow our progression down some so we're not bored in a year (it's not working, but I'm trying)...so I'm trying to limit raiding to a few days every other week...

You could try if you exercise for 10-15 mins your reward is raiding for an hr. I would think 10-15 mins vs. an hr is well worth it :)
