I also used total time since I ran outside and didn't know distances.

Thank you for asking this question! I use an outdoor track that isn't marked so I don't know the distance I'm doing when in my program. I like others use the Walk/Jog and enter my total time instead of breaking them apart.

I was using the walk/jog that others are using. I have a Garmin that I was using but didn't realize it would show calories burned so now I manually enter it when I do it outside. Inside on the treadmill I go with the walk/jog greater than 10mpg.

I actually bought the Garmin before I started to run so I could track time and distance on my hikes and long walks back in January. Just now learning to use some of the other neat functions.

I also use walk/jog greater than 10 min/mile and enter my time, but I am outside (so no #s from treadmill) and I'm not wearing anything to calculate distance or calories burned.

I did what you suggested: 3x5 min 12/min mile and then like 20 min of 19/mile walking.

(then I won a Garmin, so if you look at my spark page you will see I just move my stats over from that system.)

You're gonna find that different people do different things. I just choose the walk/jog greater than 10 min/mile and enter my time. Others add the walking & jogging intervals together and enter them & others use the "Map Your Route" feature in my Fitness and enter the calories calculated there. One more area where it becomes, "Whatever works for you!"

I just finished Day 2 of Week 2 on the C25K plan. I walked the warmup/cool down and intervals at 3mph (20 min mile) and then "ran" the other part at 4.5 or ...somewhere just less than 15 min mile...SO..do I add up all the walking intervals and track that, then add up all the running intervals and add that? Or just average it all out...?? anyone?
