I have had luck with Swagbucks. I use my bucks for Amazon gift cards, and that helps towards buying whatever I may want or need. :)

I haven't hit 20K on Achievment yet. This boot is inhibiting my activity level. Gotta eat better AND track it as well as drink more water!

I am doing surveys with a couple of places online. And tonight I did an in person survey.

So there's a website called ACHIEVMENT. (Spelled funny...please note!)

And you can link your fitness tracker, your MFP, answer quizzes & you are awarded points.
Once you get to 10,000 points, you get a $10 reward. They will allow you to donate to a good cause or they will pay your PayPal account. Since I'm NOT Canadian officially, I do not know if this program is valid in Canada. Right now I have about 18,000 points. I pay for my Girls trip to the OBX in October with PayPal. So my goal is to be able to give my friend ALL of her money by using points!!!

I hear ya on the cooking for one thing. One thing I've learned is that you can either make ONE thing several different ways...so for instance you cook several chicken breasts or even thighs at the same time, but you use different seasonings or sauces so they don't all necessarily taste the same. Or you make a small pork loin for Sunday. Then Mon & Tuesday you could have port slices for lunch OR you can shred the leftovers for pork BBQ for dinners the rest of the week. The other thing I'm not great about is let's say you make chicken & salsa in the crock pot. You eat it on Wednesday. You know you're going to have it again on Thursday. But that's your stopping point. So you scoop out your Thursday portion & then you portion the rest into a few freezer bags & label them & then you have already cooked food for later in the month.

The fruits & veggies ARE more expensive but canned & frozen are less so. We can garden in "containers" if we are short on space. We can do CSAs (community supported agriculture) to buy produce over the warmer months that is locally grown. Or you can shop twice a week instead of only once & use the shopping trips as a way to get in extra steps!!!

MO this is great, especially as a single person cooking for one is a challenge, but it is even more so when you are eating healthy and your fruits and veggies don't last that long, so you are basically throwing money away :(

I love the garden idea, my neighbor (we live in a duplex) said we wanted to do a little garden this year in the backyard!



Weightloss is a lonely battle with yourself, because only you can change your body!

Haha I am definitely a beginner. I buy some items as small plants and some as seeds. It takes a few months so you mostly save money in August and September, but it can be pricey to buy everything too. I did follow my mom around when I was a kid and got some ideas, how to dig the trench to plant the seeds and to prop up the peas so they can grow up a lattice. But I have a long way to go. The birds ate my spinach and peas for the first 2 months. Once I put some bird netting on it was better. Also I tried broccoli but I waited too long to pick it and apparently it all turns to flowers once its done and you miss the eating window. So I have already learned more for next year. I plant cucumbers and zucchini in my front flower bed. then my Dad and husband built me the boxes below for the back yard. I love them so much, no pressure on the back to work in it, the dog won't eat anything either! we will build one twice as long this year.

I have done some herbs in small pots in the house and I got a small discounted lime tree in the fall. I hope that will produce a few limes in the summer and that will definitely save money since I like to put lime in my water. but the internet helps with ideas and any questions so just start small and see what you like so you can keep trying again each year. Just the calming affect of it is great to!

I'm not sure if we have apps like that or options in Canada so I will have to do some digging (we don't have Walgreens, but that is a super cool option). We have Superstore here and they have come out with a points card that you can use at Esso gas stations as well. I signed up for their credit card (emergencies only) but it gave me 75,000 points (that's $75!!) and I make sure to load the offers that come each week by email. I try to go on days were you can get extra points for certain items as well. I have saved up $140 in free groceries that I use on months that I am short on money, or if I want to try a new recipe with extra ingredients.

We also do all our meat shopping at Costco. We splurged one year and bought a vacuum sealer. it is a life saver. now I only buy meat a couple times a year (about $400 worth), we separate all the chicken, ground beef, etc and vacuum seal which prevents freezer burn. It is very helpful to always have good meats on hand (luckily we have a good sized deep freeze). Costco also has lots of fish options that come individually vacuumed sealed. This way we don't save and it is portion controlled early.

I am always looking for ways to save especially on groceries (in the summer I have my own small garden) so i can't wait to see more ideas.

OK Girlies--I don't think a budget is in & of itself a bad thing. And most of us could use a little more frugality in our lives. But with a twist...we should be happy about being frugal NOW in order to have something we want LATER. (OK...yeah I'm talking to myself!!!)

So what are some wonderful ways you have found of helping your budget while still eating healthy (er!) & exercising. This can include recipes for inexpensive meals or websites you use to save or earn money! If you just so happen to be a money WHIZ, please help us Sisters out!!!

1. I've mentioned before that I linked my Fitbit to my Walgreens account. My steps go toward my discounts & coupon levels.
2. I have NOT looked into this yet...but a friend of mine is saving $$$ for her Disney vacation using swagbucks. I haven't looked into it yet...but I'm about to!!! If she can save money for Disney...I'm hoping to be able to save for a trip as well!
