My family has always had gigantig breastesesses. My mom is an F, I'm a DD and I don't know what my sister is but I know we've all been very big. It is exciting yet also frustrating that my clothes are starting to not fit, at all. I don't have money for a new wardrobe. I've got a belt and stuff and some clothes that were too small but the bras are so damn expensive. I'm a 42 DD. I would be happy if I could get to a C. Just a C or maybe a D at the most.

I have C's and I absolutely have no problem with that, in fact would be fine with B's too. The only problem when I go shopping in the "trendy" stores for "sexy" bras, is that almost all of them seem to have TOO MUCH PADDING! Like, yeah it will make them look bigger under a shirt... But I don't want my partner to take it off and say "awwwwwwwww".

this is kinda off topic, but still about bras, just wanted to let all the ladies know that the new bra from Victoria's-the incredible-is just that. It does not have the little strap adjusters and the underwire is padded...it feels soooooo good and the most comfortable bra i have ever worn--- emoticon

My take on his comments in public is that he was inappropriate and comes across disrespectful to you.

On the size issue, apparently many women do not wear the proper size bra, mostly because they do not get properly measured when they gain or lose.

Do or do not, there is no try...

Cute story, and congratulations.

And of course men don't know sizes. It's just not something we have occasion to shop for. I think it's meant to be one of life's mysteries to us.

GREAT thread!!! emoticon

I have always disliked bra shopping, but have always had the best luck at Nordstrom's. Their fitters really know what they're doing, and listen when I say I want something fun and sexy, not Grama (I'm 31, my boobs may be big, but I'm not dead yet, MmmKay?)

I'm down 20lbs since November of 2009, but my Girls really haven't changed much, and I kinda like that. What HAS changed is the stuff that rolls over the Girls in other areas . . . underarms, back, etc.

How exciting to get new bras! And even more exciting to want to be seen in them!! emoticon

Holy cow, what a funny little thread!

Well, at least I can tell my hubster that there's a chance I won't lose the DD's. Though secretly I'd be okay with slipping back into single D.

Thanks for the "laugh til I have to pee my pants" moment! Reading the responses, there're quite a few of us with racks who can relate to your pain and share your elation with getting bras that fit. If you were experiencing back pain before this, you'll probably feel an almost immediate relief. Now, my friend, the tough part will be finding sports bras that fit you and your girls. Good luck with that!

My ex was an H cup, no joke. Once they get to a certain size you can't get fun sexy bras anymore, hers cost like 50 to 75 bucks each and had monsterous clasps just to keep the girls in place. One day for fun we went to Victorias secret and they tried to tell her that she was a double D. It was hilarous, thinking of her in a bra that did not fit and as such gave her a mufin top of monsterous cleavage. Congrats on the weight loss! Keep it up!

I have always had ddd's no matter what my weight has been there is no such things as a Fredrick's in Salem which would be lovely but when I was measured the sales girl had the cups to small. My shoulders ache from supporting them and I married my husband because he asked me when he met me if they had to be so big. I'm still waiting for him to pay for smaller ones 29 years later. But what I have heard about reduction surgery no thanks It's a new pain for an old one.

Rin, I know plenty of women who haven't had problems despite being "generously endowed." I can also list at least 4 off the top of my head who developed serious enough issues that the reductions were covered medically. Regardless, being willing to get out of the department stores and finding the right size is key.

Every body is different and some have more trouble than others with the size and weight of their breasts. I had a friend who ended up with deep grooves in her shoulders from the bra straps and had reduction surgery, but the grooves are permanent. My sister-in-law also has trouble. But I have also met women who are very proud of their larger size and wear them easily without trouble. I would prefer if mine were smaller, but they do not cause me any problems now, so I don't plan to have them reduced...though my husband is perfectly willing to let me reduce them if I need/want to.

Brightest Blessings!

I want to answer the thread title: "Bras.. a man's perspective on size"

When I was a teenager my brother (11 yers older) had set me straight on bra sizes (and subsequently breast sizes) and told me it's never about the number and it's all about the CUP SIZE. It was one of those things where I just went, "huh", to myself.

Years later I was a part of a conversation where a co-worker was bitching about her breasts and how heavy they were and that they were bothering her back. I thought she was pretty thin and wondered what she meant. She went on to say (not to me but I was sitting there listening and she didn't seem like she cared who was listening) and said her bra size was a 32 DD.

I immediately flipped back in my mind that conversation with my brother and rea;ized that this woman did indeed have large breasts even though she was thin and short. It all started to click and then I could understand why she was having back trouble. Now that I think about it I always thought she looked like was always going to tip over forward.

Soon afterwards I had taken another job and never did find out what ever happened to her.

I started out a B and then went to the space between a C & D. I hate the bigger size for exercising, but otherwise they don't bother me. My biggest pet peeve is underwires...so annoying and rub me raw...they ceratinly don't make bras adjustable enough to fit the individual woman!

Brightest Blessings!

omg you girls are too funny! I too love my boobs though! Funny story (yes another)

On my 18th birthday I got my first tattoo. I got the pearl jam stick figure on my right breast. Well the next week at basketball practice I about died when someone elbowed my in the tattoo. The coach was like WTH is your problem. When I explained he said what is it? When I told him he said, " So when you are 70 he'll be standing on your waste?" Gotta love guys and their thoughts on boobs.

I enjoy having my DD's. They're nice to me. I get loads of attention paid to me, I met my current boyfriend b/c of them, I've met several great men b/c of them. I'm scared I'm going to loose them, when I have children. When my mom had me she went from a DD to a D. Then when she had my sister it went from a D to a C. I don't want that to happend it will upset me greatly b/c I've had DD's since about 2002/2001ish.

I really need to get my girls measured and find an appropiate holders for them. I love underwire bras b/c they hold them up and separate them but my middle part doesn't rest where ever its suppose to. I hate shopping for them b/c I don't ever find anything I like for them. And they're so hard to shop for. I wear a 42DD. So I have to wear stupid matron bras too. My boyfriend is so sweet though, he says I look sexy in my matron bras. I know he's just saying that to be sweet, but I always feel better knowing he loves me no matter what I wear. emoticon

I just hate how Victoria's Secret cuts off at what? 36? The occasional 38, maybe?

I've been stuck with ugly matron bras since I crossed 38 and I hate it. Right now, I'm 42C and while Frederick's does have some stuff, honestly, what's available is mostly what's on the fat lady rack at Target.

"F-in big tits", though, I love that. He's a keeper!

I can vouch for the fact that after I got the proper F cup bra this past weekend the middle does rest against my chest! My one friend looked at my bra today while I was changing and was like WOW that thing is huge. But it just looks that way I think cause it's full cover. Cause I'm close to almost falling out of it... but not at the 4boob coming out of it.

Someone mentioned that Carson show - Look Good Naked - and I have a question for all of my fellow DD-listers (and F-in big boobs girls) and all. Once the girls get fitted on his show, the center of the bra between the cups rests flat against their chest. Is that for real? Can I honestly expect to find a bra where that center piece is flat against my chest? I always assumed that the size of the cups/boobs would always turn it into a little shelf for stacking miniature books and whatnot.

One of the things I am looking forward to with my weight loss is losing some boobage.

I went into Torrid Saturday and tried on a cute dress that looked amazing! Except my boobs were still popping out! I felt like I couldn't wear the dress out in public because even though it looked great on me everywhere else, I felt like it was still too tight in the chest.

When I lost 20lbs I went from a DDD to a DD. I am hoping I can get down to a D by the time I get to my goal weight. (I'd even be happy as a C!)

Big breasts can be such a burden.

Rin, you had me rolling on the floor laughing with that one!

For a good fitting, you can always go to a bra specialty store. Here in Baltimore, we have 2 that I know of: Bare Essencials and We Fit. I am sure there are other stores like that around the country, too. They can definitely fit you properly there. Although their bras tend to be more expensive, you don't have to buy one there--just "window shop" and find out what size you are!

Yes definitely! Proper fitting bras just make a world of difference.

Boo on sales people that do not know what they are doing! Sometimes we are better off telling them to go away.

Congrats on getting properly measured and the lovely new bras!

By your boyfriend's reckoning, on joining SparkPeople I would have been:-

a 40 "F-in" big boobs :-)

Now I've lost some weight I got remeasured last weekend, and I'm down to a 38 E (what would that be? "EXTREMELY" big boobs or something ;-D ?)

Thing is, the right bra will make you look perter, firmer, taller, thinner anyway. So wherever your starting point, and whether your breasts are generous or delicate, it's worth getting a proper fitting done, it can really bolster your self-confidence.

I had a ridiculous experience with a worker today in a clothing store... I told her the size that I used to wear (that is now loose) and that I had lost about 50 lbs and needed a smaller size... she measures me and then goes to get the SAME size that I told her I was before! I told her that I'd have better luck shopping on my own and walked away lol... stupid.

OK... don't get me wrong I love my breasts... it's just I wasn't prepared for what she told me lol. My friends are calling me the freak of nature cause my weight is decreasing so much and not my breasts. They keep telling me I'm going to break in half not too far down the line. But I defiantly recommend everyone gets measured. More than 75% of women wear the wrong size bra. Carson explains it well on How to Look Good Naked!

Corrin, I feel your pain. I know I need to go get new bras, since I'm well into that f-in big ta-tas area myself, but the darn Victoria's Secret in the mall here doesn't even carry anything above a D. And I've heard they don't measure correctly anyway. But, oh how wonderful it would be to have a bra that holds my entire boob and not be like the reverse-Titanic of bras (you know, what you can see on the surface is just a fraction of what lies beneath, but what the cup holds is just a fraction of what it should). I'll have to look for a Frederick's.

I can so hear myself saying the same thing....not because I don't know cup sizes...but for the humor value.

It took me years to learn the secret of weight loss. Now I'm going to convey it to you...ready?......

congratulations!!! i didn't even know boobs came in that size! lol...

when i started losing weight a couple years ago, i was a 38 or 40 C - something like that. now i'm back to a 36 B, where i've been since junior high school.

obviously, mother (F-er) nature thought it would be hilarious to deflate my boobs first, and then let the rest of me follow. eventually. hopefully!?

Yea, I have no sympathy! I am a size 28 with a bra size of 42C (as far as I can see)... If/when I get to a 14, I think I'll be "nearly A"!

Congrats on the new bras and the weight loss. I think men only think bras go up to D, DD, and if your lucky they know about DDD size cups. Don't go to hard on him at least want shopping with you. Keep up the great work.

So today as a reward for getting to a size 14 and the fact NONE of my bras fit me around my body the BF decided to take me to the BIG mall. This mall is an hour away.... BUT.... they have a Fredrick's of Hollywood! The BF had to keep me reeled in the whole time I was only allowed bras no lingerie since I'm not at my goal. Soooooooo...

I go in the store and one of the little sales girls asks if she can help me. For once I am like "YES!" instant excitement on her part. So I tell her that I've lost a lot of weight and need measured. So the girl brings me in the back to the bra section and proceeds to measure me. She measures me 4 times... No lie. I think she was second guessing how big my breasts are. Finally she's like ok... I can tell you've lost a substantial amount of weight and like none has come off your chest. I am like yes that is basically true. She then says "Well you are a 36F."

At this point I'm taken aback by that size. Excited about the 36, in disbelief of the F, till I remember I was commenting on how HUGE they have been looking since I've gotten more lean the last two months. Also at this point my BF walks up as I'm telling the girl what I'm looking for in a bra. As she goes and searches for ones for me to try on (how exciting they have that big of a size in the store) I tell my BF my size. This is the conversation with him....

Me: Sweetie I just got measured I'm a 36F
BF: You're a 36DD
ME: No dear F
BF: What the he(double hockey stick) is an F?
ME: It's an F
BF: Like F-ing huge tits?

At this point I think the sales girl turned about 5 shades of red and I was losing it. But in the end I have two AWESOME new bras that fit wonderful and are pretty not grandma like and we less than $50 together. So I am stoked.
