got my walk in this morning before the heavy rain came. Walked to the gym - worked out - then walked home.

Good day for making chicken soup and dumplings - and I made a batch of cookies which Im giving most away.

Hoping for no rain tomorrow........ outside stuff to do.

Good morning everyone! Dinner last night was fun! The diner was jam packed, because there were TWO bus groups there!! We like to see our favorite diner busy! Today, I am up early, sparking first, then more laundry and cleaning. I'm contemplating setting up my Christmas tree....

A good day - slept in, had a good breakfast: hard boiled egg and oatmeal, which was just perfect for the weather today! I've been putting things away, laundry, tidying up, and cleaning today. Going out for dinner later.

walked almost 6 miles today - and a good 30 minute gym workout.
Went back to eating fat free cottage cheese......... high in protein and that has been missing from my eating. Started using the free weights for upper body - and have progressed from 10 pound weights to 15 pounders on some exercises. still cannot get those 15 pounders over my head - so when I do over head exercises Im still at 12 pound weights. Can feel my strength increasing....................... and scale is down 2 pounds. Legs are getting hard and so very little cellulite on them now................ seeing some of the muscle.
Im sore today - but its a good kind of sore.

Wonder how much fat will have to burn off my body or how much weight I will have to lose to actuallly lose the bellyfat - if that is even possible at age 61. GGoing to try.

Sunny out - but cold............. someone gave me some Daisy plants so will get them in the ground today before it freezes and I cant dig in it.

Enjoy your dayy all

Today I spent an hour and a half working on my yard and I still have more to do but the end is in sight! Next will be the snow!
NJJazz, I hope your mother's yard is not too big. I still need to get up to do my Dad's raking and he has a third of an acre.

good thought LiveDaily - I walk 4-5 miles per day - but some of that walking is back and forth from the gym. The gyn is 2 miles from my house and I walk there - workout with free weights - and other machines - and then walk home. Just changed things up a bit - so hoping to see some results. In the end though - I know until I control my eating or figure out the proper eating.......... Im not going to see the results I want. Working very hard on that.

Headed north to rake leaves in my Moms yard..... that will be todays workout.

Jazz - Don't cut off your hands!! Hmmm....you do a lot of walking, which is really good. Maybe you need to alternate your walking with a different form of cardio. Kettlebells, bike riding, maybe? Have you tried pilates?

Hi All, I did about 20 minutes of yard work today and it was so nice out I also walked for 40 minutes so I am full of energy.

I couldn't stay at my Dad's all last weekend since we sold the beds and lamps so I stayed with my boyfriend Rick one night and he was sick so now I'm starting to get it. I did a healing meditation today and have been drinking herb tea. I hope that holds it off

Chris - Take care of YOU. Things are always going to happen. Life is like that. When things start to feel like they're out of control, you still have power over what and how you eat and your activity level. You can do this!

Dee - Great job of getting back on track! Keep it up!

I'm back from what turned out to be an awful time at my Dad's house. People weren't showing up for the moving sale and my brother went downstairs to get something and the downstairs was 2" deep in sewage. The sewer man came fast but the open house was on Sunday and the real estate agent had already advertised it and couldn't cancel. We cleaned up as best we could and managed to sell most of the stuff in the house but now I am exhausted and 4 pounds up!
I hope I can get back on track this week. I have a job interview tomorrow and I need to study for that. The boyfriend is supposed to come over on the weekend but he is sick so I don't know if he will be able to come here but it is OK either way as long as he is getting better.

Having a great day! The weather was great! Went to my WW meeting but chose not to weigh-in. Not the best week. Too many birthday celebrations and not choosing wisely, but that is behind me. I am back on track! I went out and bought a yoga mat & blocks and did a beginners routine. In fact, I pinned several beginners routines to Pinterest. I walked and had a nice healthy dinner and tracked all my food. Feeling happy, in control and ready for a great week! emoticon

Still more tidying...and throwing out of "stuff". Went for my acupuncture visit, then went to Lakeshore Teacher's store, then went to the Wal Mart in Secaucus. Wow, was it crowded!! I had to park at the end of the parking lot, which I was planning on doing anyway, to get extra steps in, but I HAD to, because there was no other place to park! It looked like the week before Christmas...lol! Picked up a few things I needed. It was a good afternoon.

Dee - I hope you've enjoyed your day as much as I have mine!!

Sue - Feel better soon!!

Krill - I'm so sorry about the piano. My parent's home was disassembled years ago, and I STILL think of things long gone, and wonder what happened to them. *sigh* Our memories play tricks on us like that.

I also had the day off, and I slept in with no alarm clock waking me up. I had a wonderful breakfast of blueberries, yogurt, and bran buds, and I did some serious tidying up. More to do tomorrow!

I'm back at my Dad's to help with the estate sale and then the open house by the real estate agent is on Sunday.
I was hoping to be able to watch my eating but I didn't do well yesterday. I brought some sheet music to play on the piano I bought 40 years ago and there was a sold sign on it. I didn't even know it was being sold. I don't mind selling it but I wish I had been given a head's up so I could be prepared for that!
Hopefully, a better day today!

Kris & Karen - thank you

Can't do much exercising this week but when I'm ready I'll strengthen my back muscles. Lesson learned!!!!!!!

Otherwise, I'm trying to have at least 1 super healthy meal a day. Today I had a scrambled egg with baby spinach & feta cheese for breakfast. It was so good & satisfied me until lunchtime.

Sue - talk to your doctor about exercises you can do to strengthen your back and/or stretch it out. I know when my back was causing me problems, the PT recommended doing bridges. I was only able to do a few at the beginning, but gradually built up, and it DID help. Also, we tend to forget that everything is also dependent on strong legs and a strong core. Leg (high knee) lifts are good for that, as are leg abduction exercises.

I was at a workshop all day today. My brain hurts, and I didn't get as much walking in as usual.

I somehow managed to strain my lower back muscles yesterday. This is a recurring problem with me but it's been at least a year since it happened last. Now I'm walking around like a really, really old lady and won't be able to exercise for a week - so frustrating!!!!!!

It's time to change the clocks again - something I always hate doing. It just throws me off and takes me a week or two to get back to normal. Why is that, anyway?????

I'm looking forward to November and making it a successful nutrition & fitness month. This will be a huge challenge for me because Thanksgiving & Christmas are always " eat whatever & as much as you want " times.

Get out & enjoy this weekend.

Just spent 3 hours at 2 different schools watching my grandson's Halloween parades. My little Dylan & his classmates were put in a wagon & pulled around the grounds by a tractor. It was so cute but he was more interested by the straw in the wagon than anything else - too funny. Then Michael, age 6, was very serious ( and handsome ) in his vampire costume. It's very strange to see my grandsons at the same schools that their Mom went to.

Happy Halloween!!!!!!!!!

I've really enjoyed the weather these past few days. I hung clothes out on the line & Mother Nature dried them for me. We've had the windows open during the day, which I love - I always feel closed in when they're closed.

Not looking forward to changing the clocks on Sunday. It's going to be so dark so early now.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

Chris - start carrying little packs of nuts and/or cheese snacks, or small protein bars in your purse. My Mom carried these types of things around with her when she was hypoglycemic and it helped a lot.

Well, Karen, that's quite a dilemma. One would think that the two would agree with each other - a step is a step, right?

I'm not familiar with the Vivo Fit, but I've had my Spark Activity Tracker for 10 months now & I find it to be accurate. There have been times when I needed 400 or 500 more steps to get to my goal so actually went outside, walked up & down my street counting my steps & sure enough, it agreed with me.

Chris - I'm sorry to hear that you're having so much stress over getting your Dad situated. I can't even imagine what you're going through, but I hope everything works out for you both soon. Meanwhile, please concentrate on your well being - that's so important.

I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather - it's about to change!!!!

My weight has been going up and down for the last several weeks as I continue to struggle with the issues related to moving my dad into assisted living. I passed out yesterday from hypoglycemic shock and I hope that will get me back on track. So far I have been doing well today and got some exercise raking leaves.

I have a Spark Activity tracker that I wear on my shoe, and also a Vivo Fit that I wear on my arm. The Vivo Fit tells me I am over my goal of 5,000 steps every day, while the SP tracker does not. What's with that??

Hi, my name is Karen and I have a belly too.

My Mom had one, and so did my Dad. So I come by it genetically, but it doesn't have to be as big as it is! I'm working on that!

So much depends on our body shapes, our heritage, and our cravings. And those darn plateaus!!!!!!

I have a pear shaped body and just like NJJAZZ I hate my fat belly (which I've had most of my life). I also crave carbs the most which is not good.

I'm finally learning to eat healthier and I'm really trying to exercise more. I'm also trying not get too upset with the scale when I don't like the numbers.

LiveDaily - you are correct ---------------- the main goal is health and fitness..... and not a number on the scale.

I honestly dont care about the scale ---------------- i just want to lose fat in the midsection. I have a belly - and I dont like it. Parents were both trim - I have an apple body shape - and carbs is my craving of choice. LOL doomed. emoticon

Strength training is firming up my legs unbelievably --------------- alot less jiggly - and I have muscles in my calves and thighs. Building some arm muscles............. but this darn belly fat will not budge............... and Im not one for starving myself. I eat pretty clean all in all.

My goal is the belly - I guess to be more specific............... and Im not giving up on that.
