I agree that it is very inspirational to stop by here and read about everyone's successes. It keeps me determined and motivated. I am 4 days into a streak to stay within calorie limits, do some fitness and check off all my "other goals" each day. I was bit several times by a spider. The dr. said she thought brown recluse but without the dead spider she could not be sure. Meanwhile my foot and calf are really swollen but she gave me medication to take the itch away and help it get better. Not letting it stop me though. emoticon emoticon

It's great to come in here and read these inspiring posts. Keeps me in the 'determination' mood, thanks.

Too hot and humid for me to go outdoors so me and my trustworthy walker will walk the hallways in my apartment building. Where there's a will, there's a way!

Good job on working that gazelle! .... whew!

Okay if you guys want a laugh on me listen to what I did this morning for real...... so we had to have a pest control come out this morning because we've been having a problem with ants this summer.
The guy sprayed around the perimeter of the house and then came back to tell me what he had done saying this:
" Okay I sprayed all around the house and I knocked out a number of webs."
I asked: .." So then ants have webs too?"

He kept a straight face and politely replied , " NO but spiders do."...... emoticon
( Oh yes but of course that is what I meant to say LOL)

WOW! I surprised myself and I did more today that I thought I had. I spend 7 hours at the VA Hospital today, but this morning I did a 44 minutes workout on my Gazelle. Then just before I hit the showers, I did another 17 minutes on the Gazelle. Once I got to the hospital, I mobilized my wheelchair for 11 minutes and then later on for 10 minutes, while I was waiting for my appointments. Now, I know that I had to burn more than 32 calories for 21 minutes of working out because I was using the HIIT method. In fact, the walkers in the hospital told me that they had trouble keeping up with me. Then I also did another 17 minutes on the Gazelle when I got home, along with to seated chair workouts using 4 lb. hand weights. Alas, I will just have some reserves in my workout that I know nothing about and thus a weight loss tomorrow.

Blessings!

Carrie, good for you on getting that really energizing workout in today and I can understand you not doing a traditional workout today since you will be dancing so much tonight! Have loads of fun!

Delisas....... good luck with your circuit training and yoga tonight !
( But after one section of circuit training in yoga if you feel you're taxing yourself with the second you might want to stop because after all one is going to give you all you need for one day )......take care.

Good morning team,

I have been feeling very energized and positive about my new exercise and nutrition changes lately. I did over 80 minutes of exercising yesterday and I feel wonderful about it. I am not planning on doing a "traditional " workout today because I am planning on going to a concert tonight and dancing the night away.

Jen,

I love that you're searching for different avenues to stay healthy. You remind me of my PCP (primary care physician). She has two specialties. 1. Geriatrics and 2. Holistic Medicine. I am a geriatric patient and I love the fact that if she can find an alternative way instead of medication, she will do that and take you off of your medication or not even start one.

Blessings!

I am going to keep up walking as my focus for exercise for today. But I am also taking care of my soul. I have a class that will last an hour... guided meditation. it's wonderful!

I am seeking alternative ways of health and healing... I have started on this journey a bit ago, and I am finding it helpful- to be able to take a pro-active approach... And this is agreeing with me- as I am loving to explore new tools and avenues of healing...

I will be headed to the gym if I can't get a good walk in outside....

I was having a hard time deciding what challenge I wanted to do. I didn't want to do something too out there that would make me quit after doing it once or twice. Wanted something simple and easy. I have decided to jog for 1 minute every day for the next 30 days. It's simple and easily attainable. I will most likely do more than one minute, but If I don't I will still feel accomplished. Maybe I will keep the streak going after the 30 days.

I started making some tweaks to my dietary intake in response to what I've read in "The Plant Paradox" by Steven R. Gundry, MD. I have longstanding autoimmune conditions and my sense is that I still have a smoldering inflammatory fire in need of quenching. I'm working Phase 2 of the program and intend to work it for at least 6 weeks. We shall see how things go.

I have learned so much about what does and does not support my body using the Spark Nutrition Tracker.

So nice to see so many chatting, thank you for sharing your life and ideas

My goals

Focus-update goal-close kitchen after dinner to any thing but low calorie drinks

Fitness & health-today is rest day, the rest of the week I walk from two to three miles in the morning

Fire-write in journal and make motivation collage

Positive force-Spark someone-Have moved my scale to make it easier for our caretaker to weigh herself, she is new to Spark and at the same height and weight I was when I joined. I wish her the best. I put encouraging stickers on the scale..

I did not do good yesterday staying on track, smoked some of my med. weed that I have not done for a week or more. It was a super munchies/binge day. It was to be my IF day so was not happy.
Rule # 1 do not smoke med. on fast day LOL

Hi Team! I've been here for many years and I'm at goal - kind of. I find that as time passes my program keeps getting sloppier. Looks like the Small Goal Commitment Challenge will be a great way for me to jump back on track and refocus.

@ CAROLB147 - I like your attitude! I'm putting 'keep it positive'' and 'don't take myself too seriously' on my daily list.

Happy Saturday y'all.

"My team" (pretty much the only team I've been on until this one) has had a monthly challenge for years. For most of that time it's been a make-your-own challenge. We each decide what we want to work on that month - health, weight, life, food, exercise, whatever - and then post mostly every day about how we did on our goals. It has really helped me stay on track in a lot of areas of my life. I have mostly kept the same goals for several months now, but have added one or two a month for the past few months. They're not big goals, but things that I need to do to be healthy and fit.

I've been writing down 3 small goals daily for years and it really has helped me stay on track (not necessarily weight wise). I can't imagine where I would be if I hadn't been doing this.

I retired from the corporate world 4 years ago and have really been enjoying not having to get up and go to work every day....although I am still an early bird! I have completed one of my bucket list items this spring when my DH and I went to Hawaii for our 50th wedding anniversary (which is in August). I have been in all 50 now and on 2 continents! We love to travel; usually on a Harley trike (gave up the 2 wheel motorcycle a couple of years ago when DH had a hip replaced). I don't drive, just ride on the back and enjoy the scenery.

I have about 30 lbs to lose before I reach goal with WW, and I am looking to get there by the end of the year. I don't take myself too seriously and I think I am a pretty positive person! emoticon

Goals for today are:

1. Write every bite, 64 oz of water (no exercise routine on Saturday or Sunday)
2. WW meeting and weigh in. (I normally go on Tuesday, but because of the 4th there wasn't a meeting, so will be going to the WW center this morning first thing)
3. Start housecleaning livingroom (I am a list maker and that is on my list for this week - and as the week is almost over I need to get it done!)

Hope you all have an awesome day!

Positive words for today: Refreshed and Ready

Make each day count!

I joined this team to see if I could set goals in other parts of my life and reach them like I did with my weight loss. I am moving July 31 and I have forgotten how stressful it is. The last few months have been very stressful personally. I have been where I am for 21 years, but the relationship with the landlord has gone south. He hit my car and denies he did, yet there is red paint on his car. I am suing him. My lease comes up for renewal and he doesn't want to renew it. I have been looking for another place anyhow because he and his wife are 93 and 95 and don't take care of the place anymore. I had the leisure of taking my time and finding what I really wanted to though and saving money. Now I don't have that/

I am on disability and on Section 8 and don't have the money for a mover and no one to move me. The estimates I have gotten are $1,230---$1,190 which is 7 hrs @ $180.00+$170.00 I have to come up with 2 months security deposit which is $1,600. CT doesn't have a budget so there isn't any social service agency to help right now. I could be homeless if I don't come up with the money.

I lost over 122 pounds and have maintained it since 12/28/2012 but I must admit I have been stressing out and eating ice cream. I have gained almost 20 pounds in 3 months.

I did good on my goals Fri- Tues. I was rushed to the hospital on Sunday because I passed out in the shower. They kept me overnight for observation. The Dr.s say I have low BP and I am too stressed out. Wednesday we celebrated the 4th as my Mom's town had their fireworks that night. That started my slide.

Tomorrow it is back on track.

I will track my food.
I will stay within my ranges.
I will take my 15 minute walk
I will continue with the packing.

I love SparkPeople

Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

I am responsible for my own happiness.

My name is Bonnie I live in CT DST

I went from 258 to 126 pounds and have maintained it since 12/28/12.

Too Blessed to be Stressed.

Yes, I find that if I schedule my workouts, I can get them done, and sometimes surprise myself, but getting a bonus workout in. It's all about planning.

ITSALLGOOD6,

If you can find some local honey it may help your allergies. I never had allergies in my life, and after I lived in Georgia for 20 years, I developed year round allergies. I hear about local honey and I was a bit skeptical, but it was $15 for a quart, so I bought some and I started taking 2 teaspoons a day, and when the honey built up in my system, guess what! I no longer have allergies! Yes, I choose and must take the honey year around, but hey, I love it and it keeps me clear of allergies.

KATHRYN,

Thank you for starting this chat topic, as I find it helps me to talk with others who are doing a challenge with me. It helps to motivate me and I can also get some ideas from whoever chimes in with our conversations.

I had a rough two days on Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday started out good, but I had to drive over an hour to go to the VA Hospital. When I finished there, I had to travel to Augusta, which is where my plan went south. When I travel and I am stressed, which the VA always makes me, when I go to Augusta, I eat ALL THE TIME. It took me almost 3 hours to get to Augusta from where I was, and it was HOT!!! When I got to my destination I wanted to eat before I went to the hotel because I knew I would not be back out. So I hit the Pilot Station that had a Wendy's in there. When I went into the station the bathrooms were off limits, because they had no water pressure. UGH!!!! I slipped next door to Wendy's and didn't have any water either, so it was lemonade or green tea to drink. I chose the green tea, and about that time, I was so stressed, so I ordered a new item from their menu and let's just say it wasn't good and I wasn't even able to track it.

I made it to the hotel, and I did have my portable DVD player with me and some chair exercise DVDs that I exercised too and I also had my tablet, so I logged into SP Land and did some exercises they had also, but it wasn't enough to counteract what I ate. I didn't sleep at all, because it wasn't my bed and my home, and then headed to the VA Hospital, and I started with a workout in my wheelchair, but because I didn't know the lay of the land, I got frustrated and quit after 13 minutes. Then the entire day just went downhill.

When I left Augusta, it took me four hours to get home, and I tried to get some workouts in yesterday, but it wasn't and I wasn't working too well after that long drive. Now today, I am a maniac with my schedule and exercising, and I must say I am kicking behind and taking names today, and I feel so much better since I slept in my own bed. In fact, I went back to bed earlier this morning and my nurse woke me up, so I could take my medication. I just feel so much better today and I am thankful to Kathryn for starting this chat box.

Blessings!

I have procrastinated on this challenge...totally unlike me. But I'm not fully in yet. I want to be. I will be. Just not yet...lol. I think I am most like LOSINGIT18 - most organized when there's a lot going on. I am experiencing first-time-ever seasonal allergies and they've thrown me off kilter and have required slowing down this week. Thanks for starting this conversation!

I find it easier when things are busy, being busy makes me actually plan my meals and exercise activities. I put meal planning on my to-do list, and actually schedule my exercise time.
