Who cares what anyone thinks. You hired someone that just means you took initiative to get something done. And that's the important thing it is getting done.

I have bought things back from Goodwill before. We donated a popcorn popper because we thought we lost the top. Then found the top. lol

If not that just means you were destined to find a better pair.

Go to GoodWill and see if they have them out and buy them back---at least the money will go for a good cause.

Exaclty correct
it is no different than hiring apersonal trainer

so why is there such a big to doo when someone hires a personal organizer?

oo you're a hoarder - so does that seem to imply someone is lazy ??

no one says ooo you are an alcoholic -- you poor thing??

seems to be double standards on whatever a persons issue is sometimes ---

well she comes again on 29th sat for 2 1/2 hours and then maybe i have her on april 1st --
i am debating that it seems too soon of a time --

sure is nice when i come in the door now and that spot where all the coats are -- is virtually empty of stuff -- its weird LOL

and my bookshelf in living room is ---- clear of stuff on the floor around it
i just like staring at that space its soonice

i gotta shred the personal papers from 1998 to 2006 -- dont need them -

today i got a container to store the sheets the few i got left now and the towels --

got a couple of photo frames that hold up to 9 photos -- each
and a hat box my cousin got hats for me in Los angelos now i got somepleace to store them -- nice and neat --

keeping ont op of washing dishes - is my biggest challenge

i just figure oo i will clean that later -- and then later doesnt happen for 5 more days!

its so nice to have clean counters :) ----

thanks for the encouragement - it feels like the right thing to do - kickstart

and it does go faster with someone helping me :)
best money i ever spent --

once i get it all tidied up i will feel ready to move to a new space :)
and everyting is organized to go with me :)

Healthnut, do not feel bad for hiring an organizer. I have paid for a few in the past. I think your price paid is very reasonable. I paid almost twice that for one of the organizers I hired in the past. Now I look back and think that was expensive but still worth it. I was so desperately drowning in clutter. She helped me clear up my condo quite a bit. It gave me so much energy and ambition when thanks to her help I had a clearer place that I applied to and started studying for an advanced degree.

Sometimes we just need outside help to give us a kickstart or to keep us going and staying on track. People hire personal trainers, physical therapists, etc when they need help. I think of it as the same thing. Totally worth it when you need it.

Sounds like you're on your way, keep it going!

Unfortunately, we cannot chose our family, but we can our friends! And they can be closer than family.

no this friends is having major health problems ever since 2011 -- when i said well whatever you sell each one for the moeny goes to the estate - this frined go right close to my face and said well of course dont be stupid ! --- i never likded this friend of my sisters --- and my mother had bad vibes of this friend all her life --
this firend of mysisters is a bully and so is my sisters

Some people need help getting started---and if you can afford it, good for you. And what is trash to others can be treasure to someone else---no one should judge what is important to others---and how dumb that the other sister has those in storage if you want them. Sibling Rivalry is such a pain! And they have no value in storage! Just junk at her house! I have a collection of Holly Hobbie dolls---and they are on display---I love them but my mom thinks it is silly---it is my house and my stuff---so I enjoy them.
I totally understand how having someone helping you encourages you to get rid of stuff---seen it when Peter Walsh had the Clean Sweep show---just more motivation and it does move faster. I loved that show and it really motivated me into getting rid of a lot of my clutter.

Paying an organizer is strictly your business. You don't have to "admit" to anything. You are doing this for you, in the way you see fit.

Look to yourself for approval. You've worked hard to declutter, now look back at what you've done and be proud. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

Take pride in the figurines you do have, and let them remind you of your Mom's achievements, and your own, and all that is to come.

yes i will admit that i am paying an organizer to help me sort my stuff
donated lots of books cds, dvds, linens, pillows, blankets etc. last week

this week mostly books -- not as much stuff this week

yes I am paying her 10 hours - $50 an hour

yet i posted pics of my clean organized areas --
on facebook and my sister the nerve of her - she said she still sees stress
she referred to these avon ablees (our mother sold avon for 25 yrs and did well at it - earning these small versions of avon lady figurienes and the original tall size as well - )
sadly my older sister had the larger ones -- and will not seem to part with them i do not see why they are sitting in a box in her garage since 2011!!
I only managed to snag 1 of the larger size ones -- so .. annoys me -- that i dont have the larger ones to match the small ones i own now --
so that being said my younger sister referred to them as "dolls"
i told her they are FIGURINES NOt dolls -- she says "you sure sensitive about your dolls"

i said they are FIGURINES not dolls!!! -- i said sorry i shared this photo with you -- least you could said that looks really nice --- but this younger sister is a bit of a snob -- she figures get rid of stuff if you dont use -- it -- well there are some things I am NOT willing to get rid of -- sorry ---
wish i could post pics of what i done :(
