Congrats on moving that plateau. Slow and steady...

Now, I'm running a different race. Found out that I have type II diabetes last week. It wasn't unexpected. The doctor who diagnosed me with acute reactive hypoglycemia told me that I would be diabetic in five years because my pancreas would quit. It happened in 20 years.

I'm putting running on the back burner until I see the podiatrist about a sore on my foot that won't heal. I go tomorrow. I'm hoping for good news.

Have a good week!

Shalom

Glad to see that at least two of us are still around! Thanks for the encouragement - I did break through the plateau but haven't dropped much more since. I know - patience. I hope you have a great week! Congratulations on you 5K!! emoticon

Still here.

Ran my first 5k in May.

Want to do another one in October.

Keep up the good work. That plateau will fall!

Just ran my first 1/2 marathon. Down about 12 lbs. and hit a plateau and now I'm trying something different. Anyone else out there from our class active on SP?

Doing good.

Preparing to run my first 5k in October.

I'm a great walker, but I still haven't run yet (except for 30 seconds two weeks ago to see if I could do it).

My friends asked me who was chasing me... emoticon

See how much you have achieved!! Excellent work!

I generally view times of maintaining as a chance for my mind to catch up with my new weight. With all the changes you have made to your body, your mind needs to be able to adjust to the new things you can do that you couldn't before and to accept the new habits you have formed.

Hi there! Welcome!

Great work on the loss so far!

I would suggest you set your weight ticker to your actual start weight as that would be more motivating.

Take a look through the articles. There are some great tips on breaking through plateaux there.

You may need to mix things up a little. For instance, if you keep your cals to a certain number each day you may find that going to the higher end once in a while might shift things.
As we lose weight we tend to become more active. This leaves you needing more calories than previously so maybe increase your intake a little for a week or two and see how that goes.

Good luck!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one having trouble getting around the sight. Chrystal, I couldn't help but notice that you're using weight like crazy. Just wanted to say, "Good for you!" I'm wondering how to get my picture along side my messages. I'm not even sure half the time how to get back to my home page though (or whatever it's called).

I'm not entirely sure as that part of the site has changed since I was at that stage, but I am fairly sure that on your homepage you should see a "read overview" button. You may be able to find your way to the tutorial from there.

If that doesn't get you to it, maybe post to the Site/tech help board (community > message boards) and someone will direct you to it.

Hi, I have a technical question... I decided to move to stage 2 today. When I made the move, there was a page that had about 3 buttons on it, 1) Update Goals, 2) Take tutorial, and 3) I don't remember what it was...

Anyway I pushed the first button to review my goals... Once I did that, I could not get back to the first Stage 2 screen that was giving me all of the options so that I could continue to take the tutorial and learn about stage 2.

Can you tell me how I could return to that screen? emoticon

One minute, One hour, One day at a time. Bit by bit I can do this!

Click on "Mytools" and look to the left side of the page, about ¾ of the way down the page, you will see "My goals", the first entry says something like "to go from x to y", click change next to that and you can go through the set up process again.

Hi, Can someone tell me how to adjust my goal weight... I was looking at a BMI chart today and realized that I have set my goal too high in that, I will still be in the over BMI category. I would like to adjust it downward by 6 lbs.

You are right. No doubt this is something that staff have in mind, but I will bring it to their attention just in case.

These changes are quite recent, so I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it gets changed.

Thank you so much for this piece of information (how to find private journal entries). I'm also glad to know that there also is a way to delete journal entries, because that is exactly what I did with that first "test" post. It was just to "test" the waters and learn how to do it. But it had no real connection to my journey here.

You would think they'd change the directions on how to find the private entries and deletion of them. I am not a mind reader *g* I suppose eventually I would have stumbled across it -- but there is still so much for me to learn here! :)

Thanks again :)

How does one get to see a private blog post one has made! I did a "test" post for my first blog post, and made it private. It's not of any consequence, because all it says is "test" -- but I can't see it. The directions given confuse me. There's supposed to be a "my home" tab at the top of the page, and I don't see it.

Also -- is there any way of deleting a blog post. I don't think so, but am asking anyway.

Well done!

Looks like you've got it.

You go to the page of the person wanting to add you and click the "add to friends" button.

Adding a person to your page won't add you to theirs, so they need to add you too.

Excellent work on the losses!!

Tadpole, there is an easier way.

If you hover over the "Mytools" part of the bar above, click on "Start" and look to the left side of the page.

You will see in the orange area links to the fitness tracker, nutrition tracker and the weigh-in area.
Click "Weigh-in" and it will open up the page to enter your measurements.

Congratulations on the weight loss - Doesn't it feel Good!?!

Now for where to log it - Go to your "start" page under "my tools". The first column (orange) has a link to your weigh-in and measurements area.

OK folks, raise your right hand and promise not to laugh at me! emoticon

I was trying really hard to wait until tomorrow to step on the scale to see if I had by any chance lost any weight even though I'm focused on modifying some behaviors first... BUT I just couldn't wait any longer (yes I am equally bad at christmas with presents!)

Any way, I stepped on and low and behold I have lost 5.5 lbs this week!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now the question! I never stuck with this long enough to do a weigh in.. Where do I record that I have lost weight so that it shows up on my ticker chart?

Tad, just click on the View SparkPoints and you will find all sorts of ways to earn more points. And if you click on your current trophy you can see how many points it takes to earn each trophy. I think it is a wonderful way to motivate you to do the various tasks that earn points such as reading articles, trying recipes, posting on the message boards, tracking your food and water..all the things that will help keep us on the right path.

Hi, Can anyone tell me where to find out about the points trophies. I see that I'm working on points but I haven't been able to find out what that means as of yet. I am accumulating lots of points and have found the spark points page... So I'm able to see what I have done and haven't done each day.

One minute, One hour, One day at a time. Bit by bit I can do this!

If you look on the tracker page, there is an arrow next to the date. Click to the left for a previous day or the right for a future day.

Generic images...they can be found at www.mvm.com you need to set an account with one of the stores and then design and dress your model. Right click the model and choose to save the picture and then upload it here as you do any other picture.

Jen, it doesn't matter so much just for one week, but if you find you are consistently burning more than the system thinks you are then you should adjust your plan to allow for it. This is a question which crops up from time to time on the "Fitness and Exercise" board, so maybe take a look there and see the exact answer given by the experts.

So for this week I have a little over 1,000 calories burned in exercise. The system says I should have just over 700. Should I adjust my eaten calories in anyway as a result?

I was over by 100 calories on 2 days this week, does that make up for it? I just don't want to be dropping into starvation mode. I'm pretty sure that's what has stalled my weight loss in the past.

Thsnks for your help!

This may or may not be website related. Where do people get the profile pics of the generic body images? I see them on lots of sparkpages.

Thank you, Crystalqueen! Mine tailors the calories burned to the user and I've always trusted those estimates, so I think I will enter them manually. I'm such a sucker for precision.

When I use my HRM, I generally enter it as either medium or high intensity aerobic.

If your HRM actually tells you cals burned with any kind of accuracy (for instance, mine will but it simply works it out from the measures of time and HR, no reckonings for gender, height, weight etc so I only use it to measure my HR) you can enter manually from the tracker.

As far as accounting for the strength work, go to the fitness page and look for the button that says "Track my own exercises". Click that and it will turn off the pre-selected workouts.

Click the "manage workouts" tab and you will see the button to create a workout.
I use this method to record my Pilates classes...there are certain exercises I always do, some we do from time to time, I have them all as a full workout and can then remove ones we don't do on a particular day.

This means you are accounting for the strength and cardio parts of your workouts.

This is a little tricky, but here goes.

I have a heart rate monitor I've been using for a few months, so I'm used to tracking ALL my exercise not just cardio, but strength training and less strenuous activities like yoga.

I've been having a slow exercise week so there's little to add for the moment, but next week when I'm back on track, how should I be entering these separate exercises? I want all of my calories, including anaerobic exercise, to count!

I don't particularly need to track each type of lifting I do, so perhaps it's just better to add all my exercise to the cardio. But then the tracker will think I'm not doing strength training when, in fact, I am.

Is there a better way to approach this?

Thanks in advance.

On the page where the list of available foods is, there is a link to add your own foods and you can fill out a nutritional information chart. Just remember to check add to favorites so you can find it easily next time you need it.

QUESTION: When filling out the form for what I ate today, how do I enter a food that isn't in the vast catalog of food. For instance a 100 calorie vitamuffin top? I know the nutritionals and want to add the 100 calories.
thanks

If we still don't hear from our leader by the end of the week I contact one of the Coaches.

CDGOFF if you belong to a team and the team leader is MIA you need to Sparkmail Coach Jen or one of the Coaches in charge of SP so they can remove the leader or at least at you if you prefer to become one of the leaders of the team so the team will be functioning properly again. Let me know if you don't know how to Sparkmail them and I will walk you through it.

Welcome Tricia!! The Sticky Topic is just a topic that someone feels is important and should be placed on the top of all the other topics. With every new topic the oldest one will be moved down. So the team leaders can make certain items sticky topics so they remain at the top for all to see. I hope that answered your question and good luck to you!!!!

Well done!

The red team/blue team thing is for a particular challenge.

There are some challenges (either on the challenges message board or through the sparkteams) which split members into teams and compete against one another.

If you go edit your SparkPage, they're both there. The little trackers are fairly obvious, and the signature is somewhere to the right.

Where can I get one of the little progress charts I'm seeing in members signatures for the messages?
The ones with start and goal markers.

And How Can I set up my own signature for my messages?

Thanks,

Crystallqueen is exactly right! If you click on the food itself it will bring up several different substitutes or you can add your own food to the meal planner also. Hope Crystal and I answered your question for you!!!

I don't tend to use the meal plans myself, but I am fairly sure that there is a button to make it change the entire day if you don't like what comes up.

You can also substitute individual items by clicking the item you wish to remove and selecting a new one from the window that opens up.

Is there any way to have more meal suggestions than the default ones? I think suggesting meal plans is a good idea as I can never figure out what I want to eat, so I usually just give up and cook something quick and terrible for me. I just think having more selection would make it a lot better.
