I was a Registered nurse/midwife for 38+ years and I loved every moment of it!
That was always my desire as a child!

I trained and worked in England and then here in Trinidad
To this day I get to meet men and women whom I actually deliverd because I worked and lived locally
I retired at age 60

I did administrative work, I managed convenience stores, I worked in a childcare facility, I was a Kelly Girl, I teach Sign Language, I was a Customer Service Representative, I was in the military, and I was forced to retire by being declared totally disabled by man, but God super enabled me, in 1991.

Blessings!

I did secretarial work. I was a stay-at-home mom while we were raising our 3 children. I did a lot of baby-sitting for other mothers during those years. I worked midnights in a factory for about a year when they were all in school. After that, I started to work part-time for our church. I was there for 20 years and retired at age 59.

(my mother and my sister were both teachers.)

Growing up I worked in my parents' marine business in Midland, Ontario doing everything from payroll to pumping gas. After college, I taught English to grades 9&10 for a year and then we got married and we moved across the country to Vancouver where I worked as a clerk in government offices. The next step was when my husband went back to University and I worked at the University of Waterloo in the audiovisual department and The University of Alberta in admissions. Then my husband got a job in the Federal Government and we moved to Ottawa where I decided to stay home until I got bored and went back to work as a temporary secretary until we moved to Calgary where I did more temporary work until we adopted our daughter. For the next 25 years I was a stay-at-home Mom and when the kids were launched I went to Cuenca, Ecuador to teach English both in schools and privately. Since we came back to Canada in 2007 I have been completely retired so that would have been at age 63.5.

I worked many years as a waitress. I went back to college when my kids were raised & got my degree. I worked for Head Start, first as a teacher and then as Family Service Worker. I retired from full time work the day I turned 66. But within a few weeks I was offered a job in activities at a nearby nursing home. I worked part time for a few years.

I did various jobs - 1st job when I was 11 years old was working (and I mean WORKING!) on a tobacco farm; worked as waitress after school when in high school; worked in sewing factory, then my sisters restaurant when I got out of high school. Married at 18 and had 4 babies within 6 years so from then on I only did seasonal work on tobacco farms. Stopped at age 37 when I had my last daughter.

I taught junior high - Science and math

Became Chief Operations Officer of a medical group

Retired from full time work when I was 73

Every day I am on the verge of making slight changes that would make all the difference in my life.

One day I won't be able to do this, but today is not that day

What type of job/s did you have if you were employed outside the home and how old were you when you retired?
