Yea for more flowers, Dorothy! Garden departments in this area are pretty much cleared out. We still have shortages of cleaners in the stores here too. I don't have hanging baskets or petunias in my garden this year. I tried to search online, but flowers took me to plastic things for graves, and bedding plants took me to mattresses.

You both have some great projects going. My older sons now have online programming, so I have an additional 3 hours to supervise on my end. Middle schooler has done okay with online summer Academy so far...it's a little more tedious to find his assignments than during the school year, but he has gotten to the right class at the right time, and it seems that 1/3 of his peers are still confused about that.

Pleasant weather this week....we had rain on Sunday, but hubby didn't really want to do much anyway, so it wasn't a big deal. I was able to get football missiles for Father's day fun, and they played with them yesterday morning.

Kid needs more asdistance...bye for now!

Janet - shh - I picked up more flowers over the weekend - I am such a sucker this time of year.

I will probably make an appointment for a massage - it sounds like heaven right now.

Allergies have been playing havoc with my eyes.,

We are having rain right now - which we desperately need so probably won't get around to yard work until tomorrow.

Massage helped the leg this morning and mainly helped me know which muscle was the culprit and once again it's the I-Band. Will need to focus on keeping that loosened and iced. Sinus headache is still hanging on, but thankfully I can get it to ease. Wondering if it may be eye strain too as my eyes seem to be very irritated as well. Usually have my eyes checked in August.

You have been very busy in the yards lately Dorothy! I still haven't bought my flowers for the front patio. emoticon

Busy week ahead for me - I need to go clean the cabin tonight, tomorrow I am getting pedi -- finally, Wednesday I have another appointment and Thursday is our monthly ladies night out that has been like 3 months late now. I also have guests arriving on Thursday at the cabin.

I am thinking I need to make an appointment for a massage - my neck has been bothering me - not sure if a massage will work or I should go to a chiro but the massage sounds better.

Raked and seeded the lawn yesterday and watered it. Hopefully we will get rain the next couple of days,.

Sounds like a good day at your house Janet - Mike and Michael worked on Michael's car all day - they changed the oil and sanded and painted the hood of his car,.

Hope Maegann got rid of her migraine.

I had a quiet day. Online worship, planner time, paid work and personal email and SP time. Maegann was home with a migraine and slept most of the day. Isaac has been doing his own thing. Tim finished up working on his car and getting my patched tire on the van before beginning the tile grout project. It looks very nice. I'll get pictures once there is more done.

Tomorrow I will do some laundry, mop the kitchen floor, plan meals for the week and ????

Janet - Mike is still getting treatments every couple of weeks for his MGA - so we will be going for a while. and they out a temp port in a couple of months ago because his veins are shot so now they want to put in a more permanent one so our next trip down will probably be an over night trip.

Such hard decisions what to do for schooling but I agree - I think Isaac will do better going to school. For both of your sake.

So hard when our kids become adults and there routines change so much. But it sounds like Meagann is doing well and making smart choices.

Finally got around to getting my clothes put away and the sheets changed. Also mopped the floors and ran the sweeper - it is looking better in here. Had internet put into the cabin yesterday so I had to go up there and hang around for a couple of hours but it gave me a chance to pick up sticks. They are everywhere and usually when I am mowing I just pile them at the bases of the trees so yesterday they made it to the burn pile. Also worked in the kitchen and prepped some food. It is so time consuming and so hard for me to get around to doing when there is so much else that needs my attention.

I woke up with a headache again. Not sure if it is sinus or muscle tension. I did sleep for a bit first thing and then got busy on the bedroom reorganization that is basically storage right now. It was good to find out what all was still in there after Tim and Isaac had just thrown a bunch of stuff in there when he was clearing another section for flooring. It looks so much nicer and Isaac even came in and cleaned his gaming area in that room. Swept, washed the table, etc. I was surprised!

Isaac's being much better today and I am so thankful since it's just been the two of us today. Maegann left for work about 10 and Tim is doing fencing with Wendell. M&M are going strong and he really has matured and interacts with all of us so much better. He will actually come and spend time with us talking when Maegann is still on her way home. That never happened before.

Lori~Is your area still seeing a lot of COVID? That’s going to be a difficult transition for your family next month.

Dorothy~Back to Pittsburgh for you. Is this for a follow-up appointment?

Unfortunately Isaac is still storming around today and fighting anything I say to him. Started over one assignment still needing to be submitted. Been kicking around going the online school route for Junior year, but this helps remind me that I can't do it day in and day out with him. I am going to make sure his IEP reflects that his aid is needed to keep him on task with assignments and making sure things are being turned in on time. They aren't there just to be his lunch buddy.

Maegann was out until about 1am again, but she has had a great 3 days off even though she only saw Kim for about 4 hours on Wednesday evening. Kim cancelled out at the last minute on the next two days' plans and one of those she had suggested. I am saying "answered prayer" as I know Kim has not been the best influence so I'm thankful she is showing M that their friendship isn't that high of a priority unless she is in control of it all. Yesterday M's "crew" went roller skating and then out for dinner at a Japanese restaurant. Her crew was Michaell, Jaycob, Hannah and Emily. Both of the girls are from work. She then went to the gym again with M & J about 11pm. Suggested tonight she stay home or at least have an earlier night as she needs rest. Yeah, good luck mom! LOL For now she just has orientation at JCPenney again to finish it up. It was a LONG orientation process, but she needed to learn their way of doing things.

I honestly don't know what I will do this afternoon as I just have zero motivation. I think dealing with Isaac this week has worn me out.

Janet - sounds like Maegann is getting quiet the social life - that is nice.

Michael had a problem with handing in homework. So frustrating.

Poor Elmsworth - so hard watching our pets get old.

Lori - so hard giving up so much this summer. This weekend would have been our company picnic and my grand daughters dance recital. Miss doing all of these activities.

Hubby and I are heading to Pittsburgh today. I managed to get the cabin all mowed on Tuesday and Thursday. Mowed our lawn on Wednesday and went to the dentist.

We are not planning any camping trips...with COVID and high risk sons who try to lick every surface, it doesn't seem like a good idea. And hubby is planning to return to work in July. We will live separately when he does, because he is just such a welcoming guy, and he invites every germ in his zip code to come in and have party! Then, he insists he is not sick...and while that is tolerable with a typical cold, covid makes his usual behavior rather risky for the rest of us. I enjoy the camper, so it is sad, even though I know it's for the best right now.
Humid day today... and some much needed rain tonight. My garden will enjoy it.
Really tired and I keep falling asleep.

Lori~What a nice gift to receive from church.

Dorothy~Any golfing happening yet?

Woke up to rain, but thankfully it cleared off when Faith arrived to do the windows. They look so beautiful once she finishes. Too bad it is only an annual treat! Was thankful she easily got the window with hard water cleaned of it all.

Nothing much on my to do list today now that paid work is out of the way so once SP time is finished I'll go prep supper and then maybe do some reading.

Ellsworth's biopsy showed inflammation and infection so nothing worse is going on for him which is good. Helps us know some natural things to add into his life to help fight the infection along with the antibiotic. We won't do any of the suggested surgeries at the infection site though as they are just way too expensive for such an old dog who is slowly fading in so many physical ways.

Maegann had a fun evening with friends last night. Started out with just Laken and her boy Owen and then Michaell joined them once he was finished at work and with some other things he needed to do first. At some point Kim and crew joined them at the park and about 9 Laken went home to get Owen to bed and Kim needed to buy some groceries so M&M went to dinner at Roadhouse. They met up again with Kim and crew afterwards and just hung out talking for a couple of hours. I'm guessing they'll all be at it again tonight doing something somewhere.

Isaac had to get his school assignments done today and one he needed to resubmit as the note on it said 0/18 points so he either got everything wrong or had submitted something incorrectly. He said he found he'd sent the wrong thing. Why is the submit piece so difficult for him? This is why he had lower scores at school (when they were there). Doesn't see the "turn it in" as part of being done. Odd.

Janet - hope the tire pressure was resolved. My tire pressure light always comes on when there is a difference in the temps??

Lori - how fun that will be. Nice that the church sent it.

Will you get out camping this summer?? I use to love camping growing up.

Mowed at the cabin last night. I will mow here tonight as I have a dental appointment and tomorrow back to the cabin if it is not raining,

Hot day here...so hubby decided ton wash the camper. The younger 2 enjoyed helping and youngest was SO excited when our special delivery came from church! It was a tote bag filled with things to use for summer jam--at home this year. We will do the activities over the next 5 weeks. Already watched the first video lesson and did an activity. It will be fun to continue.

Well, bedtime now,,

Happy Tuesday!

My day got derailed and I am waiting at the tire shop due to low pressure. 2 hour wait unless they can get vehicles out quicker. I'm outside enjoying the cool air, but wishing I'd brought my Kindle.

Janet - I either need to either get a massage or a see chrio - my neck muscles are so tight.

Sounds like a pleasant and productive day for you,.

Lori - that is one way to get healthy and loose weight - way to go. My hubby eats like yours - what ever is available and since I am not here all day he does not do that good. I am thinking of checking with the area for aging and see if I can get him meals on wheels - it might help a little. Trouble is there are lots of healthy options - he is just lazy.

Got the cabin cleaned last night - now I need to get it mowed - dentist appointment tomorrow after work.

Dorothy--a van full sounds like fun...it's been a long time since we have had that!

My hubby would never eat healthy on his own. He doesn't see the point...but he is generally rather lazy, so tends to eat what is handy...and during quarantine, I have provided healthy meals, so that's what he gets. And some things have simply been due to the convenience/storage--I can store popcorn easier than chips, so we have a lower calorie choice that is more plentiful due to pantry space :).

Janet--yea for massage! I miss my chiro, but losing a few lbs in quarantine has helped, so I don't feel too bad.

We have had a great streak of pleasant weather..until noon today, when t got much warmer. My garden is looking pretty good...

This is our in-between week...oldest son has online social our every morning, but summer school has not started yet, so the younger ones have a little more free time. They still have online karate a few times/week. Middle schooler is my most creative kid and he made a 'cross bow from a hanger, rubber band and pen that no longer writes...with a bit of duct tape. It does shoot, but thankfully, does not have enough force to be an actual weapon.

Well, I finally got some documents to scan and attached to email, so I am headed to bed!

Dorothy~Sounds like a fun day with family!

Had a wonderful massage this morning -- so thankful my regular therapist was back. Then I ended up taking some documents to Maegann at work that she needed for her orientation at Penney's and had forgotten. Once home I turned back around and went across town to pick up sandwiches for the three of us. Finally got to stay home around 1pm and got through the little bit of paid work I had waiting, tackled laundry and now finishing up SP time before I go take a nap.

I hope everything works out for the best for everyone involved.

Glad you enjoyed game night.

Lori - I with my hubby would get his sugar under control - it is causing havoc with his health.

Hope the boys enjoyed there karate advancement.

I try so hard to get to bed early every night as I get up early. Sometimes my mind cooperates and sometimes it does not.

Had a good day with my family yesterday and got to see all of my grandchildren. I had a full van - my mom, my hubby and Michael all went with me,.

Lori~Congrats on reaching your sleep goal. I spend time catching up on news and doing some leisure reading and sometimes that goes too late!

M&M came over tonight for a game night after the graduation bbq and we had a good talk alone with Michaell when Maegann went to the convenience store for some tortilla chips. That was definitely something different from him and much appreciated. We enjoyed a game night with some yummy snacks Maegann provided. Tayler is not handling this well at all as he has very strong negative feelings about M going back to Michaell. He found out tonight when M posted a photo on her SnapChat story. Feel badly for the hit this seems to be on his emotions, but I am glad he has Caetarena and her baby girl Amelia to focus on. She asked him to be the father figure in Amelia's life and he is loving every moment of his "new family". If he didn't have this and a great new job I would definitely be concerned about him.

Tomorrow morning is a massage to start the day! So needed!

Janet--the floor looks great. Sounds like some of the teen drama at your house has calmed a little.

Dorothy--that's lots of mowing! Definitely tiring.

My hubby has lost about 20 lbs and his blood sugar has been more stable since we started quarantine. He has helped in the garden for the first time ever, and doesn't have much opportunity to sneak sweets because the kids catch him, so he seems to be a little more aware of what is happening around him. Interesting the difference a healthy diet can make!

Karate advancement today for the younger 2 boys via zoom. They are both red belts, and the program is more challenging as they progress.

I finally made my goal of being in bed with my foot off by 11 pm...now, I should probably put my tablet away and get some sleep.

I had a little more paid work than expected this morning, but I got it done and now I'm just wanting a nap. I was up again until about 2:30 (head wouldn't stop thinking) and then up at 8 as Maegann's backup alarm. I knew she was exhausted as well and had a long day ahead of her. Walmart from 9-2 and then JCP orientation/training from 3 until 5 or 6.

Anyway, motivation has totally slipped away so I'm listening to my favorite 70's Lite Rock Radio on Pandora while Sparking. Then I'll take a nap!

Tim got a lot more tile down and just left to go buy a new tile cutter. Found the one we've had for 20 years broken and he's to the point now he has to start putting in the cut pieces. It's looking nice.

Michaell saga - They have been spending quite a bit of time together this week "on the sly". She finally fessed up last night late by text and honestly I pretty much knew most of it from my mom radar. I'm with you though Tina. Be so busy that their time is limited. They are creative though. He's been meeting up with her at the end of her night shift so they can just talk and from the answers she's given me I can tell they have definitely been clearing the air about everything from the past and learning about their lives from the past 1 1/2 years. It really was the most difficult of the big breakups she went through so I am not surprised that she wants to give him another chance. And since she's been "with him" she is happier and has been getting along very well with Isaac. They've been going for drives and/or sitting on the porch swing together to talk and laugh. If nothing else, that is a HUGE positive as they've not done this since they were itty bitty!

Dorothy~Maybe a night at the cabin will help with your need to get away just a little.

Lori~I remember shooting off bottle rockets with my brother! So much fun!

Today was not too exciting. Cleaning out computer file folders and making trips to the vet. Ellsworth is home and we are waiting for lab reports as they did the biopsy this time as the cyst area inside his mouth was still showing way too much infection and his labs confirmed infection. The biopsy is to see if we missed anything more serious. Regardless, if the second round of stronger antibiotics doesn’t clear this up we can’t throw more money at him as surgery is the next option. As Ell is almost 13 it just gains him a tiny amount of time, but his quality of life is already declining in various “old age” ways. Should know next week on the biopsy.

Tonight Tim is getting the tile pieces down in the dining area and it’s going to be nice. Helps that I chose larger squares so it goes quicker. Pretty sure that’s what the weekend project is for him. I have a small amount of paid work to do and then ??? No purpose in cleaning floors and I’ll be in his way if I clean bathrooms and the laundry facilities are in the garage so I guess I get to relax!

Craziness abounds these days! I am concerned about the loosening of restrictions too...well, not really the loosening as much as the death toll that could result...sigh...but weird and crazy sermon to be the order of the day right now...Janet--I think you're right that the insane is so loud that it covers up the sane ideas--the louder shouters are in our faces, and since it is an election year, they seem to have great influence!
Summer quarantine will still have some school-like activities. Church is recording summer Jam lessons that we will be able to access, and middle school programming will be live online on Sunday nights. Middle schooler will also do summer school, and they will have zoom sessions for an hour or two 4 mornings a week. My older 2 will have some virtual programming from their day programs as well, so I am likely to be running laps to supervise each one.
Cooler weather continues through today--I am enjoying it and since we have a school break now, it's great timing to just play outside. Hubby helped the younger ones build a bottle rockets, so they have had a great time with that.
My time is about up and I hear shuffling in the kitchen, so I better go.

Janet - I agree - crazy what is going on in Seattle and it needs to stop now.

I hope you are able to figure out what is going on with Ellsworth - so worrisome

Been tired and dragging all week - I think I need a vacation but do not see one in the near future.

This weather has been following the same patter all year - since January we have cold days that build up to warm days and then it drops down to cool days again and then starts building up again. I was so thankful that we had relief yesterday and it is suppose to be somewhat cool all weekend.

Mowed the one neighbors yard last night and help another neighbor with a fence she wanted up in her yard. Thinking of heading to the cabin tonight to clean as I have renters arriving tomorrow - may just spend the night then I will not have to run back and forth.

Last weeks defeat is a gateway to many victories.

Dorothy~I'm glad the doctor went to the shock factor with Mike and hopefully he will respond after he enjoys those Peppermint Pattys. emoticon I have been concerned for you with all the current events in NY and surrounding states. Hopefully people will be smart with the restrictions lifting as we know there must be more sane people we just can't see them as the insane ones are so loud. I can't believe the protest in Seattle right now. I say barricade them off and let them have what they want in their little piece of town. No police. No military. No medical. No food. No electricity. Have fun crazy people. emoticon

I slept in a little this morning and am now just catching up and cleaning out emails. I've made some doctor appointments and have some filing to do. Ellsworth's mouth was bleeding in a huge way again this morning so I've been cleaning up after him off an on. Thankfully it appears to have slowed down a lot. I called the vet as he's been off his meds for a week and we agreed to another drop-off appointment tomorrow morning and we'll do the labs to see what is going on. It was odd that there was no outside indication that things were going bad again for him where the cyst had been at first. Glad I can stay inside for the most part as it to be another near triple digit day and then for the weekend back down to mid 60s again. Seems to be a weekly trend for June!

Lori - I am not raising little ones anymore so I have more time to get things done. Sad thing is I feel like I am more busy than ever and wonder how things got done when they were all home.

The parade sounds like fun and it sounds like you made it even more extra special.

It was very hot and humid the last two days so I did very little. I was sweating just sitting still. But we had the tail end of a storm go through last night and it cooled everything off so much better now.

Janet - I do not envy you for boy drama - I am so glad that we are well beyond that - it is so draining.

I hope bible study went well.

I took Mike to the Dr yesterday and I was even scared when we left there. He really lectured him. Told him he never would have had a stroke if he would take his diabetes serious - told him it was all up to him and only him. Told him the next time he might not be so lucky. And I asked him to explain what I meant when I told him that enough was enough and he asked him if he wanted to be shocked back to life or put on oxygen to live - that he better make up his mind and figure out when enough was enough because if he did not change his diet that was the direction he was headed. Wow - so he went to Walmart last night with our some and bought some peppermint pattys - good grief!

Unbelievable - ti was challenged in court against Governor Wolf to have restrictions in place in PA for the covid and they won - they are taking away all of our restrictions. I want to know who is going to be responsible when this all blows up in there faces.

I am so glad the bus parade was so much fun! Summer quarantine.... I decided to have Isaac do both summer class needs by distance learning. Figured it would go easier for him.

I spent my day on paid work as a family phoned and we finally got things reviewed so I could work on the new documents. Their turn and then I can finish it up.

We are beginning our family Bible study time again tonight. Isaac was finally ready to do this as a willing participant! He chose the book of Psalms to go through. I think I'll pull out our gratitude journals too. I still have them from a year ago.

And once again the boy drama is entering the house. emoticon Maegann dropped this question on me as she was leaving for work today: "How would you feel about me spending some time with Michaell?" This is the young man she was with most of her time at public high school (homecoming date, etc.) and it was an ugly ending when they broke up after she stopped going there and finished up that same Fall through homeschool. I don't know how I feel about it, but honestly, what can I do as they are both 18 now and have matured quite a bit. Isaac is not taking it well at all so this will be part of our bible study time tonight as Maegann is at work.

The bus parade was so fun. They had 5 buses with a few staff waving out of the windows on each bus (spaced apart, of course), followed by more staff in cars and pickups, a police escort and then another 5 buses. The bus goes right past our house on typical school days, so we had great seats! We put our chairs out on the driveway, and middle schooler put out the patriotic pinwheels and wrote a chalk message on the driveway! It was great to see the smiling faces and be able to yell greetings to each other. They enjoyed having a picnic from the snack sack that I usually have for travel, but since we aren't going anywhere, I figured the driveway is as much 'travel' as we are going to get for now. It made for a happier day for all the kids!

Cooler weather today--So refreshing!

Now we will transition from school year quarantine to summer quarantine. We still have a few things on zoom, but not everyday.

You gals seem to be getting quite a bit accomplished! Yea for Maegann!
Last day for my middle school to check in at school. Hie homeroom teacher held a zoom meeting with a scavenger hunt and awards. My son won the scavenger hunt, and his classmates voted him 'Most likely to burst into song and dance'! He thought it was a little silly, but it really does fit his personality, and I am proud that he is just himself and his peers know him well enough to see his talent. He was Olaf in the school musical back before Christmas--seems like so long ago! He did a great job, and many school staff members told me that he stole the show!
Tomorrow the staff will parade the bus routes, so they will go past our house at lunch time. The kids are excited to have a picnic in the yard while we watch and wave.
The 2 youngest were complaining about being bored today, so I am glad the middle schooler will have summer school.

Well, showers are done, so I better start the dishwasher.

Glad they took time for some fun while they had been working hard!

My day was totally about laundry (5-6 loads) and budget reports. No idea about tomorrow other than some paid work and finishing the review part of the budgets.

Maegann is to go in Thursday to finalize her paperwork at JCP. I'll bet they plan on her starting on Sunday.

Busy busy weekend. My son in law worked all day under the cabin on Saturday running new water lines - my daughters boyfriend helped and my daughter and I mowed - the whole lot is completely mowed. They did not get it all done on Saturday - my daughter and her boyfriend and his son spent the night at our house and they went kayaking on Sunday. My son in law stayed at the cabin and hubby and I went back up on Sunday and were able to get it finished,. Michael was there off and on a well and he was able to get a lot of the wood stacked - yea!

Glad to hear that both of you and your kids are finishing up school and moving on to the next phase.,

Janet - love Tims shoes - and yea that Maegann has an answer as to when she will be working.

Lori~Sounds like the school needs are coming together. Don't you just love how these kiddos listen to someone else? We were never like that...LOL Our district's high schools are still planning on an actual ceremony on July 1. They did other things like car parades just in case the ceremonies get cancelled. Glad you're enjoying the storms. We are still having rain, but the thunder has left for now.

Dorothy~Hope you're having a great weekend.

Went for groceries first thing this morning and then we listened to two messages as we had missed last week. Now I am Sparking and watching "Remember the Titans" as I monitor the dogs. (Hadn't thought about that movie being at the heart of our current battle of black/white.) Thankfully they are both sleeping as they can't go to their doggy door as the kitchen/dining floor is wet cement. Next step will be laying the new tile. Is nice having all of that exposed scraped wood covered. This will leave the utility room as the only unfinished area so progress is being made. I loved Tim's cement shoes he built so he could walk through the floor area if necessary.

My monitoring ended with getting both dogs locked in the back yard as Ellsworth decided to take a step into the cement. I didn't even hear him get up! Thankfully nothing too damaging.

Maegann heard back from the gal at JCPenney's today and they are planning on her being there Sun-Wed once they begin onboarding staff in the next week or so. She's SO excited!

Isaac has started his first month of summer school and yesterday I got him caught up for the week. Can't believe how quickly he can get behind, but it definitely explains why things were going the way they were when he was at the school. Helps me to know how indepth I need follow his assignments once he's back there in the fall.

Tomorrow will be a mega laundry day as I have to have it all finished so Tim can empty the utility room for it's turn getting the floor ready for tile. As I've had to put it off this weekend I'll bet I have about 5-6 loads to do. emoticon Tempting to go get quarters and head to the laundromat as it would go much faster! LOL

Janet--thanks for sending the thunderstorms East! We are enjoying them now! Middle schooler said he wanted a big storm because we need something exciting--I guess a pandemic and race riots don't count for much to him!

Tech person talked to middle schooler on the phone and told him to delete some things on his school iPad--funny how 'not Mom' can get more cooperation. Once he deleted old things, he was able to watch his videos and answer the questions to get credit for the assignments. Then he decided an extra credit science activity would be good since he was already working on school. I think he is finished with the assignments...now he will have a zoom meeting on Tuesday, and the staff will parade by on Wednesday. Then he will have summer Academy starting in mid June. It will be online, but will have live teachers on zoom, so it will be interesting to see how that goes for him.

Dorothy--the graduation sounds great. Our mayor made an official proclamation that today is 2020 grad day, and the high school had an all day event when the kids could come one at a time with immediate family to hear their name called and walk across the stage. A slightly smaller school had a grad parade, and I heard of some others with drive in ceremonies. It's a good time to be creative!

Well, I better stop writing and get some sleep!

Lori~Gotta love those "dad approved" activities! LOL Sounds like school is getting closer to done.

Dorothy~I agree about the graduations. Places are trying so hard to make the time special for them.

Enjoyed thunderstorms today and the cooler temps. It made it much easier to have another zero motivation day. I almost think some of this is because I just need some escape from all the craziness of this world right now. Main thing that is getting missed is the deeper cleaning inside the house, but it's hard to want to bother with the dust that happens every night from the remodel. Maybe tomorrow.

Janet - that seems to be what is around here as well is more Hispanics - but that is up in New York state. Really where I live is mainly white. Hillbilly country - which can be frightening in its own way - lol!

I hate when I am so tired and I can not seem to fall asleep. Seems to be my week for that - my mind has been so active at night.

Lori - love it when dad can be talked into something and then does not monitor them - hahahaha! Hope you are able to get the school work finished up.

They did something fun for the graduates last night. I live near a dam. You use to be able to walk across it all of the time until 911 and it has been closed to any kinds of traffic since. I think they let the Vet motorcycle group cross it once a year. Well for graduation they had a huge parade through town and up to the dam and the graduates got to drive across the dam - I love that so much of the country has gone out of there way to make graduation ceremonies special for the kids.

Dorothy--I totally agree: we all have something...and life would be so much better if we could be more understanding of that.
Janet--the sleep is so needed...I take benadryl every night and have fewer headaches...hope it helps you sleep.

Middle schooler has missing assignments that I didn't know about...there were these videos on one class that wouldn't play, and I didn't realize they were actual assignments...thankful for a patient home room teacher. He has until Wednesday to get them turned in. 2nd grader is done and wants to do 'fun school' now, which translates into playing the computer games on his school website.

They both talked Dad in to letting them play with walkie-talkies, and then started trash talking, so I had to wage war on that...sigh...

Ready for them to go to bed and let me have time to think!

Where I grew up in Colorado we always had a lot of Hispanics and because the generalization was "mean" due to their reputation more south, that's been the main one I've lived around. They talk/feel the same as the blacks. Hispanic is still the main one in Idaho too unless you are up north by Washington. Then it is about the African Americans.

I didn't get to sleep until almost 3:30 and of course fell asleep easily about 10 after Isaac left with Meg since the house was quiet as Maegann was still sleeping. So...my day pretty much began at noon. Going to have to take a Benadryl tonight just to be sleepy at a decent time. My afternoon was a little paid work and then mainly doing stuff for Isaac's school assignments (I got him caught up today!) and fall registration and personal email, etc. No idea what I'm doing for supper, but I know the boys will be hungry.

Janet - hang in there - I am sure you will get Issac turned around.

I hear you on Tims mess. I still have a lot of Mikes stuff sitting around and as he does not seem interested in trying to figure out where to put anything its all on my shoulders. It is hard and frustrating. At least Tims mess is positive.

Lori - I have always lived in a small town and have not been around a lot of minorities so the few that have always lived around here are always treated like everyone else. A lot of the areas around us seem to be filling up with more Mexicans that any other minority and I do see a lot of prejudice there. I guess every group no mater what has some kind of prejudice and I guess that is why I struggle so much with one minority. Even being a white women in the area I live in is so hard as we are still considered a 2nd class citizen and it makes me so angry. So I guess we all have our struggles.

I hope your week gets better - what a way for all of the students to end there school year but it simply amazes me how everyone has gone out of there way to try and make it special for everyone. I see graduations across the country being made special including here. And our dance studio still put on performances for the parents. One class at a time was brought in and even though the parents could not go into the studio they were still able to see there student perform. It makes my heart warm to see how people have really worked hard to make a bad situation special.

I hope the karate app gets worked out.

I did some recycling last night and it felt so good to be out and about. I have not been to Lakewood since the shutdown began. And even thought there were many stores still closed it just felt good to be out doing something some what normal. Today hubby and I head to Pittsburgh for a treatment.

Dorothy--I think it's hard for us to accept the term 'white privilege' since we have all had times that are hard and it's likely that everyone has been misjudged at times, regardless of color. However, for most of us, that is a small amount of our life...for black men, it is every day, all the time, and being treated as sub-human changes the human brain and causes even more problems. It really is normal to assume that people we know are like us, and will think and behave like us, but we really know SO little about each other...and that not knowing but assuming we know is at the root of many problems. Sad how disconnected we have been, even before social distancing!
When I was in elementary school, a black family moved into our neighborhood. A few months and several broken bones later, they left. How do kids who have experienced that kind of abuse from neighhbors grow up? It's likely they feel quite differently about life than we do. I don't think we need to apologize for the way we look, whether it's skin color or anything else, but we do need to be aware of the vast differences that are present in the amazing variety of humans around us. I think it's a struggle on all sides, because we each have our own unique perspective.

Janet-I think lack of focus is a pretty normal thing right now--there is only so much a human brain can hold! I find that I can focus for short periods of time, but I really need to pace myself and give myself grace and accept that I am doing what I am able to do...and it won't all get done...and my house tells the tale of that!

Emotional week here--took middle schooler to school to get his locker things and return books...frst time I have worn shoes since April! It was good to see real live faces--even with masks, we could see happy eyes of the teachers who were bringing bags out of the school. We were the last of 12 groups that came over 3 days--1200 students--and teachers were still cheering us on! I imagine they are sleeping well this week!!!

We have had problems with the karate app and kids have been registered for the wrong classes all week...ugh! I have been assured that it is fixed and karate is at 6:30 tonight, so I better go get some supper ready for this gang!

Dorothy~I really need to dust, sweep and mop but every night Tim is doing some floor demo that just covers it all up again so I've put it off until he's finished for sure. Stay safe in Pittsburgh!

My day is much better for focus and I have managed to get another plan submitted, Isaac's school assignment "to do" list made (he's already behind 2 assignments on day 4 - UGH) and Sparking is almost finished. I'm thinking a power nap with Auggie sounds good.

Totally follow your thoughts easily about all this stuff going on and you're right, it's much worse in other places. Both kids are doing better today, but they know to be extra careful right now with their actions and words.

My day was not that productive as focus was just gone. It's all good though as I did get the one plan written that was needed and a load of laundry accomplished. There's always tomorrow for other things on the list. LOL

Lori - I am glad you family is safe. And it sounds like you have a good plan in place.

It is so sad with all of the looting and destroying of businesses that has gone on and I am afraid some of the neighborhoods will never recover.

It scares me with the covid as well - I hope it does not flare back up.

Janet - I struggle with the term of white privilege. Being a white women in america is not what it is cracked up to be. In the area that I live in it is still the men that run the business and women are still looked at as 2nd class citizens. It infuriates me. And I worry all of the time about Michael being out and about - he has gotten pulled over by the cops just because of his age. They have searched his card and found nothing and it infuriates me. So II really struggle. And I am pretty sure there are plenty of whites that get killed by police as well. People struggle all over this country no matter what race. But our struggles compared to many other countries are nothing. Oh well - it is just my thoughts.

I am glad that Isaac is doing well and hopefully Maegann will be all right.

I got another load of mulch last night and I am almost done now with my yard. Only a little left to go. So if I get another load this weekend I can finish here and take the rest to the cabin. We are having a work bee there this weekend trying to get the water going.

Dorothy~I can’t wait to see a new photo with the shorter hair! It will definitely be nice for summer. Isaac has been handling all of the current struggles very well. We've had good conversations.

Lori~Thanks for sharing first-hand information. It’s just so sad on so many levels. I hope the COVID levels don’t rise in that area.

My day was paid work and taking time to talk with Maegann about all the current “news” as she was feeling so overwhelmed, angry, unsure, etc. Sadly, even in our quieter location for this type of thing, she’s been the target of some racial remarks because she is white. (From Hispanics) She knows it is from fear, but it is totally unnecessary. She did let her boss know what was happening so I’m glad she made that known. Tomorrow she is going to get the next step done towards going back to her natural hair color and I think that will help a little as the very blonde that she is now would draw more attention towards “white”. She doesn’t work again until Thursday. So the positive of all this mess in the U.S. right now is that good questions are being asked in this home.

Things are settling a little here...we still have overnight curfews, but only for 6 hours and not the original 10. Area churches and metro mission organizations have made their presence known here, and have been active in cleanup and mobilizing crews to help. A friend of mine knew the man who was killed and he had escorted her to her car when she volunteered at the mission, so I am glad to see that positive connection helping with cleanup/healing. Sadly, the neighborhood most damaged has many people who do not drive, and with grocery stores destroyed, they are relying on donated food to feed their families. I could smell the smoke on Sunday and yesterday, but not today.
I fear a huge covid spike, since we have had crowds of people in the county with the most cases, and where social distancing is difficult due to many refugee families with multiple generations who live in close quarters.

Hot here today, so I have mostly been in the AC. Hubby decided ot do some outdoor work, and I had the kids inside...but they did really well...less school work and not trying to pick fights with Dad seemed to be a good combination!

Karate and Scouts on zoom tonight, so I better get started on supper.

Janet - I am hoping it all calms down. It is so frustrating when you see people of influence stirring the pot. How is Isaac doing through all of this.?? Hopefully people stop blaming and finger pointing and just calm down.

think I forgot to tell you that I got my hair cut super short, It is shorter than I had planned on. But honestly I love it when I am outside, the wind does not blow it every which way and it is not in my face when I am outside working,

Last night I got one of the neighbors yards mowed, finished mowing ours, hubby tried to mow but got wore out, got my plants planted finally, flowers and a few veggies, and got the 2nd treatment on my yard. Today it is suppose to rain. If it is not raining after work I will try to get some mulch.

I was so happy to see so many positive posting on Facebook this morning regarding the current events. Great messages from black men, songs by Christian artists, etc. Yesterday it was just overwhelming and sad to even open the app. Maegann even had a run in with her friend Kim this morning and I just kept praying that she would see the true Kim as she is not a good influence. I was very glad that the historical landmark (church) was not destroyed. That's history for all Americans no matter what their skin color.

Anyway--So tired today and it's just myself and Isaac as Tim had to go into the office today as the new intern he was responsible for hiring was starting today. He's the only one who knows him as well. Isaac and I just took the morning off and then had lunch together. He got started on his Biology course and I got through all my paid work emails. We also decided we are just going to have breakfast for supper.

Lori - there were riots in Erie, Buffalo and Pittsburgh. It makes me so sad. I hope they stop whoever is paying these rioters, It is going to take even longer now for our country to recover.

I did see somewhere the people out picking up behind the rioters and I think that is wonderful. I hope you and your family stay safe - it is such a scary situation.

Janet - glad to hear you got some supplements into Tim. I hope the boys enjoyed the picnic. It sounds like you are enjoying your day.

Yesterday I was able to chill most of the day. We made a trip to Mylindas to get a trailer of fire wood - but they threw some into the back of the truck as well so I did have to unload that. But we just parked the trailer at the cabin for now. Mylinda and I went to a store and browsed the garden areas. It was just a nice day and ate piazza and wings and visited with my grandchildren,
