Thanks you guys!! And it is very kind of you to want me to stick around. But I need to go. While my knee has given up running, my brain is having a harder time with it. I can't tell you how many times my brain has tried to trick me with, "It will be OK - the doc is being overly cautious." At home I am even hiding running magazines and such.

See you around other teams and boards!!

Peace, love and running!

The old saying about running " It's a Get to not a HAVE to" is so true. Esp. at times like this when all you really want is to run.

Take care of yourself and find another love, you will be Okay!!

Good luck and stick with us. We can use all the encouragement we can get!!!

I hate to hear about your knees. As they say "every time a door closes another opens". Thanks for all your support.

I'm sorry to hear about your knee, but Yes! Yes! Please stay! You have a wonderful attitude and spirit and even if you can't physically run, your encouragement and advice to the rest of us would be so very much appreciated. Thank you for all you have done for this group! emoticon

emoticon I agree, I see no reason to leave. I see this group as a place where we set our own speed be it 1 mph or 6 mph run/walk. No one is setting a speed to qualify. A positive attitude is always nice to have in a group. emoticon

Yes, I agree. Please stay with our group and share your love for running with the rest of us. We will certainly let you know of all the things we accomplish while practicing your advice.
Take care and keep moving forward. I heard Joel Osteen say once, that the setbacks that you get in life are not always bad, but a way to get ahead with much better things to come.

Enjoy your new spinning class my dear. Let us know how you are doing!

That sounds so final - I don't mean it that way. A few weeks ago I learned that I have managed to use up my allotted cartilage under my left knee cap. In it's place, my clever knee has added a huge bone spur. That is apparently what clever bones do when they are rubbed the wrong way.

It would seem the issue dates back to the ligament replacement I had 20 years ago - not from my new found love for running. The running did not cause my injury, it just made it noticeable. The real culprit that set me off on the path of discovery was a pair of high heeled shoes. That I won't miss - I can blissfully live in flats for the rest of my life.

The worst part is that I can no longer partake in the effort of RUNNING! I can do other stuff - just nothing high impact. Good time to finally try the spin class I have been avoiding for 4 years!!

I was sad when I got the news and I allowed myself a weekend to mourn the loss of my favorite form of exercise. But I am moving on now. That is where the good bye part starts.

I hope you guys continue running - it is an awesome sport with so much to offer. I love the saying - Run Like A Dog. They are so happy and joyful when they run. So - get to it and enjoy a few miles for me!!
