Update---On the end if week 5 now and am beginning to see small movement on the scale. I also took some measurements and have lost an inch off my waist already!! So you were all right. The scale says I've lost 5lbs, but my pants are loose, measurements are down, and muscles are visible in my legs. Stick to it and it will happen--this is my mantra. Thanks all

I am so glad I found this thread! I just posted a blog this morning about how frustrated I am about seeing the scale go in the wrong direction. I've been working so hard, and seeing no (numeric) results. However, I have seen a lot of other positive changes in myself, and I'm sure the weight loss will come.

Thanks everyone!

I hear ya! I started the program at the beginning of June. Until then, I been losing a consistent 2lbs per week, then all of a sudden my weight loss seemed to all but stop. Well, it really slowed down and I was blaming the C25K for it.

I got some really neat feedback from lots of folks including runners and group leaders and some of the best information I got was that when you are building muscle as I was in the first few (repeated) weeks, your muscles tend to need and retain water and blood to regenerate themselves. It was nice to hear that there is a reason people say muscle weighs more than fat. It doesn't really, but it sure takes up less space per pound and I have noticed a significant decrease in my fat in lots of different place and I've gone down another dress size.

All the while losing only about 5 1/2 or 6 lbs in June. July has been much better though and I'm only on week 4 as I'm repeating weeks alot. I think my muscles are under a bit less stress and the scale is moving again.

Hope this gives you some hope. I know that all the wonderful, fitness and health changes should really be their own reward, but, like you, I just love to see those numbers go down!! Hang in and keep runnin'!

Though we cannot control the winds, we can adjust the sails.

I understand your need to see the scale move, but I think you've got the right attitude. Keep going, keep persevering, the weight loss will follow!

I am in the middle of week 6 and I have lost about 7 pounds (probably 5 since starting C25K). However, I am down a clothing size!!!

I hear you all and I do feel more fit, muscles are beginning to show in my legs, etc. But I really NEED to lose weight. I plan to keep going and hope to see some results soon.

I was losing weight pretty steadily before C25k. I'm on week 3 now and the scale isn't budging, but my clothes are looser and my fitness level is higher, so I'm considering throwing the scale out the window!

I am currently in Week 9. I struggled the first several weeks with weight loss. I could see the inches coming off, feel myself getting healthier, etc. but the scale wasn't moving. Then in about Week 5 or 6 it suddenly started dropping. I've lost about 20 pounds now (would have been more, but haven't been eating too good for the past two weekends, back on track now though!)

You may or may not lose weight right away but the inches will come off. Try not to become tortured by the scale.

Remember (sorry to rain on anyone's parade here) 1 lb is a lb. whether it is fat or muscle - FAT just takes up more room.

I've lost some weight but definitely losing inches. I try to keep the mind set that I'm working on endurance and fitness and not running for a weight loss program. If i do lose then that was an extra bonus. emoticon

I've been doing C25K for about 6 weeks (though I'm only on week 4 -I have to repeat a lot!). I've lost 6 pounds in that time. I know we are all different, though! And, yes, my clothes are fitting better, too... almost down a size! emoticon

I finished the program and am now doing other things. I didn't lose in ounce in fact gained 5 lbs. But I lost inches, dropped 2 pant sizes, my legs and butt have toned up alot. I also lost alot of my pinch in inch or in my case 10 inches. LOL. My stomach hasn't really improved but is starting to with the 30 day shred.

The bad news... I haven't lost weight in over a year even doing the Couch 25K.

The good news...I am MUCH more fit than I was a year ago at the same weight. I used to be only able to exercise for 30 minutes a day. Now I can do 60 minutes most days a week.

I haven't lost weight but my nutrition hasn't been great. I know some days I'm way over on calories and all the wrong kind. That will be my next challenge to take on. emoticon

I agree with the others who commented. You are gaining muscle. I try not to pay a lot of attention to the scale, but I do rely on the tape measure.

I didn't lose a whole lot of pounds, but I lost a lot of inches!! I was still wearing a size 16 when I started and now wear size 12's no problem. It made a huge difference in slimming me through my hips and rear! Now if I could just spot target and run off that belly...LOL

I did lose weight while training. If you don't lift weights, I bet you are just gaining muscle. I bet it will start coming off soon. I have heard of other people with the same issue, and it eventually came off. You should take measurements to be sure. Just because the scale doesn't move it doesn't mean you aren't losing fat.

Same thing has happened to me, but I did notice clothes are getting looser and inches are slowly dropping off - but the scale isn't moving much. I have to go with Robertkc's thought that it's muscle.

You are probably losing weight, but with the training you are doing, you are gaining muscle which is denser, so the weight loss would not be as evident.

I'm on week four and have not lost a single pound. I am on track with calorie consumption, etc. So I don't get it. Any thoughts?
