What makes you happy about Autumn?

The smells, the beauty and time to make wonderful soups!

I look forward to the Apple Festival. It is a free event in a nearby town. Sister & I like to go & walk through the vendor area. We usually have soup or a sandwich at one of the church stands. A favorite place is the sausage stand & you can find it by the long line. I usually end my day with homemade ice cream.

I love this season , the lovely colour changes in trees, a feeling of settling down preparing for cold weather , the comfort of a cosy sweater. Better tv programmes!

Means nasty hot weather is gone for another year. My favorite weather is coming. I am a fall/winter person. Love my winter shoes and jackets.

A beautiful day like today!

I love the cooler temperatures. Nice to grab a jacket or sweater. I love wearing a robe while I drink my morning coffee.

It feels like Autumn already here and the few trees that we have that turn red have already started to change colour. Today is a lovely fall day but it looks like we will start to get more rain by the end of the week. That is good news for the forests however as the rains will help to put out the fires and clear the air. Autumn is a long season for us but it is not as beautiful as in the east part of the continent. The closer it gets to winter the less sun we see.

Hi Mel. I guess when September begins, I get pretty excited for Autumn, keep thinking "any day now!" We probably won't see leaves turning colour until October but what a lovely thought, eh?

Ohh, those pumpkin bars will be so good! I can almost smell that pumpkin and spice blend way over here in Canada!! And don't be embarrassed for making an Autumn meal, make more of them and enjoy!! I'd join you if we lived closer to one another!

Hey Gloria! What a pleasant subject to mull over in my mind! Here in northern California we have areas with gorgeous autumn colors. September is a little too early but by October and November we have great swaths of golden and redautumn colors in our trees in a lot of areas. Here on the seacoast where I live it isn't so prevalent so we like to drive over the mountain and to areas like Auburn, California and others where we can get our fill of the delicious autumn colors!

Even with all the evergreen trees where we live though, nature gives us the inner feeling of fall coming! Today I am gathering my ingredients for Pumpkin Pie Bars to bake and give to many in my family. And I am almost embarrassed to admit that yesterday I already made an autumn meal with pork chops and cornbread dressing!

I am excited about the autumn cooking and family times that are coming on.

What makes me happy about Autumn is the cool, crisp, clean air, great for breathing and great for outdoor walking. I'm happy to be out looking at the beautiful coloured leaves on the trees and hear the crunch of the crisp leaves beneath my feet. Nature in her glorious splendour!

Indoors, I'm happy it's Autumn because it feels cozy indoors and also it's the weather that entices me to cook and bake. How can you beat the delicious aroma of pumpkin/apple/cinnamon coming from the kitchen? That makes me happy.

I will not put down other seasons, they all have their glorious moments but so many things about Autumn makes it my favourite season of all.

Although a nice sunny autumn day is lovely -- here on the west coast autumn is one of the rainy seasons. We also don't have the beautiful colour of the maples and oaks. We do have some fall colour but it's not nearly as spectacular here and includes a lot of yellow. Also autumn is a prelude to winter and that has to be my least favourite season. Summer is probably still my favourite season since it reminds me of wonderful times at the cottage when I was a kid. Spring is my second favourite because of all the reawakening of nature and the beautiful spring flowers.

Autumn is my favorite season. Especially in Michigan when there were trips to the apple orchards - favorite catalogs = Eddie Bauer and LL Bean; wearing fleece and the beautiful fall with leaves of multi colors. Out in Southern CA, while it is still my favorite season all the above is lost unless I drive to the mts. After September (which is our hottest month), like the cooler temperatures

I know it's a while before Autumn gets here and whether it is your favourite season or not, will you come in here and let us know what you like/love about Autumn? Can do it in words, also pictures. It will be great to read all these posts.
