A bout of depression, and my room (I rent in a multi adult house), is as chaotic as my brain.
I need a couple days off in a row to whip it into shape.

Frustated this morning because I had to toss out spoiled food yet again. I've had company several times this summer, and bought extra things that I wouldn't normally eat such as bagels, french bread, etc.

I should have frozen the leftovers but the freezers are already jam-packed and there just wasn't room. I don't NEED to shop for groceries AT ALL this month - I need to clean out the fridge and use up what's in there, and keep working on the frozen foods, etc. It's just way too much. And I didn't use much of the frozen items for company because I worried they wouldn't taste fresh enough.

It's very interesting to see how little I actually do eat. A pizza lasts for several meals. Cookies last for weeks, at the rate of one per day. Buying in bulk to get the best price just doesn't work all the time for a single person. Many years ago I bought a small chest freezer thinking I'd use it for garden produce and good buys. The reality is that I could actually do without it. My gardening style now is to grow what I can eat fresh during the summer, and I only freeze a small portion of produce. It's going to be a long effort to use all this up and get to a new level of food storage. It's very frustrating when the fridge is packed so full I can't get to things easily.

Any suggestions on how to stop hoarding food would be appreciated!

still getting over the hump in my Whole30 journey - Day 10 emoticon
I'm dealing with cravings, mostly for a cold Coke, which I don't usually indulge in anyway, just an occasional hot summer day treat. Even the sight of the delivery truck driving down the road had me craving one! Silly! I can't believe I've been coffee free for 10 days! I think I'm over the "wanting to nap All The Time" phase. emoticon More energy is on the horizon.

Ouch! yeah, I know I have arthritis in my back and neck, but I've never been to a chiropractor to see what kind of damage is really in there.
Back problems are scary! They totally change your life. My husband was hurt when he was 19 and has suffered in various degrees ever since. He is now 51. :(

I really did something to my back and a trip to the chiropractor found I have degenerative disc disease and arthritis in my back. The pain has been keeping me from doing most things, but I'm trying to keep flat surfaces clear. Now if I can get one of the kids to vacuum!

I'm struggling with my 'fall' injuries. Aching an awful lot. Kind of discouraging. Can't weed, can't wash dishes, can't sew or crochet...all these things I'm dying to get to. Grr..
But I can type. And I can read. So that's good. lol

I am down 12 pounds since Feb 7, when I began my rebounding routine. My struggle has always been to LOSE. I don't think I've EVER lost more than 20lbs. I just gain slowly and can't burn it off. Even these 12 pounds are far above what was recorded when I joined sparkpeople in 2009.
So I can't wait to lose another 8 lbs to burst through that first obstacle.
If I can do that, my confidence in this fitness journey will grow strong.

I worked really hard in January and February to get all the clutter off the main floor of the house so I could entertain. I succeeded, except for the spare bedroom. Now I have company coming next week, and I need to get back at it and whip that room into shape, as well as reclean the rest of the main floor and start in on the upstairs and basement.

The obstacle is that now it's also getting nice outside, and there's a mountain of yardwork as well, And of course, all the other activities that life throws at us!

I am going to make a start today, and hopefully my momentum will swing back and push me along.

Char, we just bought a metal shelf for my apartment kitchen ( we have a small apartment attached to the back of our Victorian house that looks like a cottage). The shelf sits back in a nooky type corner. I placed a large, long donate box on the very bottom. The next shelf up has my two large roasting pans and crockpot. The next one has a convection oven that my sister h had purchased for us to use when Mom lived with us (Sis had the shopping bug during that time) and things that we purchase for parties, like aluminum pans, paper plates/cups, plastic ware. And the top stores toilet paper, paper towels and some odds and ends.

Keep in mind that NONE of this really had a HOME before. To me, this shelf is like....miraculous. haha.

As a side note, I, too, have a piece of wood, on the wall near my stove for hanging pans. Mine are all cast iron. I love it. I think it looks so nice.

About A Slob Comes Clean. I subscribed to her blog so I see some of her videos pretty regularly. Today I saw a funny one about her trying to declutter her bedroom. There were all kinds of things in there that made no sense to her. It was funny to watch her embarrassed reaction.

Tina, Just one little step at a time. Do a little something without getting overwhelmed.

I got started fine, but stalled out due to a problem trying to load photos from my camera to my laptop. Says "problem with drive E. Scan now". I'll wait for my PC guru hubby to get back home and see if he can do something with it. He usually can.

Took on too much. This shelf broke, too much stuff piled on it.

Bought a new shelf and cleared stuff from other areas in kitchen. Microwave carts, top of fridge, above cabinets.

Still a lot left to get rid of but I feel better now, my panic attack is subsiding. Maybe my nerves are on edge because of the howling blizzard outside.

Today my hobgoblin is the Paper Monster.... Junk Mail, receipts, sorting and paying bills. All good intentions but I procrastinate, feel intimidated, overwhealmed. So I now have a bin of backlogged mail and now feel guilty for letting it "pile up" & avoiding dealing with it.

JaJaBee, Sorry you are dealing with the tooth. Hope it feels better soon!

Recovering from a tooth extraction this morning. Went much better than I expected, but not at the top of my game. Going to be a rather self-indulgent day. Got my feet up, my laptop on my lap and I'm binge-watching prerecorded shows in between little cat naps. Actually, life isn't too bad.

Working on getting over the result of my dental visit yesterday. After popping the cap off my crown I was able to get in the same afternoon. But what I expected to be a quick fix -- the recementing of the crown, that wasn't the verdict. An X-ray showed that the root was experiencing a "slow and quiet death". So, I've got an appointment on the 24th for an extraction and bridge fitting. About $3,500 after what insurance I have left for the year after my implant on the other side of my mouth earlier this year.

Well, nobody promised life to be easy on us seniors!

Today my husband was attempting to make an order online. The credit card was not accepted and we received a call from MasterCard alerting us to a possible fraudulent use.
He then went online to check our account and screwed up the logon, thus locking us out of the account access. No problem. We'll just call them.

RIght! It's hard to get a human to talk to these days. Following the instructions of the ARU, everything was going OK until we were asked for our security word. Well, couldn't remember the word, couldn't find it written down and the hint didn't seem to help.

A long story short. Everything we tried kept stopping at asking us that security word -- until I was able to finally guess the correct answer. My fault for not having it written down in a place I could find (organizing my passwords, etc. has been on my to-do list for a very long time - guess it's time to get to it).

Another thing I've had reinforced -- don't let DH type account logins!

I slept in... again. It's because I was up super super late... again. I have later shifts the next two weeks so it's too easy to fall back into old habits, even though getting up earlier means I'm better set up for the day and can work my freelance gig to make my weekly $ goals. *sighs*

So much has changed!

My parents visit went really well. They were pretty happy to see where we are and how well we are doing.
My MIL came down Mon-Thur this week and we found her a place in a retirement village. This is a huge blessing and her whole family is relieved. Good visit there too.
My oldest had band camp Mon-Thur from 8am to 8pm. Today is a relax and no stress day for all of us. This weekend will be pretty quiet with some minor projects at home.

Today I am just going to rest and regroup from all the busyness of this past week. Feeling a bit tired and worn out physically and emotionally.

Be blessed in that situation, Tina.
You sound like you've got some control over that situation.

Good for you - giving up soda. It's HARD!

My back is better, but now I'm frazzled with a lot of stuff going on.
*my MIL sold her house and will be joining us in NC in less than a month - need to find her an apartment ASAP
*She fell this morning and had the paramedics come to check her out (she has an alarm she wears for emergencies)She's okay now, but still...
*my parents are coming from OH this weekend for a visit (lots of issues there, but I have healthy boundaries in place)
*still trying to get settled in our new home

One step at a time!

Good for you!
I love love love Dr. Pepper! Dr. Pepper helped me gain the weight I have. lol.

For about 6 months I've been doing Diet Dr. P, it CERTAINLY is not as good, but still.
Right now until my September doctor appointment, I am not drinking pop during the week days, but will allow diet D.P. sometime on the weekend. But probably never more than ONE regular.

Today, my muscles are SORE!!! On Saturday I tried to complete my 80th MILE, but ran out of time and missed it by 4 laps.
THAT meant that I had to do THOSE four today, before doing the normal 32 laps!
So, I did 36 full laps today. And I sure feel it!
I'll certainly sleep well tonight!

Physically, I struggle with my arthritic hip every day.

As for my cravings, it is diet Dr. Pepper and diet Coke. They are not just speaking to me, they are really yelling my name. But since it has been 1.5 wks without - I am holding fast.

My family Coat of Arms ties in the back; is that normal?

ow, get better soon!

My arm still hurts, but is not as noticeable. Had a good day with it yesterday.

Today I am facing 11 binders full of old school stuff that I'm filtering down into ONE. They belong to my oldest daughter. I'm trying to streamline everything of my school stuff, so I have plenty of fresh space as I go through my mom's photos and genealogy stuff.
I'm going to have to celebrate when I'm done!

A strained right wrist. They says it's a good thing for the brain to do things with your non-dominant hand, but it sure does slow one down!

Wow Jajabee, those are all wonderful causes. Mother wears hearing aids and they are very very expensive. Glasses are a lot but nothing like hearing aids.

Lindy, About our local Lions Club: We provide free eye exams and glasses thru our town's social service dept for the underprivileged and help with hearing aids. We help support a summer camp for children with Type1 diabetes and contribute to Domestic Violence shelter and several other non-profits in our community including an organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding to those with disabilities.

Those are where the bulk of our fundraising goes, then a number of smaller or non-repetitive ones such as when someone loses their house to a fire we can help with furnishings. Then, as with all other Lions Club, part of our dues go to the international portion of the club to help save eyesight, fight measles and diabetes and aid for natural disasters.

Thanks for asking.

What do ya think...
I just got my reminder notice that it's time to get my yearly mammogram...
should I be concerned that it concludes with...
"we look forward to seeing you again soon" ?????

McCali, hope your electric is back up and running soon. We get use to our blessings of modern technology and hate it when it's interrupted.
Jajabee, sorry to hear of your fatigue. Hope your normal energy returns soon. I'm sure the Lions sale is very worth the effort. What types of things do they put the $ towards? I'm thinking here they help with glasses for children. I don't know what else.

We lost our electricity for 6 hours a week-and-a-half ago. It can be annoying. I understand there are people in New England who have been without for a week now and were supposed to be hit with another major storm yesterday. I remember the week I spent without electricity in the middle of winter during an ice storm in Connecticut back in the mid 70's. Hope yours returns soon!

Hope it's just the fatigue associated with fighting shingles rather than old age, but I'm finding this Lions yard sale more exhausting than usual. Thankfully today is the last day of it. I'll be happy to be home all next week with no appointments scheduled. Just possibly facing a few inches of snow tomorrow night.
