Just a suggestion for the next trip. I used my vacations for renewal. That doesn't mean I don't have a glass of wine or a deluxe dinner but I find plan trips to include both indulgence and restoration. For me it doesn't seem like exercise when I do a walking tour or try out a new experience like a different physical activity. I also indulge in one of my favorite activities an afternoon read and nap.

Often all the bags are gone from my eyes, I'm lighter on my way back while others of my crew are the worse for wear.

4 Noble Truths

1. Suffering is a part of life
2. Suffering is caused by our attachments and avoidances.
3. Suffering can be ended.
4. Freedom from suffering is possible by following the Eightfold path.

Bigotry disguised as morality is still bigotry just as an outhouse with
marble columns is still an outhouse.

I had the same problem when I got back from vacation. Not only is just relaxing easy to get used to, the break in routine is disruptive too.
I don't know what worked to get you started in the first place, but if it was enough to get you moving from neutral before, maybe you can repeat the cycle.

PS I considered not gaining more than I had just lost before the vacation being successful. It is so easy to gain on holiday!

Good morning! Welcome home...you're right where you need to be to get the program working.

Start using the Nutrition Tracker faithfully and you'll see where your calories and carbs are coming from. Then follow the recommended range of nutrients to jumpstart your weight loss. Be sure to eat a good breakfast each day to get your metabolism started.

Exercise - even just 10 minutes a day - is needed to balance your program. Add 8 cups of water daily and you're on your way.

Just set your goals and go for them. Make them reasonable so you don't get disappointed or frustrated. They can always be adjusted later in the game. If you need to, start with little steps to improving your habits and you'll discover the joy of accomplishment sooner rather than later.

Come back soon and post often. We're all in this together and we've got the support and encouragement you need any time.

emoticon Marianne,

Sounds like you had a fabulous time. It can be difficult for anyone to get back to healthier lifestyle habits after a vacation or even being away for awhile. Given that you had just started spark, My suggestion would be to begin where anyone would in your position: Do try to track and log your food using the nutrtion tracker for the next several weeks to determine where trouble spots are that you need to work on. While doing this, simply try to increase water and vegetable/fruit intake. For fitness aim at 10 minutes of some fitness activity 5 out of 7 days.

I would definately explore the healthy lifestyle section, especially under the motivation section to help get your momentum going, along with checking in as much as you can to gain the support.

Here's one article to get you going www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motivat

Hello everyone.

I just got back from holiday yesterday (New York, San Francisco and L.A.) and I had the most brilliant time, but although I took my Yoga mat and running shoes - OF COURSE - I did not do anything except eating a lot and enjoying the beautiful Nappa Valley wine.

I have only started this program a week before I went on holiday and I lost 1 kg then, which I am sure is now back on. Anyway, I am finding it REALLY hard to get back to tracking food, and writing down everything, and most importantly exercising. Do you guys have any advice for me at all? It would be very much appreciated.

Thank you so much.

x Marianne
