I am sorry to hear about your loss but I am also happy that you took the moment and did something that some may call selfish but I call "putting you first". Not putting ourselves first is what got us to this level. In order for you to be their for others you must take care of you first.

My condolences to you and your family. It's inspiring to hear that you used the memory of your grandfather and inspiration to press forward and do (complete) the race. You're right he was cheering you on all the way.

I just joined the group yesterday and haven't even started training. Your success has inspired me to move forward and to believe in myself. Thank you and congratulations.

Congratulations on your 5k! Gettysburg is not far from where I live in Chambersburg. I wish I was at a point that I felt confident to run in the Spirit this year. Is there a lot of hills in the course? How did you feel about having your first 5k be such a large race (a lot of runners)?

My condolences on the loss of your grandfather. I am sure that he would have wanted you to run and would be very proud of you.

I am so sorry for the loss of your Grandfather. You do know that he would have been upset with you if you didn't run the race - you know how grandpa's can be. emoticon You are right he was looking down on you saying what a great job you did.

Today was the day - I completed my first ever 5k AND graduated from C25K! I ran the Spirit of Gettysburg 5k and came in at 33:45 (518 out of 713 finishers). Not too shabby for my first time. The best part was that I ran the whole way. It got really tough the last 1/2 mile, but I made it! I did it with a friend of mine, so it was great to have the motivation while training and during the race.

Unfortunately the evening before the race I found out that my grandfather passed away, but I decided to run anyway. I trained too hard for the last 2 months to not at least attempt this event, and I'm sure he was looking down on me :)
